Overall, the obtained results suggested that the developed skin tissue constructs possess the enormous potential for tissue regeneration and might be a suitable biomaterial for skin tissue engineering applications. In the current study, the therapeutic potential of cerium oxide nanoparticles (nCeO2) was investigated in a human tau (htau) model of Alzheimer's disease (AD), using Drosophila melanogaster as an in vivo model. nCeO2 synthesised via the hydroxide-mediated approach were characterised using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses and Raman spectroscopy. Characterisation studies confirmed the formation of pure cubic-structured nCeO2 and showed that the particles were spherically shaped, with an average size between 20 and 25 nm. The synthesised nCeO2 were then administered as part of the diet to transgenic Drosophila for one month, at 0.1 and 1 mM concentrations, and its effect on the biochemical levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), acetylcholinesterase (AChE), and the climbing activity of flies were studied in a pan-neuronal model (elav; htau) of AD. YM155 Using an eye-specific model of htau expression (GMR; htau), the effect of nCeO2 on htau and autophagy-related (ATG) gene expression was also studied. Dietary administration of nCeO2 at a concentration of 1 mM restored the activity of SOD similar to that of control, but both concentrations of nCeO2 failed to modulate the level of AChE, and did not elicit any significant improvements in the climbing activity of elav; htau flies. Moreover, nCeO2 at a concentration of 1 mM significantly affected the climbing activity of elav; htau flies. nCeO2 also elicited a significant decrease in htau gene expression at both concentrations and increased the mRNA expression of key autophagy genes ATG1 and ATG18. The results therefore indicate that nCeO2 aids in replenishing the levels of SOD and tau clearance via the activation of autophagy. The plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) can improve the biotic or abiotic stress condition by exploiting the productivity and plant growth of the plants under stressful conditions. This study examines the role of a rhizospheric bacterial isolate Kosakonia pseudosacchari TCPS-4 isolated from cluster bean plant (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) under dryland condition. The low-cost media engineering was evaluated, and the phosphate-solubilizing and IAA-producing abilities of Kosakonia pseudosacchari TCPS-4 were improved using a hybrid statistical tool viz. Multi-objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA). Further, the effect of carbon and nitrogen media constituents and their interactions on IAA production and phosphate solubilization were also confirmed by a single-factor experiment assay. This revealed that MOGA-based model depicted 47.5 mg/L inorganic phosphate as the highest phosphate concentration in media containing 45 g/L carbon source, 12 g/L nitrogen source and 0.20 g/L MgSO4. The highest IAA production was 18.74 mg/L in media containing 45 g/L carbon source, 12 g/L nitrogen source and 0.2 g/L MgSO4. These values were also confirmed and measured by the experiments with phosphate solubilization of 45.71 mg/L and IAA production of 18.71 mg/L with 1012 cfu/mL. This concludes that effective media engineering using these statistical tools can enhance the phosphate and IAA production by each model. A good correlation between measured and predicted values of each model confirms the validity of both responses. The present study gives an insight on media engineering for phosphate and IAA production by Kosakonia pseudosacchari TCPS-4.In the present study, an eco-friendly approach is adapted for the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (rGO's) by a simple hydrothermal reaction using two plant extracts namely Acalypha indica and Raphanus sativus. After the hydrothermal reaction, GO turns into a black color from brown color, which indicates the successful reduction of graphene oxide. Further, various characterization techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray diffraction is used to confirm the physicochemical properties of synthesized rGO's. Raman analysis confirms the reduction of GO by noticing an increase in the ID/IG ratio significantly. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy clearly show the morphology and crystalline nature of rGO's. FT-IR spectrum confirms that the bioactive molecules of the plant extract (i.e. polyphenols, flavonoids, terpenoids, etc.) playing a key role in the elimination of oxygen groups from the GO surface. Further, the synthesized rGO's are tested for their potential against human lung and breast cancer cell lines. A significant cancer cell inhibition activity is obtained even in the less concentration of rGO's with IC50 values for lung cancer cell lines are 38.46 µg/mL and 26.69 µg/mL for AIrGO and RSrGO, respectively. Similarly, IC50 values for breast cancer cell lines are 35.97 µg/mL and 33.22 µg/mL for AIrGO and RSrGO, respectively.Infectious diseases afflict human beings since ancient times. We can classify the infectious disease in two principal types the emerging diseases, that are caused by new pathogens, and the re-emerging diseases, due to a new spread of a known pathogen. Both types can then be subdivided in natural, accidental or intentional spreads. The risk associated to infectious diseases strongly increased in the last decades, especially because of the globalisation, which leads to a denser and more efficient link between nations, involving that a local infectious may easily spread worldwide, such as the SARS-CoV-2 in 2019-2020. The development of new methods to predict the spread of diseases is crucial. However, sometimes the variables are too many that classical algorithms fail in the prediction. Aim of this work is to investigate the use of an ensemble of recurrent neural networks for disease prediction, using real flu's data to train and develop an instrument with the capability to determine the future flues. Two different types of study have been conducted. The first study investigates the influence of the neural network architecture, and it has been performed using 12 seasons to train the model and 3 seasons to test it. The second test aims to investigate the number of seasons needed to have a good prediction for future ones. The results demonstrated that this approach could ensure very high performances also with simple architectures. The ensemble approach allows to have information about the uncertainty of the prediction, allowing also to take countermeasures as a function of that value. In the future, the use of this approach may be applied to many other types of disease.
