A detailed structural, chemical, and magnetic characterization of the obtained material proved that it possesses properties in agreement with the requirements for drug delivery, opening the possibility to further insights focused on the 9-HSA biomedical applications.Recently, we have shown that changes in Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra of living MDA-MB-231 cells (a triple negative cell line) upon exposure to anticancer drugs reflect the changes in the cellular compositions which are correlated to the modes of action of drugs. In the present study, MCF7 cells (an estrogen receptor expressing breast cancer cell line) were exposed to three anticancer drugs belonging to two well-characterized anticancer classes selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) and DNA-intercalating agent. First, we evaluated if the changes in the spectrum of cells are according to the modes of action of drugs and the characteristics of the MCF7 cell line in the same way as the MDA-MB-231 cell. Living MCF7 cells were treated in the three drugs at half maximal inhibitory concentration (IC50), and the difference spectra were analyzed using principal component analysis (PCA). The results demonstrated clear separation between tamoxifen/toremifene (SERM)-treated cells from the doxorubicin place in the two tested cell lines. In contrast, the doxorubicin-treated MDA-MB-231 and MCF7 cells show similar changes in 1150-950 cm-1, which indicates that the DNA intercalation effect of doxorubicin is found in both cell lines. The results have demonstrated that live-cell FTIR analysis is sensitive to the different modes of action from the same drugs on cells with different characteristics.A study of the electrical properties of metallic nanowires requires a clear analysis of conductive networks. In this study, we demonstrated that the conducting networks of Ag nanowires (AgNW) could be visually observed by examination of the voltage contrast of the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images, which was caused by the differences in the degrees of charging of AgNWs. When AgNWs dispersed on a quartz glass were irradiated by primary electrons, the substrate became negatively charged. This induced positive charges on the AgNWs in contact with the electrodes. As a result, AgNW networks connected to electrodes appeared dark in the SEM image, while the isolated AgNWs appeared brighter. By varying the acceleration voltage of the primary electrons, the extent of charging could be controlled, which, in turn, enabled the observation of the voltage contrast of AgNWs. Using the voltage contrast of SEM images, we could visually distinguish the AgNW networks having an electrical connection with the electrode from the ones that were not connected to the electrode.In recent times, flexible piezoresistive polymer nanocomposite-based strain sensors are in high demand in wearable devices and various new age applications. In the polymer nanocomposite-based strain sensor, the dispersion of conductive nanofiller remains challenging due to the competing requirements of homogenized dispersion of nanofillers in the polymer matrix and retaining of the inherent characteristics of nanofillers. In the present work, waterproof and flexible poly(vinylidene difluoride) (PVDF) with a polymer-functionalized hydrogen-exfoliated graphene (HEG)-based piezoresistive strain sensor is developed and demonstrated. The novelty of the work is the incorporation of polystyrene sulfonate sodium salt (PSS) polymer-functionalized HEG in a PVDF-based flexible piezoresistive strain sensor. The PSS-HEG provides stable dispersion in the hydrophobic PVDF polymer matrix without sacrificing its inherent characteristics. The electrical conductivity of the PVDF/PSS-HEG-based strain sensor is 0.3 S cm-1, which is two orders of magnitude higher than the PVDF/HEG-based strain sensor. Besides, near the percolation region, the PVDF/PSS-HEG shows a maximum gauge factor of 10, which is about two times higher than the PVDF/HEG-based flexible strain sensor and 5-fold higher than the commercially available metallic strain gauge. The enhancement in the gauge factor is due to the stable dispersion of PSS-HEG in the PVDF matrix and electron conjugation caused by the adherence of negatively charged sulfonate functional groups on the HEG. The developed waterproof flexible strain sensor is demonstrated using portable wireless interfacing device for various applications. This work shows that the waterproof flexible PVDF/PSS-HEG-based strain sensor can be a potential alternative to the commercially available metallic strain gauge.The microwave absorption properties of chromite and the feasibility of microwave reduction chromite have been discussed. In the SAXS patterns, equatorial streaks and meridional scattering peaks were clearly observed in all three samples prepared at different melt plasticizing temperatures, 215, 235, and 255 °C. Their presence indicated that shish-kebab crystals form in rotational shear. Compared to those at the low melt temperature, the increase in the melt temperature enhanced the amount and the dimensions of shish formed. However, the shish also relaxed faster at the high melt temperature. This behavior was attributed to the enhancement of the molecular chain's athletic ability.
