The aim of this study was to evaluate the Prelacrimal recess (PLR) anatomy using Cone Beam Computed Tomography in patients with Maxillary Sinus Hypoplasia.

The paranasal Cone Beam Computed Tomography series of 84 adults were analyzed retrospectively. The antero-posterior and mesio-distal widths of the PLR and the antero-posterior width of the naso-lacrimal duct were measured. The patients were divided into three groups according to the antero-posterior width of PLR to evaluate the feasibility of prelacrimal recess approach as Type 1 (0-3 mm), Type 2 (>3-7 mm) and Type 3 (>7 mm).

The mean antero-posterior width of PLR was 3.11 ± 1.49mm in the patients and 4.77 ± 1.76 mm in the controls. The mean mesio-distal width of PLR was 7.64 ± 1.49 mm in the patients and 3.17 ± 2.05 mm in the controls. The mean antero-posterior width of naso-lacrimal duct was 9.58 ± 2.80 mm in the patients and 9.46 ± analyzed, and individual anatomical variations such as Maxillary Sinus Hypoplasia should not be ignored.Aims To explore new SNP sites of miRNAs associated with gastric cancer, thereby providing valuable biomarkers to diagnose and screen gastric cancer. Spontaneous rib fractures, especially in association with chest wall herniation, represent an uncommon pathology. As such, there are little data analyzing approaches to treatment or regarding the success of intervention. The goal of this study was to analyze our cumulative experience with this unusual condition.

A case series of 12 patients was gathered from a single institution based on outpatient visits between February 2015 and October 2018. Each chart was retrospectively reviewed with particular attention to age, gender, BMI, area of injury, and smoking history. Patients presented with complaints of dyspnea or pain related to rib fractures with or without intercostal neuralgia. Each of these patients was noted to have rib fractures with lung herniation either on imaging, outside hospital records, or physical exam. A thorough medical history was obtained with attempts to find common predisposing factors as well as data regarding any previous surgical intervention for their herniation.

Of 721 papers found, 18 articles were considered eligible and presented in total 21 cases (13 fungal and eight bacterial infections). The information was organized into a diagnostic and treatment algorithm which included data extracted both from the included cases and updated literature of treatment efficacy studies.
