Bedside Cot Reviews
A bedside crib, also known as a bassinet for babies, is placed near your bed so that you can safely take care of your child during feedings at night and nappy-changings without having to leave your bed. These cribs are great for helping to build independence for your child as they get more comfortable in their own space to sleep.
The Joie Roomie Glide
The Joie Roomie Glide crib is an ideal bedside crib that allows parents to rest with their newborn while ensuring that they are safe to sleep. Its smooth gliding motion is able to ease your baby back to sleep. Its innovative features ensure that you can monitor them without having to leave your bed.
The cot's sliding side panel lifts and lowers with the touch of an button, making it easy to reach inside and soothe a crying infant at night. It comes with 11 height adjustments that can be adjusted to fit almost any mattress size. It also has adjustable folding feet so that it's at the correct level.
The cot is cushioned and has mesh sides to increase ventilation, and its mattress is made of high-density, foam for extra protection. It's also washable so you can keep it clean. Additionally, it comes with a fitted sheet that is suitable for use with the cot.
Unlike some other bedside cribs like the Roomie Glide is suitable for most beds, including divans thanks to its straps and clip attachment. It can also be used as a standalone crib when not attached to your bed, and it's full of amazing features that were designed with parent-baby bonding in mind.
One thing to keep in mind is that while this crib is perfect for infants, it will not last long after your child is six months old, which means you'll have to purchase an additional cot. However, overall Roanna felt that the Joie Roomie Glide was a really good buy and she was particularly impressed by its elegant design.
The Roomie Glide is available to purchase at John Lewis for PS160, which Roanna thought was an affordable price for a cot with the most innovative features. She also liked the way it looked in the bedroom and believed that its grey colour is a good fit for modern homes. However, she did point out that it isn't a great idea to rock a young baby because it can set an unhealthy habit that can affect later sleep patterns.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning crib for bed designed to ensure a peaceful night's sleep in mind. It has an adjustable side rail that can be easily adjusted to feed your child during the night without disturbing them or forcing them out of bed. This is great for mothers who breastfeed! It's also lightweight, which makes it easy to move around the house during nap time and also for travel.
We love that it's made from soft materials with breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and comfort. It comes in oak or charcoal with a range of melange fabrics that can be incorporated with all styles of decor. Anna found it sturdy and secure when affixed to her bed, with the legs securely snapping into the frame and the zips securely secured for baby-safety. It took her about 10 minutes to assemble it and did not require tools, and comes with clear instructions and a video or support number available if you run into any issues.
As well as the usual features you'd expect from a crib for your bed, like being able to connect to your existing bed using a stay-in-place connector system and six levels of height The CoZee also comes with an additional incline option that can be used to help aid congestion or reflux in babies. It's also machine washable, a essential feature with all the dribble, vomit and snot that come with having a new baby!
The CoZee is a fantastic option to keep your child close during the first six months of acquiring the ability to sleep independently. It can be used as a cot, changing station and toddler bed. It can even be converted into a sofa bed with the addition of an extension pack. While it won't be able to magically put your baby to sleep or feed them, it can rock the baby and take them to school.
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's most expensive options, but it comes with a lot of features. It's designed to be used as a side sleeper or a standalone crib, and is suitable from birth up to six months. small bedside cot to open and close the side panel with a new mechanism. It's also more adjustable than its predecessor, having 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to installation under any bed.
Our testers appreciated the ease of use offered by the side panel, that can be moved up and downwards with just one click of a switch. This was a huge benefit during night time feeds as it meant that they could easily reach inside and pick up their baby without waking them.
It is possible to lower the side panel itself, but this isn't recommended, since it increases the likelihood that your child will fall out of the cot. The safety locking system ensures that the side panel will stay down if it is properly attached to the parent's mattress. This feature is great to have peace of mind when you're breastfeeding and require frequent night feeds.
Telescopic legs enable the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, such as divan bases or beds with drawers. It also comes with a tilting function to help babies who are refluxy and a rocking mode that can bring them back to sleep after eating. It's also very spacious and has excellent ventilation due to its mesh sides.
Our test subjects found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, although it comes with a long instruction manual. It's a bit heavier than other side-sleepers, but it's very mobile and can be moved from room room easily. It can also be folded into a travel bag which is a great option if you want to transport it. The only drawback our testers found was that the side panel did not flex like some of the other models, which made it slightly harder to see your baby from your bed.
The Shnuggle Air
If you're looking for a bedside crib that will expand with your child then the Shnuggle Air is definitely worth a look. It is designed to be a co-sleeping bassinet that will attach securely to your bed, but can also convert into a chic cot when your baby is ready. It's perfect for night-time feeds and fostering a bond with your newborn.
The Shnuggle Air crib is designed to breathe, which is different from other models. Its dual-view mesh sides and the airflow mattress, which is hypoallergenic and breathable increase airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. The gentle slope can help alleviate colic and reflux. The zip-down side lets you to feed your baby or comfort them during the night.
The cot conversion kit (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear directions and everything you require to begin. It took us about an hour to put together and was fairly straightforward. The only drawback was the absence of captions in writing on some of the pictures, which made it difficult to comprehend some of the steps. However, it was a straightforward procedure and the quality of the materials used was high.
In the co-sleeping mode, we found the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent option for breastfeeding mothers and women who have had a c-section as it allows them to easily reach out to their newborn for comfort and feeding without having to get up from their own bed. It's a great option for parents who don't want to deal with the hassle of putting their baby in a traditional cot or getting them out of it.
During our testing we observed the gliding motion of this next-to-me crib to be especially helpful when it comes to helping babies fall asleep after feedings at night and midday. The drop-down side can be accessible to feed or soothe babies in the middle of the night and was a major selling point for our exhausted test moms. Although it doesn't rock or have additional features, like a sound system the Joie Roomie Glide's elegant design and practicality are a welcome addition our top crib reviews for bed.
