People with suicidal thoughts are more inclined to seek technology-delivered interventions than in-person forms of treatment, making mobile apps for suicide prevention an ideal platform for treatment delivery. This review examines apps designed for suicide prevention, with a specific focus on user engagement.
This study aims to update the literature and broadly evaluate the landscape of mobile health apps for suicide prevention; examine apps with key features and primary approaches to suicide prevention; and systematically evaluate the engagement, functionality, aesthetics, and information of the apps.
All apps related to suicidal thoughts and behaviors were identified in the Google Play and iOS app stores and were systematically reviewed for their content and quality. The mobile app rating scale (MARS) was used to evaluate app usability and engagement.
Of the 66 apps identified, 42 (64%) were specifically designed for people with suicidal ideation, and 59 (89%) had at least one best practice feature for suicide risk reduction. The mean overall MARS score of all apps was 3.5 (range 2.1-4.5), with 83% (55/66) of apps having a minimum acceptability score of 3. The total MARS score was not associated with the user app rating (r=-0.001; P=.99) or the number of features (r=0.24; P=.09).
This study identified many usable and engaging apps in app stores designed for suicide prevention. However, there are only limited apps for clinicians. Thus, mobile apps for suicide prevention should be carefully developed and clinically evaluated.

Many newly diagnosed cancers are associated with modifiable lifestyle behaviors, such as diet, exercise, smoking cessation, and maintaining a healthy weight. However, primary care providers rarely discuss cancer prevention behaviors with their patients.
This study aims to assess the usability, acceptability, and user engagement of the Healthier Together mobile app, which is designed to promote cancer prevention behaviors among non-Hispanic Black primary care patients, by using social networks and goal-setting theories of behavior change.
In an 8-week pilot study, we enrolled primary care patients (N=41) and provided them with a cancer prevention mobile app that allowed them to select, track, and share progress on cancer prevention goals with other users. App usability was assessed using the System Usability Scale. We assessed the app's acceptability by qualitatively analyzing open-ended responses regarding participants' overall experience with the app. We assessed participants' engagement by analyzing tange to reduce cancer risk among non-Hispanic Black primary care patients. In Senegal, reducing neonatal mortality remains a challenge. The management of neonatal infections remains problematic and presents a strong clinical focus. check details Indeed, like all developing countries, the difficulty of acquiring state-of-the-art infrastructure and the financial cost impact on the routine use of biomarkers. It is in this context that we conducted this study to identify the best biological strategy for making a reliable diagnosis. Ninety-nine newborns were recruited at the pediatric service of the Diamniadio Children's Hospital (Senegal). CRP was assayed by latex immuno-agglutination method, IL-6 and IL-8 using Luminex® technology, PCT by chemiluminescence, orosomucoid by immunoturbidimetry and SAA by ELISA technique. 20 newborns had probable infection and six established infection. Deaths and complications were significantly greater in these groups. With an optimal decision threshold of 16.3 mg/L, CRP performed better (compared to the other tested blood biomarkers) with AUC, sensitivity and specificity of 94%, 88% and 99%, respectively. With the performance obtained from CRP in the diagnosis of neonatal bacterial infections, the installation of panels with other biomarkers with advanced and expensive technology is not necessary. Thus, optimal care and within a reasonable timeframe can be done in our health facilities, with this accessible marker that is CRP.Pathogenic variants in the SCN8A gene have been associated with a broad phenotypic spectrum, ranging from benign familial infantile seizures to severe, early-onset developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. This spectrum also includes an "intermediate phenotype" characterized by different degrees of cognitive disability, mild neurological impairment, and therapeutically manageable epilepsy. We report on a child harbouring a de novo, novel SCN8A deletion, whose clinical picture is consistent with an SCN8A-related "intermediate phenotype". This patient's peculiar feature is the occurrence of paroxysmal tonic upgaze (PTU), a non-epileptic disorder consisting of sustained conjugate upward deviation of the eyes, with neck flexion, and downbeat saccades. PTU has been described in otherwise healthy children, as well as in a few genetic syndromes, but has never been observed in SCN8A-related phenotypes. This report, therefore, adds a new symptom to the spectrum of movement disorders associated with SCN8A-related developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. In this short communication, we provide video-EEG documentation of PTU and seizures, and discuss the challenging differential diagnosis between the two symptoms.Macrophagic activation syndrome (SAM) or Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis is a clinical-biological entity of non-specific proliferation and activation of macrophages of the reticulohistiocytic system, with phagocytosis of the figurative elements of blood. It is a rare pathology combining non-specific clinical and biological signs and images of hemophagocytosis. It can be primary or acquired secondary to an infection, an autoimmune or neoplastic disease. While T or NK lymphomas are the classic causes of reactive SAM and its association with Hodgkin lymphoma is exceptional. This is a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency given the risk of development towards a fatal multivisceral failure due to an absence of appropriate support. This is a report of a case of SAM revealing a case of Hodgkin lymphoma in a 35-year-old patient.
