However, individuals who are already being treated for these diseases are unlikely to benefit from health checkup participation. check details This retrospective cohort study of older adults evaluated the associations of pharmacological treatments for these diseases with health checkup participation and identified the disease control factors among patients receiving treatments. Using medical claims data and health checkup data between September 2013 and August 2014 from 820,215 older adults aged ≥ 75 years residing in Tokyo, Japan, we examined the associations between pharmacological treatments and health checkup participation using binary logistic regression analysis. Next, patients receiving pharmacological treatments were categorized into intensive, moderate, or limited disease control based on their blood pressure, hemoglobin A1c levels, and lipid levels; multinomial logistic regression analyses were used to identify the disease control factors. The results showed that patients receiving pharmacological treatments were more likely (odds ratio 1.374; P less then 0.001) to participate in health checkups than patients not receiving treatments. Patients with intensive disease control were more likely to be aged ≥ 90 years and use home medical care than patients with moderate control. Our findings suggest that it may be beneficial to shift the focus of health checkups from simply identifying at-risk patients to also supporting disease management. Information obtained from databases that link medical claims and health checkup data may improve evaluations of disease control in older adults and help to streamline healthcare systems. © 2019 The Authors.1-n-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium methyl sulfate is incorporated into MIL-53(Al). Detailed characterization is done by X-ray fluorescence, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller surface area, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Results show that ionic liquid (IL) interacts directly with the framework, significantly modifying the electronic environment of MIL-53(Al). Based on the volumetric gas adsorption measurements, CO2, CH4, and N2 adsorption capacities decreased from 112.0, 46.4, and 19.6 cc (STP) gMIL-53(Al) -1 to 42.2, 13.0, and 4.3 cc (STP) gMIL-53(Al) -1 at 5 bar, respectively, upon IL incorporation. Data show that this postsynthesis modification leads to more than two and threefold increase in the ideal selectivity for CO2 over CH4 and N2 separations, respectively, as compared with pristine MIL-53(Al). The isosteric heat of adsorption (Qst) values show that IL incorporation increases CO2 affinity and decreases CH4 and N2 affinities. Cycling adsorption-desorption measurements show that the composite could be regenerated with almost no decrease in the CO2 adsorption capacity for six cycles and confirm the lack of any significant IL leaching. The results offer MIL-53(Al) as an excellent platform for the development of a new class of IL/MOF composites with exceptional performance for CO2 separation. © 2019 The Authors. Inspired by these dual functions, herein, we report a new type of healable mechanochromic (HMC) material. The bifunctional HMC material consists of two tightly bonded layers. One layer is composed of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) for shielding. Another layer contains supramolecular hydrogen bonding polymers and fluorochromes for healing. The as-synthesized HMC material exhibits a tunable and reversible mechanochromic function due to the strain-induced surface structure of composite film. The mechanochromic function can be further restored after damage because of the incorporated healable polyurethane. The healing efficiency of the damaged HMC materials can even reach 98 % at 60 °C for 6 h. KGaA, Weinheim.The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of an extract of Qiweibaizhu powder combined with Debaryomyces hansenii on the gut microbiota of antibiotic-treated mice with diarrhea. Mice were gavaged with a mixture of gentamycin sulfate and cefradine to induce diarrhea. After diarrhea was observed, 25% dose of ultra-micro Qiweibaizhu powder extract combined with 25% dose of Debaryomyces hansenii (QCD) was gavaged to mice with diarrhea. DNA of intestinal contents in mice was extracted for 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis by high-throughput sequencing following treatment finished. The results showed that the QCD increased the species richness and diversity, but did not recover the diversity to the original level. Antibiotics and QCD significantly altered the composition of gut microbiota at different taxonomic levels. At the genus level, the relative abundance of Bacteroidales S24-7 group_unidentified and Bacteroides returned to baseline after QCD treatment. Additionally, QCD suppressed the growth of Oscillospira and Ruminococcus, and promoted the proliferation of Erysipelotrichaceae_norank and Blautia compared with the healthy and diarrheal mice.
