These empathic neural responses mediated the linkage between first-hand pain sensitivity and empathic behavioral responses. Nevertheless, empathic responses were comparable between two groups when attention was withdrawn from others' pain. These results demonstrate a shared sensitivity to first-hand pain and empathy for pain provided that attention is directed toward pain.Aqueous Zn-based hybrid energy storage devices (HESDs) exhibit great potential for large-scale energy storage applications for the merits of environmental friendliness, low redox potential, and high theoretical capacity of Zn anode. However, they are still subjected to low specific capacities since adsorption-type cathodes (i.e., activated carbon, hard carbon) have limited capability to accommodate active ions. Herein, a hierarchical porous activated carbon cathode (HPAC) is prepared via an in situ two-step activation strategy, different from the typical one-step/postmortem activation of fully carbonized precursors. The strategy endows the HPAC with a high specific surface area and a large mesoporous volume, and thus provides abundant active sites and fast kinetics for accommodating active ions. Consequently, pairing the HPAC with Zn anode yields an aqueous Zn-based HESD, which delivers a high specific capacity of 231 mAh g-1 at 0.5 A g-1 and excellent rate performance with a retained capacity of 119 mAh g-1 at 20 A g-1 , the best result among previously reported lithium-free HESDs based on carbon cathodes. Further, the aqueous Zn-based HESD shows ultra-long cycling stability with a capacity retention of ≈70% after 18 000 cycles at 10 A g-1 , indicating great potential for environmentally friendly, low-cost, and high-safety energy storage applications.
Compared with other cancers, melanoma has the longest delays measured as the median time to patient presentation for care from symptom onset. Time to presentation for care is a key determinant of outcomes, including disease stage, prognosis, and treatment.

Melanoma survivors with localized disease and their skin check partners enrolled in two sequential randomized control trials of skin self-examination (SSE) training. In Phase 1, the pair read a workbook in the office and had quarterly total body skin examinations with a study dermatologist. In Phase 2, materials were mailed to pairs, whose surveillance was with a community physician. SSE knowledge, performance (frequency and extent), and identification of concerning moles were compared between phases.

Among 341 patients, 197 received the workbook and the others were controls. Knowledge in performing SSE was higher for the workbook relative to controls in both phases. The SSE frequency ranged from 2.38 to 5.97 times in 9months. Patients randomized to the workbook in both phases performed significantly more SSE than controls at 9months (P<.05). In both phases, trained survivors performed significantly more SSEs on the scalp than controls at 9 and 18months (P<.05). Phase 1 survivors performed significantly more SSEs on the abdomen, buttocks, and soles of the feet than controls, but this did not occur in Phase 2. Finally, in both phases, survivors trained with the workbook resulted in greater detection of suspicious lesions and melanomas.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the 17-item Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK) in youth.

=14.1years, SD
=2.51) scheduled for major surgery who were assessed before surgery, while in hospital postoperatively, and at 6 and 12months after surgery. Exploratory factor analyses (EFA) were conducted to determine the factor structure of pre-operative TSK scores. Reliability, and convergent, discriminant, and predictive validity were examined.

EFA on the 17-item TSK revealed a two-factor model distinguishing the 13 positively scored items from the 4 reverse scored items, but the fit was poor. CBL0137 A second EFA was conducted on the 13 positively scored items (TSK-13) revealing a three-factor model Fear of injury, bodily vulnerability, and activity avoidance. The TSK-13 showed adequate internal consistency (Ω=0.82) and weak convergent validity. The TSK-13 was not correlated with postoperative, in-hospital phym modified scale (TSK-13) are promising.
Kinesiophobia is an important construct to evaluate in the transition from acute to chronic pain among children and adolescents. The 17 item Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK) does not show adequate validity or reliability in youth undergoing major surgery, however, the psychometric properties of a 13-item modified scale (TSK-13) are promising.
