This research has produced strong disciplinary knowledge and a number of injury prevention programmes. Yet, the injury rate continues to be high, especially in youth sport and youth football. A key reason for the continued high injury rate is the development of injury prevention programmes based on monodisciplinary knowledge that does not account for the complex nature of sport injury aetiology. The purpose of this paper is to consider and outline an interdisciplinary research process to research the complex nature of sport injury aetiology. To support our proposition, we first present a narrative review of existing youth football and youth sport injury research demonstrating an absence of paradigmatic integration across the research areas' main disciplines of biomedicine, psychology and sociology. We then demonstrate how interdisciplinary research can address the complexity of youth sport injury aetiology. Finally, we introduce the interdisciplinary process we have recently followed in a youth football injury research project. While further research is necessary, particularly regarding the integration of qualitative and quantitative sport injury data, we propose that the pragmatic interdisciplinary research process can be useful for researchers who aim to work across disciplines and paradigms and aim to employ methodological pluralism in their research.Acoustic wave resonators are promising candidates for gravimetric biosensing. However, they generally suffer from strong acoustic radiation in liquid, which limits their quality factor and increases their frequency noise. This article presents an acoustic radiation-free gravimetric biosensor based on a locally resonant surface phononic crystal (SPC) consisting of periodic high aspect ratio electrodes to address the above issue. The acoustic wave generated in the SPC is slower than the sound wave in water, hence it prevents acoustic propagation in the fluid and results in energy confinement near the electrode surface. This energy confinement results in a significant quality factor improvement and reduces frequency noise. The proposed SPC resonator is numerically studied by finite element analysis and experimentally implemented by an electroplating-based fabrication process. Experimental results show that the SPC resonator exhibits an in-liquid quality factor 15 times higher than a conventional Rayleigh wave resonator at a similar operating frequency. The proposed radiation suppression method using SPC can also be applied in other types of acoustic wave resonators. Thus, this method can serve as a general technique for boosting the in-liquid quality factor and sensing performance of many acoustic biosensors.
The use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is a safe and effective prevention option to all people at substantial risk of HIV acquisition, irrespective of gender. However, in most European countries PrEP services focus on key populations, in particular men who have sex with men (MSM). This study aims to explore PrEP availability and implementation for women across the European region.

An online survey was sent to all members of Women Against Viruses in Europe (WAVE) from 50 countries in September 2019. It consisted of 19 questions, including both multiple choice and free text answers.

In total, responses from 34 countries were included in the study (Western Europe n=12, Central Europe=12, Eastern Europe n=6). PrEP was accessible in 30 WHO European countries. click here More than half of them stated that PrEP was available for all groups at-risk of HIV acquisition (n=18), while in many countries PrEP was only available to MSM and transgender persons. Two-thirds of country respondents confirmed the availabilP in Europe remains limited. Women are often not included in the guidelines or targeted with education or information, resulting in a general lack of information about the use of PrEP for women.
This case report describes a 9-year-old neutered male cat with a functional adrenal tumor showing aggression toward other cats in the household, excessive meowing and urine spraying. The diagnosis was made based on the clinical signs, an enlarged right adrenal gland on ultrasound, penile spines and elevated sex hormones on an adrenocorticotropic hormone stimulation test. The cat was submitted to celiotomy and adrenalectomy. Histopathological examination confirmed the adrenocortical adenoma. Three months after surgery the penile spines disappeared and urine spraying, as well as excessive meowing, had greatly decreased; however, aggressive behavior took much longer to stop and required behavior therapy.

Functional adrenal tumors producing only sex hormones and behavioral changes are uncommon. The cat reported herein started showing behavioral changes before spines appeared on the penis, and structural alterations in the adrenal gland at the abdominal ultrasonography were detected. Considering all the possible implications resulting from severe behavior problems such as cat-cat aggression, from a permanent separation of the cats to relinquishment, a detailed investigation of underlying medical mechanisms in these animals is crucial from the start. Examinations may need to be repeated later in the course.
