This review focuses on recent findings on the effects of cytokines on myelin damage and remyelination as well as the progress of research on the role of cytokines in ischemic stroke prognosis to provide a new treatment approach for amelioration of white matter damage after stroke.Despite the great potential of Serratia marcescens in industrial applications, lack of powerful genetic modification tools limits understanding of the regulatory networks of the useful metabolites and therefore restricts their mass production. To meet the urgent demand, we established a genome-editing strategy for S. marcescens based on Red recombineering in this study. Without host modification in advance, nucA and pigA were substituted by PCR-amplified resistance genes. No long homologous arms were required at the two sides of resistance genes. Using this procedure, the fragment at the S. marcescens as large as 20 kb was easily deleted. Then we constructed a counter-selection gene kil constructed under the control of inducible PBAD operon, which demonstrates obvious lethality to S. marcescens. Subsequently, GmR-kil double selection cassette was inserted into the CDS of pigA gene. Using single-stranded DNA-mediated recombination, this insertion mutation was efficiently repaired through kil counter-selection. A powerful genetic modification platform based on Red recombineering system was successfully established for S. marcescens. Multiple types of modification and multiple recombination strategies can all be performed easily in this species. We hope this study will be useful for the theoretical research and the research of metabolic engineering in S. marcescens.Xylanase plays a vital role in the efficient utilization of xylan, which accounts for up to 30% of plant dry matter. However, the production cost of xylanase remains high, and the enzymatic characteristics of xylanases of most microorganisms are not suitable for industrial production. Therefore, it is of great significance to discover and develop new and efficient xylanases. In this study, the xylanase gene TAX1 (672 bp cDNA) was cloned from Trichoderma atroviride 3.3013 and expressed in Pichia pastoris. The TAX1 gene encoded a 223-amino acid protein (TAX1) with a molecular weight of 24.2 kDa which showed high similarity to glycoside hydrolase family 11. Enzyme activity assay verified that the recombinant xylanase TAX1 had optimal activity (215.3 IU/mL) at 50°C and pH 6.0. Stable working conditions were measured as pH 4.0-7.0 and 40-60°C. YAP-TEAD Inhibitor 1 cell line By adding Zn2+, the relative enzymatic activity of recombinant TAX1 was enhanced by 26%. The recombinant xylanase showed high activity toward birchwood xylan and corn stover. The Km and Kcat for xylan and corn stover were 0.36 mg/mL and 0.204 S-1 and 0.48 mg/mL and 0.149 S-1, respectively. The enzymatic activity of the TAX1 produced by P. pastoris was about 2.4-4 times higher that directly isolated from T. atroviride, so engineered P. pastoris for xylanase production could be an ideal candidate for industrial enzyme production.Industrial restructuring is a significant measure for low-carbon transition. In principle, carbon emissions can be effectively reduced by limiting the output of high-emission sectors; however, the socio-economic effects of the sectors should also be considered. Moreover, owing to the limitations of the method or data, the interactions between households and production sectors have been neglected in the study of industrial restructuring, resulting in an incomplete and potentially biased understanding of the role of households. To fill this gap, we applied a semi-closed input-output model to identify key sectors by economic and emission linkages and measure the employment impacts (direct, indirect, and induced) of reduced carbon emissions. The empirical results for China in 2010-2018 showed that relatively small changes in key emission sectors would significantly affect the economic growth, and reduced carbon emissions reduction would generally lead to high job losses. Promoting labor-intensive sectors, particularly the service sector, is conducive to achieving a "multi-win" situation for economic development, carbon emission reductions, and stable employment. Furthermore, our results highlight the significance of households expanding consumption and increasing household income can bring multiple benefits, such as economic growth, job creation, and low carbon emissions. These findings can provide useful information for identifying the optimized path of restructuring and helping achieve the sustainable development of the environment, economy, and society.Extensive use of surfactants in numerous fields resulted in their discharge into various environmental compartments including soil, sediment, and water. Alcohol ethoxysulfates (AES) together with alcohol ethoxylates (AE), alkyl sulfates (AS), and linear alkyl benzene sulfonates (LAS) find wide variety of applications in consumer products including both domestic and industrial applications. Consequently, all these surfactants pose several concerns to both aquatic and human health. In the context of environmental impacts, AES has almost equal importance as that of LAS though the literature on this topic is only emerging. This review provides a detailed overview on the various aspects of the anionic surfactant, AES, such as toxicity of AES, its fate in the ecosystem, technical advancements in the area of identification and quantification, its occurrence and distribution in different environmental compartments spanning across the world, and finally a remark of its potential removal strategy from the environment. The organophosphate (OP) pesticides are neurotoxic compounds widely used around the world. Evaluation of OP exposure in human studies is important for enabling adequate data analyses and drawing accurate conclusions. The aim of this study was to analyze OP exposure biomarkers and their relationships in a Mexican population with different exposure levels. Dialkylphosphates (DAP) were determined through gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MSD); acetylcholinesterase (AChE), butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE), arylesterase (AREase), basal paraoxonase 1 (PONase), and β-glucuronidase activities were detected using spectrophotometric methods. The albumin content was determined in a certified clinical laboratory. The DMTP metabolite was found in the highest concentration, and a negative and significant correlation between DAP and cholinesterase activity was observed. Our results suggested that BuChE is a considerably more sensitive biomarker than AChE. In addition, β-glucuronidase was positively correlated with albumin, BuChE, and PONase.
