In analyses including all participants who took part in the treatment (immediate or delayed), we observed moderate-to-large treatment gains, which were maintained as of the 3-month follow-up assessment. This work supports the usefulness of an intervention for addressing emotion-related impulsivity and aggression.A series of novel oxo-hydrazone and spirocondensed-thiazolidine derivatives of imidazo[2,1-b]thiazole were synthesized and evaluated for their antioxidant activity. The antioxidant activity of 18 newly synthesized compounds and 12 previously reported compounds bearing similar scaffold, were evaluated by three different methods inhibition of FeCl3/ascorbate system-induced lipid peroxidation of lecithin liposome (anti-LPO), scavenging activity against ABTS radical and Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) activity. 4h, 5h, and 6h displayed the highest anti-LPO and ABTS radical removal activity. Also, in FRAP analysis, 4i and 4a displayed the best activity. In addition to the in vitro analysis, docking studies targeting the active site of Human peroxiredoxin 5 (PDB ID 1HD2) were employed to explore the possible interactions of these compounds with the receptor. Structure-activity relationships, as well as virtual ADME studies, were carried out and a relationship between biological, electronic, and physicochemical qualifications of the target compounds was determined.A novel set of 2-cyanoacrylamides linked to ethyl 1,3-diphenylpyrazole-4-carboxylates moiety were synthesized and elucidated by different spectroscopic tools. In vitro cytotoxic assay was carried out against different cell lines (Hct116, A549, MDA-MB231, and HFB4). Ethyl 5-(2-cyano-3-(furan-2-yl)acrylamido)-1,3-diphenylpyrazole-4-carboxylate 5 achieved the potent cytotoxic effect toward all tested cancer cell lines especially colon cancer (HCT116) with IC50 value (30.6 µg/ml) relative to the lead compound 3 and the standard positive control 5-FU. Additionally, it exhibited less toxic effect toward the normal human melanocytes (HFB4) cell line. Compound 5 was theoretically investigated and compared for its binding affinity to a model of protein markers relative to the lead compound 3 using two different molecular docking programs. More investigations were performed in an attempt to find out the molecular mechanism of this novel compound inside colon cancer cells, as real time PCR analysis, Elisa assay, flow cynning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM).Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are considerable microplastics (MPs) contributors to environmental waters. Knowledge about the MPs degradation process under ultraviolet irradiation was crucial to understanding the fate of MPs during and after water disinfection. In this study, surface alternations of polystyrene (PS), polyethylene (PE), polyvinylchloride (PVC) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) under 254 nm (UV-C) and 185/254 nm (vacuum ultraviolet, VUV) irradiation were estimated. One-way treatment of MPs by UV or VUV with the recommended dose for WWTPs (USEPA, ~180 mJ cm-2) had little effect. In contrast, excessive exposure under twenty-times doses irradiation (3600 mJ cm-2) resulted in significant alternations on surface morphology, chemical feature and hydrophobicity. Noticeably morphology alterations, including cracks, wrinkles and protuberances, were observed for PS, PVC and PET, while PE was relatively resistant. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that UV irradiation induced cleavage of chemical bonds. Besides, simultaneous radical oxidation was predominant during VUV treatment, which contributed to the increasing generation of oxygen bonds, such as CO and CO, on all MPs surfaces. PT100 Drastic decreases of contact angle (> 20°) were observed for PS, PVC and PET even after 180 mJ cm-2 UV irradiation, indicating the UV disinfection in WWTPs can easily change their surface hydrophobicity. All these alternations weakened the adsorption capacity of non-polar benzene and polar ciprofloxacin on MPs. Generally, regular dose UV and VUV irradiation in water treatment disinfection can only induce slight effects on MPs surface characteristics and adsorption performance, while extreme dose irradiation can induce a potential reducing risk of organic contaminants migration along with MPs.Soil surface with crop residue is effective in reducing soil erosion and carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and phosphorus (P) losses from sloping fields. However, there is a high possibility that surface cover increases export of dissolved organic C (DOC) though relevant field studies under natural rainfall are lacking. In this study, the effects of surface cover with rice (Oryza sativa L.) straw on soil and CNP losses in both dissolved and sediment-bound forms from maize (Zea mays L.) fields were investigated under two fertilization levels (standard and double) × two types of runoff experiments (natural rainfall and artificial irrigation). Changes in soil properties including moisture, temperature, nutrients, and C concentration as well as maize yield were also examined. Surface cover decreased soil and total CNP losses by up to 82% across the experimental plots with some exceptions. However, surface cover increased DOC export in both natural (by 68-82% in total across all events) and artificial (by 3-4 fold) runoff, suggesting that crop residue cover may act as a DOC pollution source of water bodies. The contribution of rice straw to DOC, which was calculated using the δ13C of DOC from covered plots (-24.1 to -28.0‰) and control plots (-19.6 to -25.1‰), was 52.5-95.8%. The concentrations of K2SO4-extractable and microbial biomass C of the soils did not differ between covered and control plots, suggesting that DOC produced from rice straw was not incorporated into the soils, but rather, was washed out with surface runoff in this study. Surface cover increased maize growth and yield, particularly in double fertilization plots, through improved soil moisture, temperature, and nutrient conditions. To take full advantage of surface cover with crop residue, a further study on reducing DOC loss from crop residue needs to be conducted.
