Contemporary Wood Burners
Wood stoves might appear similar from the outside but closer inspection will reveal significant improvements to increase efficiency and clean air emissions. This is good news for homeowners.
Traditional open fires release carcinogenic particulate matter into the air. Upgrade to an Ecodesign or Defra exempted wood stove so that you will be able to avoid harmful particles.
Futura
The Stovax Futura 5 multifuel and wood burning stove is DEFRA exempted for Smoke Control Areas, Eco-design Plus ready. It features a large expansive view window and elegant stainless steel air controls. This contemporary design is perfect for traditional and modern homes of all kinds. It also features a state-of-the-art convector heating system that incorporates heat shields that maximize the amount of heat directed back into the room and a short distance to combustibles for optimum efficiency.
The name "Futura" refers to its geometric sans-serif designs and low-contrast, even width strokes. The font was designed by Paul Renner and released commercially in 1927. It was a huge success immediately, and soon it was incorporated into magazines, newspapers, books, posters, and even onto the logos of a number of major corporations.
Like all fonts, Futura has evolved over the years as typographic styles have changed. The spacing and letter shapes have changed over time, however its overall design hasn't. The font was also modified to accommodate different languages. The addition of the Latin alphabet made it more versatile. Since then, many type foundries have redrawn and improved the design.
Futura is a font that was inspired by the Art Deco style. Its simple lines and clean edges make it easy to read and easy to see. its retro-futuristic look is evident in the use of it in 2001: A Space Odyssey as well as for the plaque left by the Apollo 11 astronauts on the moon.
Its simplicity and readability makes it perfect for advertising and editorial design. Its use in these two fields has contributed to its popularity. In the century since its release it has become one of the most popular fonts ever designed. Its popularity inspired other designers to create similar fonts and it's still one of the most popular fonts around the globe to this day.
The font's geometric forms and clean lines influenced many artists. Shepard Fairey and Jenny Holzer, both feminist artists, have employed it in their work. In the 1960s and 1970s it was the medium of choice for political protest art because it was thought as a symbol of modernism and progress.
In the 1980s, typographers began to utilize Futura to do digital typesetting and phototypesetting. Because of this, the letters of Futura were distorted and disjointed in some instances. It was also common for typesetting to alter the shape of a letter, or alter its size. This resulted in a variety of errors and distortions, which were sometimes difficult or impossible to correct. This was especially the case when incorporating ligatures, which required very precise adjustments to the heights of specific characters.
