LncRNA MAFG-AS1 plays critical roles in several types of cancer, while its role in glioblastoma (GBM) is unknown. By analyzing the TCGA dataset, we observed the upregulation of MAFG-AS1 in GBM. This study aimed to investigate the involvement of MAFG-AS1 in GBM cancer.
The expression levels of MAFG-AS1, mature miR-34a, and miR-34a precursor in GBM and paired non-tumor tissues of 56 GBM patients were determined by RT-qPCR. Correlations are analyzed using linear regression. Overexpression of MAFG-AS1 was achieved in GBM cells, followed by measurement of the expression levels of mature miR-34a, miR-34a precursor, DICER and Drosha by RT-qPCR. The roles of MAFG-AS1 and miR-34a in regulating GBM cell proliferation were evaluated by CCK-8 assay. Flow cytometry was performed to explore the role of MAFG-AS1 and miR-34a in regulating the apoptosis and cell cycle of GBM cells. Cell scratch experiment was performed to determine the role of MAFG-AS1 and miR-34a in regulating the migration of GBM cells. Subcutaneous tumFG-AS1 may suppress the maturation of miR-34a to promote GBM cell proliferation.
To compare perioperative outcomes between robotic single-site surgical technique and conventional laparoendoscopic single-site surgical technique.
This was a retrospective cohort study involving 67 patients who received robotic single-site surgery or laparoendoscopic single-site surgery for the treatment of stage IB1 cervical squamous carcinoma. The robotic single-site radical hysterectomy technique combined with pelvic lymph node dissections were performed in 32 patients while the laparoendoscopic single-site radical hysterectomy technique combined with pelvic lymph node dissections were performed in 35 patients.
The enrolled patients had been diagnosed with stage IB1 cervical squamous carcinoma. The perioperative outcomes were mean age (51.63±8.32 years in the lymph node dissection (RSS group) and 53.14±8.14 years in the lymph node dissection (LESS group), p=0.453); BMIs (23.76±2.72 in the RSS group and 23.46±2.28 in the LESS group, p=0.629); shorter operative times (223.56±15.43 min in the RSS group and 248.61±20.89 min in the LESS group, p<0.01) and less estimated blood loss (217.25±16.77 mL in the RSS group and 294.74±24.00 mL in the LESS group, p<0.01). None of the study participants exhibited postoperative pain. There were no statistically significant differences in the length of hospital stay (p=0.865), perioperative complications (p=0.602), duration of closure and removal of catheter (p=0.518) as well as in pathological diagnoses between the two groups.

Pain and joint deformity are the most common symptoms of hip osteoarthritis (OA). However, no significant association between pain and severity of radiographic lesions has been reported. Recently, central sensitization has been suggested as an underlying mechanism of pain in OA. We investigated the involvement of radiologic severity or central sensitization in the clinical manifestation of hip OA with various degrees of joint deformity.
We included 39 patients with hip OA and divided them into two groups according to the severity of the hip pain strong/severe (numerical rating scale, NRS≥6) and mild/moderate (NRS<6). We assessed the radiologic severity of OA using the Kellgren-Lawrence (K-L) scale and minimum joint space width (mJSW). We conducted quantitative sensory testing (QST) that included pressure pain threshold (PPT) and temporal summation of pain (TSP) at hip, tibialis anterior (leg), and extensor carpi radialis longus (arm) on the affected side. We examined the difference of radiologic assessd no significant difference in radiologic severity between patients with strong/severe and mild/moderate joint pain. By contrast, we found a significant difference in central sensitization represented by QST between strong/severe and mild/moderate joint pain groups. These results suggest that central sensitization may be involved in the joint pain of patients with hip OA who complain of severe pain despite less severe joint deformity.
This study aims to improve the reporting quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) by evaluating RCTs of acupuncture for low back pain (LBP) based on the CONSORT and STRICTA statements.
Literature from the Cochrane Library, Medline, Embase, Ovid, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang database, and Chongqing Weipu (VIP) was systematically searched from 2010 to 2020. The general characteristics and the overall quality score (OQS) of the literature were evaluated by two investigators. The agreement between investigators was calculated using Cohen's kappa statistics.
A total of 31 RCTs were extracted in the final analysis. Based on the CONSORT statement, the items "title and abstract", "background and objectives", "intervention", "outcomes", "statistical methods", "baseline data", "outcomes and estimation" and "interpretation" have a positive rate of greater than 80%. The items "implementation", "generalizability" and "protocol" have a positive rate of less than 30%. Based on the STRICTA statement, the items "style of acupuncture", "needle retention time", "number of treatment sessions", "frequency and duration of treatment" and "precise description of the control or comparator" have a positive rate of greater than 80%.
