To examine the incidence and type of chromosomal abnormalities in fetuses with first trimester ultrasound anomalies and a low-risk cfDNA test for common trisomies.
In 486 singleton pregnancies undergoing invasive testing after combined screening, a detailed first trimester ultrasound assessment was carried out and a maternal blood sample was sent for cfDNA analysis. Ultrasound and cfDNA data were analyzed in relation to fetal karyotype.
Invasive testing demonstrated a chromosomal abnormality in 157 (32.3%) of 486 fetuses. In 348 cases with a low-risk cfDNA test for common trisomies, NT ≥ 3.5 mm and/or a major structural defect were observed in 92 (26.4%) fetuses. A chromosomal abnormality was found in 17 (18.5%; 95%CI 10.55-26.41) of these pregnancies, including 1 (1.1%) case of trisomy 21 and 16 (17.4%) fetuses with abnormalities different from common trisomies. The respective incidence in the 256 cases with a low-risk cfDNA test result and no ultrasound anomalies was 2.3% (95% CI 0.49-4.20; n = 6).

In an effort to cope, triage policies are frequently implemented in order to reduce the number of digital devices which are seized unnecessarily. Often first responders are tasked with performing triage at scene in order to decide whether any identified devices should be seized and submitted for forensic examination. In some cases, this is done with the assistance of software which allows device content to be "previewed"; however, in some cases, a first responder will triage devices using their judgment and experience alone, absent of knowledge of the devices content, referred to as "decision-based device triage" (DBDT). This work provides a discussion of the challenges first responders face when carrying out DBDT at scene. In response, the COLLECTORS ranking scale is proposed to help first responders carry out DBDT and to formalize this process in an effort to support quality control of this practice. The COLLECTORS ranking scale consists of 10 categories which first responders should rank a given device against. Each devices cumulative score should be queried against the defined "seizure thresholds" which offer support to first responders in assessing when to seize a device. To offer clarify, an example use-case involving the COLLECTORS ranking scale is included, highlighting its application when faced with multiple digital devices at scene.
The effects of surgical site infections (SSI) after glioblastoma surgery on patient outcomes are understudied. The aim of this retrospective multicenter study was to evaluate the impact of SSI on the survival of glioblastoma patients.
Data from SSI cases after glioblastoma surgeries between 2009 and 2016 were collected from 14 French neurosurgical centers. Collected data included patient demographics, previous medical history, risk factors, details of the surgical procedure, radiotherapy/chemotherapy, infection characteristics, and infection management. Similar data were collected from gender- and age-paired control individuals.
We used the medical records of 77 SSI patients and 58 control individuals. 13 were excluded. Our analyses included data from 64 SSI cases and 58 non-infected glioblastoma patients. Infections occurred after surgery for primary tumors in 38 cases (group I) and after surgery for a recurrent tumor in 26 cases (group II). Median survival was 381, 633, and 547days in patients of group I, group II, and the control group, respectively. Patients in group I had significantly shorter survival compared to the other two groups (p < 0.05). The one-year survival rate of patients who developed infections after surgery for primary tumors was 50%. Additionally, we found that SSIs led to postoperative treatment discontinuation in 30% of the patients.
Our findings highlighted the severity of SSIs after glioblastoma surgery, as they significantly affect patient survival. The establishment of preventive measures, as well as guidelines for the management of SSIs, is of high clinical importance.

To investigate incidence of new neurologic deficit (NND) and the long-term recovery patterns following complex pediatric spine deformity surgery. The SRS M&M reports identify pediatric patients as having higher rate of new neurologic deficit compared with adults, while congenital and neuromuscular deformities are associated with higher new neurologic risks. Very few studies have had the large numbers of pediatric patients with curves exceeding 100deg to ascertain the new neurologic deficit (NND) rates and recovery patterns as it relates to curve laterality and diagnosis.
The FOX pediatric database from 17 international sites was queried for New Neurologic Deficit (NND) as characterized by change in American Spinal Injury Association (ASIA) Lower or Upper Extremity Motor Score. Recovery rates at specific intervals were recorded and related to the curve type and etiology.
