The virus' superantigen could overstimulate anti-virus immune responses, and thereby induce negative feedback loops, that paradoxically allow the virus to persist. The superantigen would induce strong immune response to any residual infection. This hypothesis suggests that clearing the virus infection completely would be an appropriate intervention against long COVID.
Cardiac troponins (cTn), either conventional or high-sensitive (hscTn) assays, are often performed during acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD).

We retrospectively studied data from AECOPD patients with conventional or hscTn performed at presentation. Binary logistic regression was used to identify predictors for abnormal conventional cTn (>0.5ug/L) and hscTn (>40ng/L).

In Covid-19 pneumonia, high mortality rates reported in intubated patients have raised non-invasive methods of respiratory support.
We aimed to evaluate the impact of HFNC application on intubation requirement, intensive care length of stay, and short-term mortality in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia.
Patients receiving oxygen by reservoir mask or HFNC therapy in our intensive care units due to COVID-19 pneumonia were included in the study. Group H consisted of patients who received HFNC, and Group K consisted of patients who received conventional oxygen therapy (COT). find more The number of patients intubated, duration of intensive care stay and short-term mortality were recorded.

Antigen avoidance (AA) is essential for people with hypersensitivity pneumonitis (HP). An intervention programme to promote continuous AA in people with HP will be the focus of future research.
We systematically analysed the AA behaviour of people with HP, interventions of health-care providers to promote AA behaviour, clinical outcomes after AA, and evaluation methods after AA.
We conducted a scoping review using six online databases and manual searches. Papers written in English or Japanese that reported cases on AA were selected. The extracted data were classified qualitatively.
In total 205 cases included in 109 eligible papers were examined.
This review clarified the fundamental evidence of AA in people with HP. These people required the continuous support of health-care providers to continue appropriate AA. This review highlighted four aspects that require further research to design interventions for promoting effective and continuous AA in people with HP.

Biomedical engineers are developing new mechanical circulatory support pumps. Clinicians are generating and analysing new evidence for their prescription and management. Industrial designers are generating usable solutions for wearable components and controllers. However, psychosocial considerations may be falling between the cracks of the three disciplines because of their multi-faceted nature.
This article seeks to identify psychosocial needs raised in previous work, re-frame them as needs for future products and services, and discuss routes to solutions.
SLR extracted 225 statements on psychosocial considerations from 42 included articles. 23 codes were inductively generated and applied to relevant datapoints. Codes were consolidated under 4 main themes and re-framed as solvable problems.
Identified themes expanded remote care, improved multidisciplinary management tools, creating easier interactions; and extending patient engagement.
Design-driven methods have been used to solve analogous problems in other contexts and can address the identified psychosocial problems if implemented fully.
