Adult ICU survivors that experience delirium are at high risk for developing new functional disabilities and mental health disorders. We sought to determine if individual motoric subtypes of delirium are associated with worse disability, depression, and/or post-traumatic stress disorder in ICU survivors.
Secondary analysis of a prospective multicenter cohort study.

We assessed delirium and level of consciousness using the Confusion Assessment Method-ICU and Richmond Agitation and Sedation Scale daily during hospitalization. We classified delirium as hypoactive (Richmond Agitation and Sedation Scale ≤ 0) or hyperactive (Richmond Agitation and Sedation Scale > 0). At 3- and 12-month postdischarge, we assessed for dependence in activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living, symptoms of depression, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Adjusting for baseline minimal increase in early instrumental activities of daily living dependence scores in adult survivors of critical illness. Motoric delirium subtype was neither associated with early or late activities of daily living functional dependence or mental health outcomes, nor late instrumental activities of daily living functional dependence.
Longer duration of hypoactive delirium, but not hyperactive, was associated with a minimal increase in early instrumental activities of daily living dependence scores in adult survivors of critical illness. Alofanib Motoric delirium subtype was neither associated with early or late activities of daily living functional dependence or mental health outcomes, nor late instrumental activities of daily living functional dependence.Trans Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) is an emerging technique that provides several benefits over existing treatment regimens for head and neck cancer, including smaller incisions, less bleeding, shorter term inpatient hospitalization, and reduced intensive care unit (ICU) length of stay. TORS allows a high resolution, magnified, three-dimensional wide view of the surgical field through an endoscope, avoiding large external cervical incisions and split-lip mandibulotomy, usually required in cancer surgeries of the oropharynx. The anatomy of the Oropharynx viewed from the perspective of the robotic surgeon is different from the anatomy taught in medical schools and residence/fellowship programs, which is more directly related to emergency procedures, open field surgery, and imaging exams. Developing an understanding of the anatomic relationships and landmarks from the "inside out" perspective is critical for any surgeon willing to perform surgical procedures through a transoral robotic approach. Here we address the major anatomic landmarks and structures in head and neck robotic surgeries and advantages and disadvantages of this approach. We emphasize the importance of imaging for successful outcomes, pointing out important anatomic landmarks considered as blind spots for surgeons in clinical and endoscopic evaluations. We also describe the Brazilian current scenario and future perspectives of Robotic Surgery in terms of training and access to this technique, including institutions that currently offer this service in the different regions of Brazil.In hybrid bioprinting of cartilage tissue constructs, spheroids are used as cellular building blocks and combined with biomaterials for dispensing. However, biomaterial intrinsic cues can deeply affect cell fate and to date, the influence of hydrogel encapsulation on spheroid viability and phenotype has received limited attention. This study assesses this need and unravels 1) how the phenotype of spheroid-laden constructs can be tuned through adjusting the hydrogel physico-chemical properties and 2) if the spheroid maturation stage prior to encapsulation is a determining factor for the construct phenotype. Articular chondrocyte spheroids with a cartilage specific extracellular matrix (ECM) are generated and different maturation stages, early-, mid-, and late-stage (3, 7, and 14 days, respectively), are harvested and encapsulated in 10, 15, or 20 w/v% methacrylamide-modified gelatin (gelMA) for 14 days. The encapsulation of immature spheroids do not lead to a cartilage-like ECM production but when more mature mid- or late-stage spheroids are combined with a certain concentration of gelMA, a fibrocartilage-like as well as a hyaline cartilage-like phenotype can be induced. As a proof of concept, late-stage spheroids are bioprinted using a 10 w/v% gelMA-Irgacure 2959 solution with the aim to test the processing potential of the spheroid-laden bioink.Virus-like particles (VLPs) play a prominent role in vaccination as safe and highly versatile alternatives to attenuated or inactivated viruses or subunit vaccines. We present here two innovations, VLP-factory™ and ADDomer© , for creating VLPs displaying entire proteins or peptide epitopes as antigens, respectively, to enable efficient vaccination. For producing these VLPs, we use MultiBac, a baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) that we developed for producing complex protein biologics in insect cells transfected with an engineered baculovirus. VLPs are protein assemblies that share features with viruses but are devoid of genetic material, and thus considered safe. VLP-factory™ represents a customized MultiBac baculovirus tailored to produce enveloped VLPs based on the M1 capsid protein of influenza virus. We apply VLP-factory™ to create an array of influenza-derived VLPs presenting functional mutant influenza hemagglutinin (HA) glycoprotein variants. Moreover, we describe MultiBac-based production of ADDomer© , a synthetic self-assembling adenovirus-derived protein-based VLP platform designed to display multiple copies of pathogenic epitopes at the same time on one particle for highly efficient vaccination. © 2021 The Authors.
