Tactical outcomes regarding right-versus left-sided colon cancer along with anal cancers within The united kingdom: The propensity-score matched population-based cohort research.
It is difficult to achieve accurate root-end resection clinically. This
study was conducted to evaluate the operation accuracy of a digital endodontic surgical guide.

56 extracted maxillary anterior teeth were prepared for endodontic surgical models. The models were randomly divided into 4 groups equally according to the guide (with guide/no guide) and the operator (experienced/inexperienced). Endodontic microsurgeries were performed on models in each group. The deviations in length and angle of the root-end resection were measured based on the optical scanning data of the pre- and postoperative teeth. The general linear model was performed to analyze the effect of a guide on root-end resection deviation.

Using a guide, the mean length deviation for experienced/inexperienced operators reduced from 0.99 mm (95% CI [confidence interval, CI], 0.66-1.33 mm)/1.18 mm (95% CI, 0.50-1.86 mm) to 0.31 mm (95% CI, 0.20-0.42 mm)/0.31 mm (95% CI, 0.24-0.37 mm). The mean angle deviation for experienced/inexperienced operators reduced from 16.74° (95% CI, 10.61-22.86°)/15.06° (95% CI, 9.19-20.94°) to 5.04° (95% CI, 3.31-6.77°)/6.79° (95% CI, 4.91-8.67°). The difference was significant between procedures performed with and without a guide (
 < 0.01).

Application of the digital guide in
endodontic surgery could improve the accuracy of root-end resection.

The purposes of this study were to develop smile measurements for lateral and oblique view photographs to help in orthodontic analysis and treatment planning, to quantitatively evaluate the relationship between smile esthetics and different types of malocclusion using lateral and oblique view photographs, to identify the cephalometric factors affecting smile measurements.

Patients who came to orthodontic department of a university hospital from 2014 to 2017 and met the inclusion criteria were included and divided into three groups according to Angle's classification. Thirteen variables were measured for cephalometric analysis. Twenty-one variables were developed and measured on pretreatment photographs for lateral and oblique smile analysis. ANOVA and Scheffe post hoc test were used to compare cephalometric and smile variables among three groups. Multiple linear regression analysis was performed to identify cephalometric factors affecting smile measurements.

Three-hundred and ninety patients (287 females, 103 males) with mean age of 24.5 ± 7.6 years reached the criteria. All cephalometric variables differed significantly among three groups. Except for maxillary teeth exposure number, visible maxillary width, and lip thickness ratio, all smile variables differed significantly. Smile characteristics had significant correlation with some cephalometric measurements.

Smile patterns on the lateral and oblique view photographs can be affected by different types of malocclusion. Therefore, we suggest to include lateral and oblique smile view photographs in the data collection for orthodontic treatment planning.

Antimicrobial activity and biocompatibility of root canal sealer are related to the success of endodontic treatments. This study investigated the efficacy of mixture of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and a NO-releasing compound for the antimicrobial activity, biocompatibility, and physical properties.

MTA was mixed with diethylenetriamine-NO (MTA-NO), and the extracts from MTA and the MTA-NO mixture before and after setting was obtained were investigated the antimicrobial activity against
and
. After setting MTA and MTA-NO, pulp cell was incubated in the presence of MTA and MTA-NO disk using Transwell® cell culture insert, and the proliferation assay and mineralization-stimulated factors of the cells were analyzed by MTT assay and real-time RT-PCR, respectively. The physical properties of MTA and the MTA-NO mixture, such as surface hardness and flowability was also analyzed.

The MTA-NO mixture showed stronger antimicrobial activity against
and
than that by MTA. Both MTA and MTA-NO mixture increase the ratio of cell proliferation and induced the expression of alkaline phosphatase, collagen type I, osteocalcin, and osteopontin. Moreover, the induction of gene expression by MTA-NO mixture was higher than that by MTA alone. check details No significant difference was observed for surface hardness and flowability between MTA and MTA-NO mixture.

The addition of a NO-releasing compound to the endodontic treatment using MTA root canal sealer might reduce the risk of bacterial infection and help to regenerate the dental pulp tissue.

Sprouty (SPRY) has four isoforms, SPRY1-4, and its deficiency produces haphazard 'sprouting' of tracheal tubules. This study investigated SPRY1 protein expression in human oral potentially malignant disorders (OPMDs) and oral squamous cell carcinomas (OSCCs).

90 OSCCs, 10 OPMDs with malignant transformation (MT), 17 OPMDs without MT, and six normal oral mucosa (NOM) tissue samples were subjected to immunohistochemical staining. Three human oral cancer cell lines (OCCLs), an oral precancer cell line (DOK), and a primary culture of normal oral keratinocytes (HOK) were used for western blotting.

Significantly increased expression of SPRY1 protein from NOM and OPMD without MT to OSCC was observed. The protein expressions of SPRY1 in OCCLs were significantly enhanced as compared with DOK and HOK. Increased phosphor/total-ERK expression was observed in OCCLs as compared with HOK. A significantly increased SPRY1 protein level was noted in OPMDs with MT as compared with those without MT, in addition to a significant increase in DOK in comparison with HOK.
