The national health data system was used to identify adult general scheme (86% of the French population) hospitalized for heart failure between 2011 and 2014 or with only a long-term chronic disease allowance for heart failure. The frequency and median (interquartile range) of at least one healthcare use among those still alive in 2015 was calculated.

A total of 499,296 adults (1.4% of the population) were included, and 429,853 were alive in 2015; median age 79 (68-86) years. Multi-centre study of the National French Registry (EPIIC) of patients with cochlear implants, focusing on infants who were operated-on under the age of 24 months between 2012 and 2016.

A total of 615 profoundly deaf infants, who received cochlear implants (CIs) before their second birthday, were included in the registry by different CI centers. Epidemiological, surgical, speech therapy and school, follow-up data were included in the registry, 12, 24, 36 and 48 months thereafter. The following parameters were studied type of implantation (uni- or bilateral), complications, cause of deafness, category of auditory perception (CAP), Open-set word recognition score (OSW), speech intelligibility rating, lexical comprehension with EVIP (Peabody), communication mode and type of schooling. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of superb microvascular imaging (SMI) in breast lesions.

Eighty-five solid breast lesions were studied with color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI), power Doppler imaging (PDI), monochromatic SMI (mSMI), and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS). The penetrating vessels (PVs) and microvascular morphologic and distribution features of the breast tumors were evaluated for each modality.

The diagnostic accuracies of CDFI, PDI, mSMI, and CEUS were calculated and compared. Surgical pathologic analysis showed 47 benign and 38 malignant lesions. Compared with CDFI and PDI, mSMI and CEUS detected more PVs in breast lesions. The microvascular architecture showed significant differences between benign and malignant lesions. Benign lesions mainly displayed avascular, line-like, and branch-like patterns, and malignant lesions tended to display root hair-like and crab claw-like patterns. mSMI and CEUS identified more root hair-like and crab claw-like patterns in malignant lesions than CDFI and PDI. The sensitivity, negative predictive value, and accuracy of mSMI findings in diagnosing malignancy based on PVs and vascular patterns were both higher than those of CDFI and PDI.

There have been multiple investigations defining and reporting the effectiveness of focal cryoablation as a treatment option for organ-confined prostate cancer. However, the impact of cryo-needle/probe placement accuracy within the tumor and gland has not been extensively studied. We analyzed how variations in the placement of the cryo-needles, specifically errors leading to incomplete ablation, may affect prostate cancer's resulting cryoablation.

We performed a study based on isothermal models using Monte Carlo simulations to analyze the impact of needle placement errors on tumor coverage and the probability of positive ablation margin. We modeled the placement error as a Gaussian noise on the cryo-needle position. The analysis used retrospective MRI data of 15 patients with biopsy-proven, unifocal, and MRI visible prostate cancer to calculate the impact of placement error on the volume of the tumor encompassed by the -40°C and -20°C isotherms using one to four cryo-needles.

When the standard deviation of the placement error reached 3 mm, the tumor coverage was still above 97% with the -20°C isotherm, and above 81% with the -40°C isotherm using two cryo-needles or more.
