each sample data. Suitable fixed effects (FE) and random effects (RE) models with cluster-robust standard errors were applied to quantify the district-specific associations of meteorological and other variables with COVID-19 cases. Results All FE models revealed that every one-degree rise in AT led to a decrease in 3.909 points (on average) in percent increase in COVID-19 cases. All RE models showed that with one unit increase in the malaria annual parasite index, there was a significant increase in 10.835 points (on average) in percent increase in COVID-19 cases. In both FE and RE models, ARH was found to be negatively associated with a percent increase in COVID-19 cases, although in half of these models the association was statistically insignificant. Conclusion Our results indicate that mean temperature, mean relative humidity, and malaria endemicity might have an essential role in the stability and transmissibility of the 2019 novel coronavirus. Objective To discover the function of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) in ASXL1-mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients. Methods We analyzed the prognostic value of ASXL1 mutations and explored the role of allo-HSCT in 581 AML patients. Results According to the definition of intermediate- and adverse-risk AML groups in the European Leukemia Net (ELN), ASXL1-mutated patients had shorter OS and DFS than ASXL1-wild-type patients in the intermediate- and adverse-risk AML groups (3-year OS 47.5% vs. 60.8%, P less then 0.001; 3-year DFS 28.5% vs. 48.9%, P less then 0.001). Among the cytogenetically normal acute myeloid leukemia (CN-AML), differences were found in both OS (47.4% vs.65.2%, P less then 0.001) and DFS (21.0% vs. 52.1%, P less then 0.001) between ASXL1-mutated patients and ASXL1 wild-type patients. In the ASXL1-mutated AML cohort, the patients received allo-HSCT had longer 3-year OS (P=0.0005) and 3-year DFS (P less then 0.0001) than those who did not receive allo-HSCT. Multivariate analysis revealed that ASXL1 mutation was an independent prognostic factor for OS (HR 2.248, 95% CI 1.155-4.375, P=0.017), and allo-HSCT had a positive impact on OS (HR 7.568, 95% CI 3.597-15.92, P less then 0.001) and DFS (HR 2.611, 95% CI 1.688-4.039, P less then 0.001) in ASXL1-mutated patients. Conclusion The results indicate that the presence of ASXL1 mutations is a factor predictive of poor prognosis in AML patients and allo-HSCT could improve the survival of AML patients with ASXL1 mutations.By 2050, 22.1% of the United States population will be 65 years or older, increasing the demand for well-trained, enthusiastic professionals to serve them. At the same time, later life is frequently pathologized, and there continues to be a preference for youth by those who are yet to be old as well as older adults themselves. The growing divide between this expanding cohort and gero-focused professionals is exacerbated by the under-emphasis on gerontology in undergraduate higher education and the substantial shift toward online instruction and larger class sizes in the U.S. In this quasi-experimental study, researchers examined whether a gerontology-focused empathy-building intervention (EBI) in 2 semesters of an online undergraduate course on aging changed students' attitudes toward older adults, aging anxiety, and interest in gero-focused careers, compared with 2 control semesters taught without the EBI. Statistical results showed that neither the EBI nor course completion without the EBI significantly shifted students' gero-attitudes and interest, suggesting the necessity of earlier and varied interventions to combat negative stereotypes about aging. Qualitative results provided some indication of the possible impact of the EBI. We describe study design, implementation, challenges, and areas for future intervention and study. The term 'blesser' emerged from social media in South Africa, typically denoting an older man who provides a younger woman with money and/or luxury items in exchange for sex. Within an increasingly consumerist culture, such transactional sexual relationships hold powerful appeal, and remain highly prevalent. An estimated one in three Black South African women have engaged in transactional sex. selleck products While these liaisons are associated with negative health outcomes for women, especially in high HIV prevalence settings, attention to how they affect Black women's sexuality is under-studied-especially with respect to emotional and sexual development-an important part of sexual rights and wellbeing. We used qualitative methods to investigate 22 women's experiences with blessers. A sexual rights framework was utilised to explore human rights dimensions. We found women's rights to engage in consensual sex, pursue sexual pleasure and ensure their bodily integrity were compromised. Many participants recognised the psychological costs and limitations of engaging in blesser relationships. Women communicated that they realised such partnerships failed to meet their emotional and relationship needs. Against the backdrop of structural gender inequality, Black South African women's narratives should inform research, programmes and educational interventions aimed at advancing women's sexual development, rights and wellbeing. Objective Young players experience pressure to focus on ice hockey at the exclusion of other sports in order to improve chances of success. Early specialization in other sports has been associated with increased injury without the benefit of improved success. The objective of the current study was to investigate whether earlier specialization results in increased injury without higher rates of career success. This study also aimed to compare rates of injury in athletes at various levels of competition. Methods An original survey was issued to men's ice hockey players at the juniorA, collegiate, and professional levels. The survey consisted of 34 questions on various demographic, specialization, and injury variables. All participants were >18 years of age. Results The survey was completed by 101 athletes. The mean age at specialization was 13 (±4) overall and 14 (±3), 13 (±4), and 11(±4) for professional, collegiate, and junior players, respectively. There was no difference in age at specialization between each group and professional players did not specialize earlier than the remainder of the cohort as a whole (p > 0.
