Hair fiber surface and relief were evaluated by SEM image analysis.
Swatches bleached and treated with both evaluated products had a significant increase in resistance and reduced structural damage. Swatches colored and treated with both evaluated products showed reduced structural damage, and a significant increase in resistance and luster after the 1st and 5th washes.
The proposed product was effective in protecting and repairing bleached and colored swatches, improving resistance and luster and reducing structural damage. By applying complementary techniques within a reliable evaluation protocol, it was possible to attest the protective properties of the product under study.

Pelvic vein thrombosis (PVT) is a rare complication of pregnancy that can lead to life-threatening complications, such as pulmonary embolism (PE).
To describe characteristics of PVT and its treatment in pregnancy in the province of Quebec, Canada.
We developed a province-wide case series of PVT in pregnancy including four tertiary care centers and the Registry of Rare Diseases of the Groupe d'Étude en Médecine Obstétricale du Québec. Using diagnostic codes, we included cases with confirmed PVT on imaging during pregnancy or within 6weeks postpartum from July 2003 to June 2018.
A total of 47 cases were identified. PVT diagnosis was generally made in the early postpartum period (median of 9 [interquartile range (IQR) 4.5-12] days postpartum). Most PVT (94%) included in this series were symptomatic. Women presented primarily with abdominal pain (77%) and fever (55%), often prolonged despite antibiotics (mean 4.45±2.39days, with 39% having fever for more than 5days). RAD1901 progestogen Receptor agonist The most common risk factor was surgery (57%) and peripartum infections (54%). Thirty-eight (83%) women received antibiotics and 41 (89%) were anticoagulated. Three cases of PE (7%) occurred concomitantly, 11% of women required intensive care, and 19% had inferior vena cava (IVC) clot extension. The episode resulted in prolonged hospitalization (median 6 [IQR 3-10.75] days), with 48% being hospitalized more than 7days.
Symptomatic PVT has significant clinical implications with prolonged fever and risks of extension in the IVC and PE, leading to prolonged hospitalization including in the intensive care unit. Therapeutic anticoagulation and antibiotics, when infection is documented, should be considered for management.

A bibliographic search was performed on the PubMed platform using the following keywords "Bisphenol A" OR "BPA" AND "resin composite" OR "composite resin" AND "toxicity" OR "cytotoxicity" OR "release". Inclusion criteria involved in vitro and in vivo studies on the release and toxicity of BPA. Results highlighted the release of BPA from resin-matrix composites due to insufficient polymerization and/or degradation of the polymeric matrix. BPA is part of the organic matrix of resin-matrix composites and may be hydrolysed in human saliva, although studies report that low doses might not be detected by traditional chemical analysis. Studies exposing zebrafish embryos to different concentrations of Bis-GMA, showed 55% mortality at 10 μM Bis-GMA while 30% mortality was recorded at 1 μM Bis-GMA. In patients, a BPA concentration of around 2.09 × 10-2 μg/ml was found in the saliva after placement of lingual orthodontic retainers with resin-matrix composites. Also, the BPA molecule can be swallowed and absorbed by the oral/gastrointestinal mucosa, which might result in systemic toxicity. The degradation of resin-matrix composites and release of BPA in oral environment are dependent on the organic matrix content and on the polymerization method. A increased release of BPA can lead to the absorption into oral and gastrointestinal mucosa with high risks of local and systemic toxicity.Four silver(I) (Ag(I)) complexes 1.PF6 , 2.PF6 , 1.ClO4 and 2.ClO4 of bis(methyl)thia salen (1) and bis (methyl)selena salen (2) with two different counter anions (PF6 - and ClO4 - ) have been investigated for DNA binding properties. In vitro interactional association between the Ag(I) complexes and ct-DNA has been examined by performing spectroscopic titrations on absorption spectrophotometer and fluorescence spectrophotometer. A competitive binding study has also been done using a fluorescence spectrophotometer with ethidium bromide as a classical intercalator. The spectroscopic methods revealed a major groove. Viscometry and agarose gel electrophoresis experiments have also been performed as physicochemical methods to confirm the binding of complex molecules with DNA. Molecular docking analysis has been executed to obtain the theoretical insight into the mode of binding. The docking study demonstrated the major groove binding of all four complexes to the DNA with electrostatic metal-phosphate interactions (between the metal and the backbone of DNA) and hydrophobic interactions. Cytotoxicity of the complexes has been studied on the Human Fibroblast foreskin (HFF) cell line. The cytotoxicity results showed positive gesture for moving ahead to the next level of screening; the values were above 10 μM which are appreciated for the normal cell lines.Assessing the effect mentors have on their mentees is methodologically challenging most programs merely provide relatively short mentoring durations (typically in the range of 1 year), age ranges are usually rather small, and examining dyads with anything other than questionnaires has proven to be challenging in the past. Thus, although some excellent causal studies do exist, in general causal research is limited in the field and studies are opened up to social desirability. Using a controlled laboratory setting, the current study investigates the causal effect of a mentor's presence on the mentee's empathic accuracy, cognitive functioning, and prosocial behavior. The sample is characterized by a wide age range for mentees and long mentoring durations. Results support the hypothesis that mentees' performance is improved in all three domains when their mentor is present as compared to when their mentor is absent. Furthermore, mentoring duration was positively associated with the mentee's cognitive functioning when controlling for the mentee's age.
