All rights reserved.BACKGROUND APPRECIATE is a multinational, observational, retrospective, cross-sectional study of patients treated for psoriasis with apremilast, an oral phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor. OBJECTIVES To describe the characteristics of patients with psoriasis treated with apremilast in the clinical setting, to evaluate real-world outcomes of psoriasis treatment with apremilast, and to better understand the perspectives of patients and physicians on treatment outcomes. METHODS In six European countries, patients with chronic plaque psoriasis treated in clinical practice who could be contacted 6 (±1) months after apremilast initiation were enrolled. Patient characteristics, Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) and Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI) were obtained from medical records when available. Outcomes were evaluated using patient/physician questionnaires. RESULTS In 480 patients at treatment initiation, mean (median; 95% confidence interval [CI]) PASI and DLQI scores were 12.5 (10.7; 11.6-13.4) and 13.4 ality of life 6 (±1) months after apremilast initiation. All rights reserved.AIM AND OBJECTIVE This paper reports on the proceedings of the second Australasian International Learning Collaborative conference and summit. BACKGROUND In December 2019, over a hundred people attended the second Australasian International Learning Collaborative Conference and Summit. This was the first to be held in Aotearoa New Zealand, the land where cultural safety was developed, its origins being in nursing education. Perhaps not surprisingly, culture, cultural safety and the context of care featured highly in the presentations and workshops. DESIGN AND METHODS Discussion paper. RESULTS A key outcome of the conference proceedings and workshops was the call for nurses and the International Learning Collaborative to work in partnership with indigenous groups to iterate the importance of the Fundamentals of Care framework and evaluate the impact of that on health equity. Other essential messages were to value establishing relationships, to continue to talk about the fundamentals of care, to research and to own them. Nurses were reminded to use their humanity to create a climate and culture in which patients and staff feel valued, safe and trusted. CONCLUSIONS Future iterations of the Fundamentals of Care framework must incorporate indigenous worldviews, which emphasise the importance of relationships, family and spirituality on wellbeing. Such additions will provide an opportunity for the International Learning Collaborative to optimally respond and direct nursing practice. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE International Learning Collaborative members and conference attendees learned, listened and worked on meeting the challenges of consistently implementing and applying the fundamentals of care in practice and its importance to education, research and policy. The implementation of training measures may be related to the quality of QI practice. AIMS The aim of this review was to assess the quality of available QI intervention designs and present effective nurse training measures that contribute to a high-quality QI intervention. All rights reserved.This study evaluated the association between plasma anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) concentration and fertility in Nelore (Bos indicus) heifers submitted to timed artificial insemination (TAI). At the onset of the synchronization protocol, heifers (n = 289) received a subcutaneous P4 ear implant (3 mg) and 2 mg of estradiol benzoate. Eight days later, the P4 implant was removed and 0.5 mg of estradiol cypionate, prostaglandin (0.265 mg, i.m.) and equine chorionic gonadotropin (300 UI, i.m.) were administered, and TAI was performed 48h after ear implant removal. Ovarian ultrasound evaluations were performed to measure number of ovarian follicles, dominant follicle size, and ovulation response. Pregnancy diagnosis was performed by ultrasound 30 days after AI. Heifers with greater circulating AMH had more antral follicles, a smaller dominant follicle near timed ovulation, and lower ovulation response to the timed AI protocol compared to heifers with lower circulating AMH. Although AMH and pregnancy outcome had a quadratic-shaped pattern, AMH was not significantly associated to fertility. In conclusion, heifers with lower AMH had larger follicles towards the end of the synchronization protocol and greater ovulation responses, whereas, greater circulating AMH was unrelated to conception success. All rights reserved.OBJECTIVES The objective of the study was to evaluate and compare the effect of different drugs such as simvastatin, alendronate, and tibolone for titanium implant osseointegration enhancement. MATERIALS AND METHODS Eighty female albino Wistar rats were equally divided into five groups Group I (ovariectomy), Group II (sham ovariectomy), Group III (alendronate + ovariectomy), Group IV (simvastatin + ovariectomy), and Group V (tibolone + ovariectomy). Three months after ovariectomy, we performed bilateral titanium intramedullary nailing in all groups, followed by oral administration of alendronate, simvastatin, or tibolone for 12 weeks. Examinations included micro-CT, mechanical pull-out test, histology, and bone serum markers. RESULTS Peri-implant micro-CT analysis showed a significantly higher overall bone tissue in tibolone compared to the ovariectomy group, while no significant difference was found between the treatment groups. Sham ovariectomy, alendronate, and tibolone groups had a higher body mass density compared to ovariectomy and simvastatin groups.
