How to Choose the Best Hob
When selecting the ideal hob for your needs there are a lot of aspects to take into consideration. From cost to energy efficiency. Choose the features that are the most important.
A basic electric ceramic stove could cost as low as PS100 however, you'll have to shell out more for a model with a lot of features. Gas hobs, which are also popular and provide excellent temperature control but are more expensive, are a different alternative.
1. Haier I-Flex Induction Hob
This Haier hob has four cooking zones with three 'Push&Go" functions, and can aid in cooking quick meals. It was also one of the most efficient on test to boil water, taking just under four minutes. It comes with a child lock and pause function so you can stop the process quickly without having to fiddle with controls.
Its design is sleek and modern, blending in well with contemporary kitchens. It is usually made of glass (shatterproof and heatproof) or ceramic, and comes with control buttons that sit on top of the worktop to allow to make it easy to use.
The controls are intuitive to use and we liked the clear display which tells you the current power settings and which of the five zones is active. The 'Boost' feature produces high-powered heat for just a short period of time, and is perfect for stir-frying or bringing pans of boiling water to a boil quickly. The hot hob light and auto shut-off are great safety features, too.
However, it's not as sensitive to touch as other hobs tested in this test. We found it took nine presses of the control to achieve the highest temperature, as opposed to seven or six on other models. It also takes longer to react when you alter the cooking temperature, meaning you might have to alter settings multiple times before your pan is at the right temperature.
The model measures 60 cm and comes with four cooking zones. One of the zones is a half-flex, where two areas can easily be joined to accommodate larger pots or pans. Dual-ring design permits it to operate on both "normal" and "boost" power levels. Boost is ideal for frying meat, searing it or bringing water pans to a rapid boil.
It is fully connected through the hOn App, and offers hundreds of recipes, a guide to cooking, and 30 different programs that are divided into different food categories and types of cooking. It has a multislider control panel with a 'lockable interface' that can identify the type pan you are using to set the correct cooking mode. It's also compatible with hOn cookware from third parties and has a number of safety features such as the ability to lock the panel and boil-dry prevention.
2. Smeg I-Flex Induction Hob
When you're doing work in your kitchen or looking for an alternative to gas induction hobs, induction hobs are becoming more popular. Prices have slashed dramatically over the past few years. The basic four-zone models are now available for less that PS100. However, if you're looking for all the bells and whistles that include induction it's worth the extra cost for the most up-to-date technology.
This sleek-looking model from Smeg features the latest induction technology to make your cooking efficient and easy. The revolutionary Auto-pot detection technology automatically detects the position of pots with a minimum diameter of 9 cm, allowing you to switch on the appropriate zone without needing to select it manually.
Smeg's attention to energy savings does not mean that they don't offer flexibility This hob is designed to save power by adjusting the maximum operating temperature of the zones to meet your cooking preferences. There are other options to save energy using the Eco-Logic advance mode, which reduces the power output from 11.1 kW to as low as 2.4 kW.
The user-friendly interface of this hob impressed testers, with its intuitive sliding controls that follow your pan's contours along the edges of it. The control panel's color-coded design allows you to easily identify the status of each zone. The 'Flexi Duo" feature lets you connect two zones to accommodate larger pans. There are a variety of useful features, including four automatic cooking settings: melting, boiling, slow-cooking, and keeping warm.
Additionally the hob also has a 'FlameSensor' that warns you of any risk of a fire or burnt-on food. There are several safety features such as a residual heat sensor and an automatic shut-off when the surface is too hot.
It also resists hard stains and comes with a CleanProtect protective coating. This hob is easy to set up and comes with nine power levels and the handy FlexiDuo feature for catering to large pans. There are a few bonus features, such as lockable controls, and a safety fuse to protect against accidental pressing of buttons.
3. Indesit best ovens and hobs uk -Flex Induction Hob
Induction hobs are powered by electricity and not gas. They make use of copper plates to generate a magnetic force when a pan or pot is placed on them. This means they can reach temperatures much quicker than conventional gas hobs and also save energy as the cooking zone only is heated when you turn on a pan. They're generally cheaper to run than gas and are easier to clean, which makes them an extremely popular option.
Indesit's induction hob is full of features to allow you to get creative in the cooking. It has two separate zones that can be combined into the Dual Zone to accommodate larger pans, as well as a speedy booster zone that can quickly bring the water to a boil. A variety of automated functions like Push&Go allow you to create perfectly cooked meals with the click of the button. And nine power modes, including a 'P boost setting that gives each zone maximum power for five minutes, are easily selected with the controls, which are positioned across the bottom of the hob to follow the pans.
The controls are easy to operate, and the minimalist design is ideal for a modern kitchen. In our tests, it cooked pasta water in a flash and quickly heated up once we placed an oven in the Booster zone. It took some time to cool down after turning off the hob, and our test subjects could not determine the exact temperature on the control panel.
This Indesit hob also comes with a bridge function, which allows the user to combine two cooking zones to make larger pans. It also has an overheating and child lock block and an auto switch-off system that stops the hob working when it's heated to the point of. The ceramic glass is easy to clean and has no flames visible. Our test subjects were pleased with the fact that it's. In contrast to traditional extractor hoods vented hobs draw heat and smoke away from the pan and out of the room through a duct in the surface. Our experts believed that the duct of this hob was simple to clean, though it took two people to lift the filter to change it.
4. Induction Hob by GE
When choosing a new hob take a look at how it fits to your kitchen's design and layout, and also your cooking style and lifestyle. Induction hobs are a good option if you cook with children or the elderly in mind. They come with safety features such as automatic shut-offs and a cool to touch surface. If you value efficiency and speed an electric hob that has a wipe-clean ceramic glass fascia is the best choice. If you live in areas prone to load-shedding, the ability to use gas hobs in power outages could make the difference in favor of gas models.
