Antiviral treatments targeting the coronavirus disease 2019 are urgently required. We screened a panel of already approved drugs in a cell culture model of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and identified two new agents having higher antiviral potentials than the drug candidates such as remdesivir and chroloquine in VeroE6/TMPRSS2 cells the anti-inflammatory drug cepharanthine and human immunodeficiency virus protease inhibitor nelfinavir. The period of pregnancy is associated with some level of physical, emotional and psychological stress which can be particularly heightened and have more deleterious impact when the expectant mother is a teenager who needs higher level of resilience to cope with the challenges linked with motherhood. This study aimed to assess the level of perceived pregnancy-related stress and its relationship with the level of resilience.

An analytical cross-sectional study design was employed using a structured questionnaire and the study was conducted among 241 adolescents. Perceived stress and resilience were measured using Perceived Stress Scale, and Wagnild & Young Resilience Scale, respectively. Descriptive and inferential statistics were computed using percentages, means with standard deviations, Student's t-test, Pearson correlation, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multivariate logistic regression.

Majority of the respondents (194; 80.5%) were categorized as having moderate level of perceived pregnancy-related stress and 186 (77.2%) had low level of resilience. A significant inverse relationship was found between perceived pregnancy-related stress and resilience (r=-0.15, p=0.02). At multivariate level, three variables emerged as independent predictors of higher level of pregnancy-related stress feeling of shame (OR=3.39; CI 1.01-11.34), male partner's rejection of pregnancy (OR=3.43; CI 1.45-8.12) and lack of parental involvement in care (OR= 3.56; CI 1.65-7.71).

Given that Atg27p localization to the vacuolar membrane in particular has been shown to be dependent on both its C-terminal tyrosine sorting motif and the AP-3 adaptor, and that Atg27p can be found in clathrin-coated vesicles, we set out to determine whether Atg27p localization inside cells is dependent on clathrin or on any of its cargo adaptors. We report that Atg27p localization is clathrin- and Ent3p/5p-dependent.Atg27p, a single-pass transmembrane protein that functions in autophagy, localizes to a variety of cellular compartments including the pre-autophagosomal structure, late Golgi, vacuolar membrane, as well as early and late endosomes. Its cytoplasmic C-terminus contains a tyrosine sorting motif that allows for its transport to the vacuolar membrane and an additional sequence that allows for its retrieval from the vacuolar membrane to the endosome. Since clathrin is well known to mediate vesicular transport in the endomembrane system, the trafficking of Atg27p and its tyrosine sorting motif suggested that it might be trafficked inside clathrin-coated vesicles (CCVs). In our previous studies, Atg27p was identified by mass spectrometry as a potential component in CCVs, as it was present in CCVs isolated from both WT and auxilin-depleted cells. We now confirm that Atg27p is a component of CCVs using immunoblotting and additional mass spectrometry data.Electropositive membranes demonstrating high flux at low pressure differentials show great promise as universal separation platforms for viruses and other charged entities when centralized systems of water and power are scarce. However, the fabrication of a suitably stable membrane with optimal electrostatic characteristics remains a challenge. Here, hydrogenated detonation nanodiamond was loaded onto a quartz microfiber support membrane and coupled to the membrane surface under a high vacuum annealing process. The fabricated membranes display a zeta potential of +45 mV at pH 7 and an isoelectric point around pH 11. We show that the nanodiamond coating is robust to prolonged periods of pressurized water flow by performing extensive zeta potential measurements over time, and water filtration tests demonstrated excellent membrane retention for the electronegative dye molecule acid black 2, and at least a 6.2 log10 reduction in MS2 bacteriophage from feed waters (>99.9999%).Lead-halide perovskite nanocrystals are a promising material in optical devices due to their high photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield, excellent color purity, and low stimulated emission threshold. However, one problem is the stability of the nanocrystal films under different environmental conditions and under high temperatures. The latter is particularly relevant for device fabrication if further processes that require elevated temperatures are needed after the deposition of the nanocrystal film. In this work, we study the impact of a thin oxide layer of Al2O3 on the light emission properties of thin nanocrystal films. We find that nanocrystals passivated with quaternary ammonium bromide ligands maintain their advantageous optical properties in alumina-coated films and do not suffer from degradation at temperatures up to 100 °C. This is manifested by conservation of the PL peak position and line width, PL decay dynamics, and low threshold for amplified spontaneous emission. The PL remains stable for up to 100 h at a temperature of 80 °C, and the ASE intensity decreases by less than 30% under constant pumping at high fluence for 1 h.
