The reduced resolving ability of the cellZscope platform may be due to its electrode configuration, which is necessary to allow access to the basolateral compartment, an important advantage of this instrument. Collectively, this work demonstrates that instruments must be carefully selected to ensure they are appropriate for the experimental questions being asked when assessing endothelial barrier properties.For the first time, an alternative way of improving the stability of Cu-based thermoelectric materials is proposed, with the investigation of two different copper chalcogenide-copper tetrahedrite composites, rich in sulfur and selenium anions, respectively. Based on the preliminary DFT results, which indicate the instability of Sb-doped copper chalcogenide, the Cu1.97S-Cu12Sb4S13 and Cu2-xSe-Cu3SbSe3 composites are obtained using melt-solidification techniques, with the tetrahedrite phase concentration varying from 1 to 10 wt.%. Room temperature structural analysis (XRD, SEM) indicates the two-phase structure of the materials, with ternary phase precipitates embed within the copper chalcogenide matrix. The proposed solution allows for successful blocking of excessive Cu migration, with stable electrical conductivity and Seebeck coefficient values over subsequent thermal cycles. The materials exhibit a p-type, semimetallic character with high stability, represented by a near-constant power factor (PF)-temperature dependences between individual cycles. Finally, the thermoelectric figure-of-merit ZT parameter reaches about 0.26 (623 K) for the Cu1.97S-Cu12Sb4S13 system, in which case increasing content of tetrahedrite is a beneficial effect, and about 0.44 (623 K) for the Cu2-xSe-Cu3SbSe3 system, where increasing the content of Cu3SbSe3 negatively influences the thermoelectric performance.Human Cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a widespread pathogen that causes lifelong latent infection and is associated with the exacerbation of chronic inflammatory diseases in seropositive individuals. Of particular impact, HCMV infection is known to worsen many cardiovascular diseases including myocarditis, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and transplant vasculopathy. Due to its similarity to HCMV, murine CMV (MCMV) is an appropriate model to understand HCMV-induced pathogenesis in the heart and vasculature. MCMV shares similar sequence homology and recapitulates much of the HCMV pathogenesis, including HCMV-induced cardiovascular diseases. Despite the short half-lives in tissues, chronic exposure to phthalates will adversely influence the endocrine system and functioning of multiple organs, which has negative long-term impacts on the success of pregnancy, child growth and development, and reproductive systems in both young children and adolescents. Several countries have established restrictions and regulations on some types of phthalates; however, we think that more countries should establish constraints or substitute measures for phthalates to reduce health risks. This article aims to summarize the adverse impacts of phthalates on human health, analyze the toxicity mechanism, assess the risks, and finally provide feasible strategies to reduce exposure of the public to phthalates.

this study aimed to identify the levels of burnout among health-care professionals currently working at Assiut University hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic.
the current study adopted an online cross-sectional design using the SurveyMonkey
website for data collection. A total of 201 physicians were included and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) scale was used to assess the three burnout syndrome dimensions emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment.
about one-third, two-thirds, and one-quarter of the respondents had high emotional exhaustion, high depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment, respectively. Younger, resident, and single physicians reported higher burnout scores. The personal accomplishment score was significantly higher among males. Those working more than eight hours/day and dealing with COVID-19 patients had significantly higher scores.

Preventive and interventive programs should be applied in health-care organizations during pandemics.Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) and its structurally-related caffeic acid (CA), ferulic acid (FA) and ethyl ferulate (EF) are constituents of honeybee propolis that have important pharmacological activities. This study found that CAPE-but not CA, FA, and EF-could effectively prevent cellular DNA damage induced by overloaded iron through decreasing the labile iron pool (LIP) levels in HeLa cells. Interestingly, CAPE was found to be more effective than CA in protecting against plasmid DNA damage induced by Fe(II)-H2O2 or Fe(III)-citrate-ascorbate-H2O2 via the inhibition of hydroxyl radical (•OH) production. We further provided more direct and unequivocal experimental evidences for the formation of inactive CAPE/CA-iron complexes. CAPE was found to have a stronger iron-binding ability and a much higher lipophilicity than CA. Taken together, we propose that the esterification of the carboxylic moiety with phenethyl significantly enhanced the iron-binding ability and lipophilicity of CAPE, which is also responsible for its potent protection against iron-mediated cellular DNA damage.
