The following points will all be corresponding to the handout given to you (UNIT:Mechanisms of Change) {Copy paste in to word if you want to make own copy of this}
1) The process by which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth. (Change over time of species/organisms)
2) Church ideas you know.-Everything has always been the way it is now, since the time when god placed it there, completely unchanged.
3) Key points, Finch(you know what that means), and turtles. Both correspond to the islands different environments.
4)Fossils, of sloths (big) to how small they are now
-Comparative anatomy is the study of similarities and differences in the anatomy of different species. (femur example)
-Embryology is the study of embryos (teeth in chickens to no teeth when born)
-Homologous structures (a structure in many animals that looks the same (femur))
-(teeth to not teeth) is an example of a vestigial structure
-DNA VARIATION-OBVIOUS
-protein differences in organisms. Same function but are made up completely differently
5) only 2-3 points needed, this one is easy Finches and antibiotic resistance over time are best choices in my opinion, or pesticide resistance in insects for fun
6)The process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring
7)"fittest"=#babies
8)His super cool theories
-More individuals are produced each generation that can survive.
-Phenotypic variation exists among individuals and the variation is heritable.
-Those individuals with heritable traits better suited to the environment will survive.
-When reproductive isolation occurs new species will form.
9)Adaptation-A change or the process of change by which an organism or species becomes better suited to its environment.
-The three basic types of adaptations, based on how the genetic changes are expressed, are structural, physiological and behavioral adaptations.
10)Gene pool-The stock of different genes in an interbreeding population.
Population-all the inhabitants of a particular town, area, or country.
11)OH YOU'RE FINE P+q=1 & P^2+2Pq+q^2=1
12)A. Large population. The population must be large to minimize random sampling errors.
B. Random mating. There is no mating preference. For example an AA male does not prefer an aa female.
C. No mutation. The alleles must not change.
D. No migration. Exchange of genes between the population and another population must not occur.
E. No natural selection. Natural selection must not favor any particular individual.
13)Unchanged. Stay the same foreva
14)Bottle Neck-Drastic change to population
Founder-Mediocre change
Non-random mating-tiny change
15)Your notes are good enough the page with 3 graphs you know, or just use internet
16)Gradualism-The belief that changes in the Earth, such as the development of species, have taken place slowly, WITHOUT SUDDEN and VIOLENT transitions (slow changes)
Punctuated-Drastick changes
17)A group of living organisms consisting of similar individuals CAPABLE of exchanging genes or interbreeding.
18)prezygotic barrier prevent mating or fertilization between different species

postzygotic barrier reproductive barrier that operates should interspecies mating occur and form hybrid zygotes

temporal isolation prezygotic barrier; when different species reproduce at different times

habitat isolation prezygotic barrier; the species remain isolated because they breed in different habitats.

behavioral isolation prezygotic barrier; the species have differences in mating rituals

mechanic isolation prezygotic barrier; the species are physically unable to reproduce

hybrid inviability postzygotic barrier; the offspring (called a hybrid) does not survive

hybrid sterility postzygotic barrier; the hybrid is infertile

hybrid breakdown postzygotic barrier; the first-generation hybrids are viable and fertile, but when they mate the offspring are feeble and sterile
19)Google the 8
20)internet has answers
21)-^
22)-^
23)-^
24)Because it is recessive, individuals can be carriers of the allele without actually showing the symptoms. So it can be non-lethal to carriers (in fact, they may show no effects at all).
