Here, CuAg bimetallic nanoparticles with various concentration ratios (2.5, 5.0, 7.5, and 10 wt%) of Ag in fixed amount of Cu labeled as 10.025, 10.050, 10.075, and 10.1 were synthesized using co-precipitation method with ammonium hydroxide and deionized water as solvent, polyvinyl pyrrolidone as a capping agent, and sodium borohydride and ascorbic acid as reducing agents. These formulated products were characterized through a variety of techniques. XRD confirmed phase purity and detected the presence of distinct fcc structures belonging to Cu and Ag phases. FTIR spectroscopy confirmed the presence of vibrational modes corresponding to various functional groups and recorded characteristic peak emanating from the bimetallic. UV-visible spectroscopy revealed reduction in band gap with increasfrom A. bauminnii (Binding score - 3.385 kcal/mol) and S. aureus (Binding score - 3.012 kcal/mol) along with FabH from E. coli (Binding score - 4.372 kcal/mol) was undertaken. These theoretical computations indicate Cu-Ag bimetallic NPs as possible inhibitor of selected enzymes. It is suggested that exploring in vitro inhibition potential of these materials may open new avenues for antibiotic discovery.
Acute oral mucositis has been infrequently studied in the patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) receiving once-weekly cisplatin-based chemoradiotherapy (CRT). Hence, this analysis was conducted to explore the various aspects of the same.

The overall incidence of mucositis was 96.9% (n = 508) and of grade 3-5 mucositis was 61.3% (n = 321). The overall incidence of oral mucositis was similar in both the arms (CCRT and NCRT) (p value = 0.58) while grade 3-5 mucositis was more common in the NCRT arm (p value = 0.01). Out of all factors listed, the presence of nimotuzumab was the only significant risk factor for the development of grade 3 or more oral mucositis (p value = 0.01); (OR = 1.64, 95%CI 1.15-2.32). We aimed to construct and validate a risk assessment model to identify risk factors for heart failure (HF) in patients with Takayasu's arteritis (TAK).

Three hundred sixty-five patients with TAK were recruited in the East China Takayasu Arteritis Cohort from January 2012 to December 2019. Patients were assigned into training and validation sets following a 21 ratio according to the date of enrollment. Clinical characteristics were compared between heart failure (HF) and non-HF subgroups in the training set, and a risk assessment model for HF and its scoring algorithm was established based on logistic regression, which was tested in the validation set.

Among total of 74 (20.27%) TAK patients exhibited HF, and 55 cases (74.32%) were in the training set. The risk factors for HF of TAK patients included onset age >38 years, serum tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α concentration >10 pg/ml, aortic valve involvement, coronary artery involvement, and pulmonary hypertension. Test specificities ranged from 87.5 to 100.0%, and test sensitivities from 55.0 to 80.0%. The clinical specificity of the Romed test was 99.8% (95% CI 98.9-100). Overall clinical sensitivity in the study population was 73.3% (95% CI 67.9-78.2), whereas sensitivity in the different patient groups varied from 65.3 to 86.7%. Sensitivity was 83.0 to 86.7% in patients with short duration of symptoms. In a population with a COVID-19 prevalence of 1%, the negative predictive value in all patients was 99.7%. There is a large variability in diagnostic performance between rapid antigen tests. The Romed rapid antigen test showed a good clinical performance in patients with high viral loads (RT-qPCR cycle threshold ≤30), which makes this antigen test suitable for rapid identification of COVID-19-infected health care workers and patients.
