Presently, miniaturized sensors can be embedded in any small-size wearable to recognize movements on some parts of the human body. For example, an electrooculography-based sensor in smart glasses recognizes finger movements on the nose. To explore the interaction capabilities, this paper conducts a gesture elicitation study as a between-subjects experiment involving one group of 12 females and one group of 12 males, expressing their preferred nose-based gestures on 19 Internet-of-Things tasks. Based on classification criteria, the 912 elicited gestures are clustered into 53 unique gestures resulting in 23 categories, to form a taxonomy and a consensus set of 38 final gestures, providing researchers and practitioners with a larger base with six design guidelines. To test whether the measurement method impacts these results, the agreement scores and rates, computed for determining the most agreed gestures upon participants, are compared with the Condorcet and the de Borda count methods to observe that the results remain consistent, sometimes with a slightly different order. To test whether the results are sensitive to gender, inferential statistics suggest that no significant difference exists between males and females for agreement scores and rates.The study area of this paper is the Qinghai alpine agricultural mountain area. An ecological security early-warning model is used to identify the early warning signs of ecosystem destruction, environmental pollution and resource depletion in districts and counties from 2011 to 2018. A combination of qualitative and quantitative early-warning models is used to predict the existence of hidden or sudden advance warnings. The grey (1, 1) model (GM) is used to predict the evolution trend of ecological security warning situations from 2019 to 2021. On this basis, GIS technology is used to analyze the spatial pattern changes in three periods. The results show that from 2011 to 2018, the ecological environment in Qinghai's alpine agricultural mountainous area gradually improved. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is characterized by hyperandrogenism, anovulation, infertility, obesity, and insulin resistance, which results in increased concentrations of testosterone (T), which disturbs follicular growth and ovulation. This study aimed to assess PCOS women's clinical, endocrinological, and metabolic parameters concerning hyperandrogenism severity.
314 women (mean age 27.3 ± 4.6; mean body mass index (BMI) 25.7 ± 5.6) with PCOS, were divided into terciles according to T concentrations <0.64 ng/mL (group 1), 0.64 to 0.84 ng/mL (Group 2) and >0.84 ng/mL (group 3). The mean concentration of T in all women was 0.59 ng/mL and correlated negatively with the number of menstrual cycles per year (MPY) (r = -0.36; p < 0.0001) and positively with Ferriman-Gallway score (FG) (r = 0.33; p < 0.0001), luteinizing hormone (LH) (r = 0.19; p < 0.0001) and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) (r = 0.52; p < 0.0001). Positive correlation between BMI and hirsutism (r = 0.16; p < 0.0001), total cholesterol (TC) (r = 0.18; p < 0.0001), low-density lipoprotein (LDL) (r = 0.29; p < 0.0001), and triglycerides (TG) (r = 0.40; p < 0.0001) was demonstrated. The division into subgroups confirmed the lowest MPY, highest LH, and hirsutism in group 3. BMI, insulin sensitivity indices, and lipid profile parameters were not different between the three T subgroups.
We found no correlation between testosterone levels and insulin sensitivity or dyslipidemia in women with PCOS. Metabolic abnormalities may contribute more significantly than hyperandrogenemia to PCOS development.
