05). Conclusions The level of risk cognition related to jogging is negatively correlated with actual risky behavior during jogging, which indicates that the higher the level of jogging-related risk cognition, the fewer jogging-related risky behaviors occur. Objectives Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are associated with lasting health and behavioral effects. In this study, we assess the relationship between ACEs and gambling in the state of Nevada. Methods Using 2018 Nevada Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data, we assessed the relationship between ACEs and gambling behavior among 2768 participants. A composite score was used to assess 10 commonly researched ACEs; this continuous score was additionally categorized into 0 ACEs, 1-2 ACEs, 3 or more ACEs. We used weighted logistic regression to assess the relationship between ACEs scores and frequency of gambling. Results Approximately 9% of study participants reported frequently gambling (one or more times a month). There was a positive association between the continuous ACEs score and frequently gambling in the fully adjusted model (p = .026). The odds of frequently gambling was 69% higher among those exposed to ≥ 3 ACEs compared to those who had no ACEs exposure (adjusted OR = 1.69; 95% CI 1.00-2.84; p = .048). Conclusions The results show a relationship between ACEs and gambling in Nevada. This research contributes to the existing understanding of ACEs and their impact. Objectives In the context of rapidly developing economies, socioeconomic changes bring about increased inequality, lower perceived social status, stress, and depression, all of which contribute to the high incidence of smoking. In this study, we investigate the linkages between social status and smoking behaviors. Methods Using data from Indonesia, we use regression analysis to study the roles of socioeconomic factors and individual risk and time preferences in determining smoking behaviors. Results We find that both objective and perceived social status matter, but the role of perceived social status is orders of magnitude larger than that of objective social status measures, such as income or education. Conclusions Whereas traditional policies focused on income or education can be effective in reducing smoking, our results suggest that much more can be achieved through policies that target inequality and socioeconomic stress. Objectives Our objective was to provide data contrasting commercial tobacco retailing in Tribal versus non-Tribal jurisdictions, in 3 states. These data may be relevant for US Food and Drug Administration regulation of Tribal retailing. Methods With Tribal permission, observations were made on commercial tobacco advertising, product variety, pricing, and retail concept for stores within and just outside Tribal jurisdictions in areas of Arizona (AZ), California (CA), and Oklahoma (OK). Results A total of 87 Tribal (20 AZ, 53 CA, 14 OK) and 67 (10, 43, 14) non-Tribal retailer visits were completed. There was substantial variation across tribes, with sales in AZ and most CA Tribal jurisdictions handled at convenience stores, whereas OK Tribal retailing was done mostly in specialized tobacco-specialty shops. Electronic cigarettes were ubiquitous across Tribal and non-Tribal outlets. Advertising and breadth of cigarette offerings was most extensive in the tobacco specialty retailers of Tribal OK. Surprisingly, Tribally manufactured cigarettes were found only at some CA Tribal retailers. Conclusions Some Tribal commercial tobacco outlets actually price above their non-Tribal competitors and there is substantial variation in retailing strategy across Tribal jurisdictions. Tribal governments can continue to evaluate and reform commercial tobacco retailing so as to improve Tribal health. Objectives In this study, we sought to elucidate the influenza and pneumonia vaccination practices of adults with diabetes in North Carolina. Methods Using North Carolina Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System data, we examined 2011-2018 trend data and demographic and health factors (2014-2018) in influenza (influenza vaccine receipt in the past year among adults ages 18+ years) and pneumonia (lifetime pneumonia vaccination receipt for adults ages 65+ years) vaccination adherence. Results Influenza and pneumonia vaccination adherence rates were consistently higher for adults with versus without diabetes and remained relatively stable over the study period for both groups. Among adults with diabetes, factors associated with higher influenza vaccination rates included non-Hispanic white race, age 65+ years, poorer health, having insurance, and being a non-smoker. Pneumonia vaccination rates among adults with diabetes were higher for non-Hispanic Whites and those in poorer health. Conclusions Adults with diabetes may be more likely to receive influenza and pneumonia vaccinations compared to adults without diabetes, but these rates remain below recommended levels. African Americans, younger adults, those without health insurance and cigarette smokers are vulnerable to being non-compliant with vaccination recommendations that could reduce their risk of developing and suffering complications from these diseases. Objectives The government of the Republic of Korea (ie, South Korea) drastically increased cigarette prices by 80% in 2015. The exogenous regulatory change provided us with an opportunity to examine the effects of the cigarette price increase on smoking behavior. see more Methods Utilizing 2011-2016 balanced panel data from the Korea Health Panel (3693 participants each year), we divided the sample into smokers and non-smokers and traced each individual's smoking behavior. Results Overall smoking prevalence (OR = 0.476, p less then .01) and daily cigarette consumption (IRR = 0.737, p less then .01) were reduced after the cigarette price increase. However, although the cigarette price increase was inversely related to smokers' cigarette consumption (OR = 0.799, p less then .01), we found no statistically significant impact on smoking cessation among smokers. On the other hand, the cigarette price increase was associated with decreased smoking onset among non-smokers (OR = 0.172, p less then .01) and reduced cigarette consumption after they started smoking (IRR = 0.
