Phthalates that people are exposed to every day are toxic carcinogenic chemicals with proven harmful effects on growth and reproduction. Ellagic acid (EA) is a polyphenol derivative known for its antioxidant properties. We hypothesized that the possible reproductive damage mechanism of phthalates is oxidative attack and ellagic acid could have a protective effect against radical forms in the body through its antioxidant properties. Thirty-two male rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 8 rats in each. Phthalate (DBP) was administered intraperitoneally and EA acid through gastric oral gavage (phthalate group 500 mg/kg/day DBP; EA group 2 mg/kg/day ellagic acid; the treatment group 500 mg/kg/day DBP and 2 mg/kg/day EA). The vehicle of DBP and EA, carboxymethyl cellulose was administered to control group. At the end of 4 weeks the testis tissue samples were taken under mild anesthesia. Tissue malondialdehyde, antioxidant parameters, sperm motility, sperm density and abnormal spermatozoon ratios were determined. Analysis was performed with One Way ANOVA test using SPSS 12.0 program. As a result; it has been shown that DBP causes oxidative damage by increasing the malondialdehyde level and decreasing antioxidant parameters, increased abnormal sperm rate and decreased sperm motility and concentration and histopathological damage so this damage is inhibited by the antioxidant activity of ellagic acid.
Emergencies account for 60% of UK neurosurgical workload. We analysed the emergency referrals made to the on-call neurosurgical registrar in a regional centre over three years, aiming to identify temporal trends in volume of referrals, admission practices and major diagnostic categories contributing to referrals and admissions.

Individual referrals recorded in on-call databases were processed to extract basic demographics, call timing, diagnosis category and whether the patient was admitted under neurosurgery. Linear regression analysis was used to identify temporal trends across the three years.

A total of 18128 calls were made to the on-call registrar between 2016 and 2018, with a significant increase in monthly calls. On average, one call was received every 88 minutes. An increasing proportion of these calls were taken out of office hours. Diagnostic categories accounting for the largest percentage of calls were traumatic brain injury (17.7%) and cauda equina syndrome (13%). Significant increases in meet increasing demands.
Emergency neurosurgical referrals continue to rise in the UK at a rate exceeding population growth. This implies a decreasing referral threshold. However, the constant admission rate suggests either an increasing amount of neurosurgical pathology, the threshold for admission/intervention has decreased, or a combination. There is an association between recreational marijuana use in pregnancy and legalization. As more states legalize marijuana, its use in pregnancy may increase. The objective of this study was to evaluate pregnant women's knowledge and opinions about marijuana use, potential risks, and legalization.

A cross-sectional survey of pregnant women at a regional perinatal center in New Jersey was performed from January-December 2019. Pregnant subjects were invited to complete a voluntary, anonymous 23-question survey about marijuana use in pregnancy, potential risks, and legalization. Subjects were excluded if they could not read in English or Spanish. Survey questions were based on a 5-point Likert scale (1 = strongly agree, 2 = agree, 3 = neutral, 4 = disagree, and 5 = strongly disagree). Likelihood of agreeing or disagreeing with potential risks, with neutral responses as the reference, were estimated based on the relative risk (RR) (95% confidence interval [CI]). Associations were examined with prior tobacco/, 95% CI 0.95-1.51). Similar trends were observed for subjects who reported no prior marijuana use and for subjects with more than high school education.

The majority of surveyed pregnant women demonstrated poor knowledge about the possible risks of marijuana in pregnancy and indicated that they would be more likely to use marijuana in pregnancy if it were legalized. As the use of marijuana increases, providers should focus on educating their patients about potential risks associated with marijuana use in pregnancy while additional research is needed to clarify associated risks.

The current treatment spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) is limited.

To determine the optimal time window for minimally invasive surgery in patients with sICH.

sICH patients with a hematoma volume of 30-80 mL in the basal ganglia region were included in our study. A total of 357 patients were divided into groups according to different operative times from ICH onset (group 1 0-6 h, group 2 6-12 h, group 3 >12 h) and hematoma volumes (30-50 mL and >50 mL). All patients were followed-up for three months' post-operation, and their clinical outcomes were compared.

In the three groups of patients with hematoma volumes of 30-50 mL, the rebleeding and mortality rate were higher in group 1 than groups 2 and 3 (
 < .05). The activities of daily living evaluated by Barthel Index (BI) three months' post-operation was significantly lower in group 3 than other groups (
 < .05) and group 2 had the highest proportion of good outcomes. Among the patients with the hematoma volumes of 50-80 mL, the rebleeding risk was higher in group 1 than groups 2 and 3 (
 < .05). However, there were no significant differences in mortality rates among these three groups. Moreover, group 1 had significantly higher BI than groups 2 and 3 (
 < .05).

Minimally invasive surgery is safe and effective in patients with sICH. Selleck BLU-554 6-12 h after sICH onset is the optimal surgical window for patients with hematoma volumes of 30-50 mL, while ultra-early (≤6 h) may achieve better results in patients with hematoma volumes of >50 mL.
