Physical activity (PA) provides many benefits for recovery from cancer treatments. Many older (65+ years) cancer survivors which comprise the majority of the cancer survivor population, do not meet recommended PA guidelines. This study explored the feasibility and acceptability of using audiobooks as part of a 12-week multi-component intervention to increase steps/day, light and moderate-to-vigorous intensity PA among older survivors.
Twenty older cancer survivors (95% female, mean age = 71.55 years, 90% White, 85% overweight/obese, 75% breast cancer survivors, mean 1.96 years since treatment completion) were randomized into one of the two study groups (Audiobook Group,
= 12, Comparison Group,
= 8). Both study groups were provided a tailored step goal program over the 12-week intervention; weekly step increases were based on a percent increase from baseline. Participant self-monitored their steps using a Fitbit Charge 2. In addition, the Audiobook group were encouraged to listen to audiobooks (downla sustainable, innovative intervention among older survivors to increase their PA has significance for this group of survivors.
The World Federation of Occupational Therapists asserts that all occupational therapists are obligated to promote occupational rights, and has highlighted the importance of Amartya Sen's concept of 'capabilities' to the work of securing the occupational rights to which all are equally entitled.
To outline the capabilities approach and highlight its relevance and importance for the occupational therapy profession.
Drawing from Sen's work, and that of other scholars who have critiqued and adapted his capabilities approach, this paper describes the foundational components of the capabilities approach and identifies important overlaps with issues of concern to occupational therapy.
Sen's capabilities approach employs a contextualised view of human wellbeing; attending to whether people have the abilities to do the things they would value doing,
whether their circumstances actually provide the real opportunities to choose to do what they would value doing.
The capabilities approach, with its attention to abilities and actions, options and opportunities, empowerment and choice, justice and participation, has clear relevance for occupational therapists.
A capabilities perspective provides a valuable framework for occupational therapists striving towards equalising people's opportunities, possibilities and choices - their capabilities - to secure their occupational rights.

The completeness and accuracy of the registration of synchronous metastases and recurrences in the Swedish Colorectal Cancer Registry has not been investigated. Knowing how accurate these parameters are in the registry is a prerequisite to adequately measure the current recurrence risk.
All charts for patients diagnosed with stage I-III colorectal cancer (CRC) in two regions were reviewed. In one of the regions, all registrations of synchronous metastases were similarly investigated. After the database had been corrected, recurrence risk in colon cancer was calculated stratified by risk group as suggested by ESMO in 2020.
In patients operated upon more than five years ago (
= 1235), there were 20 (1.6%) recurrences not reported. In more recent patients, more recurrences were unreported (4.0%). Few synchronous metastases were wrongly registered (3.6%) and, likewise, few synchronous metastases were not registered (about 1%). The five-year recurrence risk in stage II was 6% for low-risk, 11% for intermedart review. The recurrence risk in this validated and updated patient series matches what has been recently reported, except for the risk of recurrence in stage II low risk colon cancers which seem to be even a few percentage points lower (6 vs. 9%).This study aimed to develop and optimise a Curcumin-loaded SLNs (C-SLNs) patch through a new approach for transdermal delivery. C-SLNs were optimised through the response surface central composite design using the modified injection method. Optimised C-SLNs were loaded into a polyvinyl alcohol-based patch through the backing membrane method. Compatibility studies (FTIR, XRPD), in vitro release, ex vivo skin permeation, accelerated stability, and evaluation studies of the patch were also performed. Prepared C-SLNs exhibited average particle diameter of 170 ± 2 nm with an encapsulation efficiency of 90 ± 3.5% (w/w) while SEM illustrated spherical shape of particles. In vitro release data ensured a sustained release for up to 72 hours. IU1 The enhancement ratio of C-SLNs based patch with permeation enhancer (PE) was high up to 6.5 folds as compared to patch without PE. It is concluded that the modified injection method is simple, economical, and less time consuming for the development of C-SLNs patch for the transdermal route.
Awareness of IgG4-related disease (IgG4-RD) is increasing worldwide and specialists are now familiar with most of its clinical manifestations and mimickers. IgG4-RD promptly responds to glucocorticoids and repeated courses are typically used to induce and maintain remission because the disease relapses in most patients. If left untreated, it can lead to organ dysfunction, organ failure and death. Advancement in our understanding of IgG4-RD pathogenesis is leading to the identification of novel therapeutic targets and emerging treatments are now setting the stage for personalized therapies for the future.
This review focuses on emerging treatment options for IgG4-RD based on our advancing understanding of disease pathophysiology. Research was performed in the English literature on Pubmed and clinicaltrials.gov databases.
Glucocorticoids remain the first-line induction treatment for the multi-organ manifestations of IgG4-RD. Alternative immunosuppressive agents for maintaining remission are warranted in order to avoid long-term steroid toxicity, and to offer a more mechanistic and personalized therapeutic strategy.
