Life change affects health. Research aimed at understanding the consequences of life change has primarily focused on the important roles played by stress, social support, individual differences, and broader socioeconomic factors in shaping health outcomes, most notably mental health decline. In this review we extend these accounts by exploring social identity-based determinants of adjustment to life change. We do so by drawing on social identity theorizing and, in particular, the Social Identity Model of Identity Change (SIMIC). This points to the importance of multiple, maintained, new, and compatible group memberships as determinants of people's responses and adjustment to life change. We apply this model to understand the health consequences of adjustment to life change in four diverse areas pursuit of higher education, migration, trauma and resilience, and recovery from illness and injury. Finally, we provide direction for future research on SIMIC and the health consequences of life change.Anatomical liver resection (ALR) is the preferred oncological approach for the treatment of primary liver malignancies, such as hepatocellular carcinoma and intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma. This long history of research has resulted in a broad and heterogenous epidemiological field whose implications are difficult to understand and whose methodological gaps are hard to track.

This systematic mapping review aims to systematically map clinical heterogeneity and methodological gaps in assessing the relationship between poor oral health and CVD outcomes.

Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library were searched to identify longitudinal studies that examined the relationship between any oral health indicator and CVD outcomes. Each database was searched from its inception date and June 27, 2018. Extracted data assess the clinical heterogeneity (participants' characteristics, exposure and outcome measures, length of follow-up) and methodological gaps (availability of randomized controlled trials, utilization of time-varying exposures, propensity methods, mediaticlinical heterogeneity and closing the identified methodological gaps.When a preterm neonate is born and needs to be taken care of in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), the mother experiences a different process of mothering. A grounded theory study was conducted to explore the maternal role attainment in mothers of preterm infants. The authors of this paper report the most prominent experience of Iranian mothers with preterm neonates during their stay in the NICU that emerged as part of the process of maternal role attainment. Data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews with mothers in the NICU. We found four categories as emerged from experiences that formed the concept of "emotional disorganization". We argue that these findings can help caregivers and nurses to provide sensitive and supportive care to mothers of preterm neonates.In Argentina, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is diagnosed by the Latin American Diabetes Association (ALAD) diagnostic criterion. In this work, we investigated GDM prevalence according to the ALAD and IADPSG diagnostic criteria, evaluated maternal and fetal outcomes and assessed whether fasting glycemia between 92-99 mg/dL was associated with increased risk of macrosomia and maternal obesity/overweight in an Argentine cohort of pregnant women. GDM prevalence was 9.8% with the ALAD diagnostic criterion and 25% considering the IADPSG criterion. Increased prevalence of maternal obesity/overweight was observed in patients with fasting glycemia over 99 mg/dL. A population of high metabolic risk is identified by the ALAD criterion.Patients' beliefs about medications are important predictors of medication adherence; however, the relationship between patient beliefs and adjuvant endocrine therapy (AET) adherence in patients with breast cancer remains unclear. In this study, we aimed to determine the association between patient beliefs and adherence to AET. Self-reported questionnaires covering necessity beliefs (NB), concerns beliefs (CB), and adherence were completed by 210 Korean patients with breast cancer. The rate of nonadherence was determined by calculating necessity-concern (N-C) differentials and attitudinal subgroup analysis. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine the independent impact of patient beliefs on nonadherence. Nonadherence (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale less then 8) was reported in 74.3% (n = 156) of patients and predicted by a negative balance regarding AET [odds ratio (OR) = 0.89; 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.83-0.96] and strong concerns about AET such as those in the Ambivalent (OR = 5.41; 95% CI 1.84-15.92) and Skeptical (OR = 3.48, 95% CI 1.14-10.65) subgroups. Patient beliefs are significantly associated with adherence to AET in Korean patients with breast cancer.
