A Step-By-Step Guide To Selecting Your Fridge Freezer Samsung
Samsung Fridge Freezers With SmartThings

Samsung's Family Hub fridge combines a 389-litre fridge and an 225-litre freezer. It's a big American-style model with quality temperature control, as well as an impressive range of features that are smart.

You can customize it by removing panels to match your collection of matte black Rick Owens clothing and tie-dye Crocs.

All Round Cooling

Separate cooling circuits in fridges with All Round Cooing help keep your food fresher. Conventional fridges have a single evaporator that cools both the freezer and refrigerator compartment. This means that the low-humidity air from your freezer is circulated into your fridge and can cause your foods to dry out. This can make them taste bland and unpleasant.

Each shelf level is fitted with multiple vents for circulation of cool air. This helps to maintain a consistent temperature even when you shut and open the refrigerator door.

Optimal Fresh Zone keeps meats and fish fresher for twice as long as conventional refrigerators, without freezing them. This feature is an exciting option for those who love cooking, but isn't keen on the hassle of defrosting frozen meat or fish.

All Round Cooling employs an All Round Cooling metal cooling plate that is located at the back of the refrigerator in order to hold cold air and prevent its loss when you open the door. Samsung freezers for sale reduces the requirement for power defrosting which saves time and money.

The ice dispenser on Samsung fridges is one of the most efficient we've ever tested. The original Twist Ice Maker dispensing large cubes can be dispensed by an easy twist and can be stored below the fridge when not in use. This creates more shelf space and makes it easier to locate your favorite beverages and snacks.

You can select which way your fridge and freezer open by using Reversible Doors. You can easily fit your fridge into the layout of your kitchen while keeping it clean and neat.

Samsung's Family Hub is the central control for your SmartThings connected home with a large touchscreen on your fridge. It will show you a live feed of your smart doorbell. It can also place orders for groceries through an automated inventory, or suggest recipes based on the items in stock.

Samsung refrigerators have flexible drawers on the bottom that are an intelligent storage solution. They allow you to store taller items, such as pizza trays, and cans of drinks. They can be turned back when not in use, and folded flat to save space. This is a great option for those who love to cook and bake, but have limited storage space in their refrigerators.

FlexZone

The Samsung FlexZone side-by-side fridge freezer features a unique three-zone system that allows you to add an additional refrigerator compartment or a freezer drawer to your setup. This flexibility lets you personalize the fridge freezer to suit your storage requirements and needs. It also allows you to upgrade to a larger or smaller fridge by the addition of a FlexZone module.

The refrigerator has a stylish design that will complement any kitchen design. Its stainless-steel finish is durable and sleek. It also comes with anti-fingerprint coating to keep the surface looking new. The fridge comes with an external water and ice dispenser, making it even more efficient.

It's a good-looking fridge with a bottom-right FlexZone compartment that converts from freezer to refrigerator. This provides extra freezer space for items like ice cream bags of frozen veggies and fish or meat. It was a great performer in our tests as well however the absence of voice control and SmartThings integration on the 21.5-inch touchscreen felt like an opportunity missed.

There's plenty of room to store food items in the rest of the fridge which includes two drawers for crisps and a customizable middle FlexZone drawer. This drawer lets you pick among five different settings based on the needs of your fridge freezer compartment. There are five different settings: the freezer setting, a soft-freeze setting for wine trays or deli trays for example, meat setting, fish setting, and a beverage setting to store snacks, drinks, and frequently used items.

This Samsung FlexZone side by side refrigerator is perfect for families who wish to have a fridge and a freezer in one. It's not as spacious than the top-of-the-line French door models, however it has plenty of useful features and is a great option for those with limited space in their kitchens.

Samsung Fridge Freezers are also very energy efficient due to their digital inverter technology. This technology regulates temperature in the fridge to ensure it doesn't fluctuate a lot and also keeps food fresher for longer. Its energy efficiency has earned the Energy STAR Certification.

SmartThings

SmartThings isn't quite the platform that Alexa and Google Assistant are, but it does have a lot of smart devices that you can connect to. Samsung's phones, TVs, tablets and fridges all include SmartThings. This could be enough to make it worthwhile for some, particularly when you own multiple Samsung products.

The SmartThings app is pretty refined and well-rounded, with a 'if x then y' automated section that works surprisingly well. You can set things up like an alarm going off when water leak sensors detect a flood, or turning on the lights when your phone detects you're at home. It can also control your refrigerator if you link it to a smart outlet, although we've seen mixed results with this.

SmartThings requires a hub, which isn't cheap. Samsung offers a variety of different options that include the SmartThings Station that you can connect to an existing router and use it as a nightlight. There's also a more affordable SmartThings Hub Dongle that can support Z-Wave and Zigbee and Thread, with Thread support in the near future.

Once you've connected your smart refrigerator to your smartphone and hub, it is extremely simple to use. The SmartThings app lets you manage your fridge from anywhere and sends notifications to your phone when it's opened or closed. You can create schedules, adjust the temperature and set reminders.

SmartThings was a founding member in the Home Connectivity Alliance. This alliance is working towards making major home appliances made by different manufacturers compatible. In the future you could control your Samsung washer/dryer, Electrolux oven, and LG TV using the same app.

While it's not as well accepted as Alexa or Google Assistant, SmartThings does have a few big hitters on its roster which include Arlo, Nest, Belkin and Lifx. It's compatible with the Matter protocol which allows for accessories to be paired regardless of the brand. For most people, however, merged Alexa and Google Assistant voice controls is most likely the best option.

Family Hub

A fridge freezer isn't much more modern than this: it comes with an LCD display of 21 inches inside the door, along with a host of clever features. Bixby, Samsung's voice-activated assistant, allows users to access entertainment apps, make notes for family (think of it as a huge digital version of the notepad that is attached to the refrigerator) and check the weather forecast and much more.

The touchscreen lets you manage food and recipes. You can add ingredients directly through an app and view what's inside your fridge using internal cameras. You can also make a shopping list on the go and keep track of foods to see when they'll expire. You can even download a dedicated recipe app that will read out the instructions as you cook.

Samsung has spent the entire year working on the Family Hub fridges based on feedback from customers. One key change is that you can now set different profiles for each family member so that they can tailor the information and apps they can access. It's still not quite as great as having Alexa integration integrated into your fridge, but it's an improvement on the previous model.

Family Hub is not only an application for managing entertainment and groceries but also controls Samsung's SmartThings platform. It can onboard Matter-compatible devices, such as lights, plugs and locks and allow you to use the touchscreen to control them as well.

Samsung's fridge has been in use for a while and, although it has a lot of functionality, the touchscreen smarts aren't exactly a must-have feature for most people. They're more fun, and somewhat frivolous extras than any other feature.

It could change when more software updates are made available, but for now these models are best suited to those who want the most comprehensive connected fridge they can get. If you're not among them, you can always opt for a less expensive model that doesn't have the Family Hub to save some cash. If you have a lot of smart home appliances that you want to control from one screen, or you like the idea of a refrigerator equipped with a large touchscreen, it could be worth the cost.
