This study aimed to compare the efficacy of fluorescein angiography (FA)-guided and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA)-guided half-time photodynamic therapy (PDT) for central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC).

Medical records of 61 eyes of 61 CSC patients who underwent half-time PDT were retrospectively reviewed. The irradiation area was determined using information from FA or ICGA with physicians' discretion. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), central retinal thickness (CRT), subfoveal choroidal thickness (SCT), and resolution of subretinal fluid (SRF) were evaluated at baseline and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after PDT.

A total of 29 and 32 eyes received FA-guided PDT (irradiation area, 2898.3 ± 705.7 μm) and ICGA-guided PDT (irradiation area, 4993.8 ± 333.1 μm), respectively. A significant improvement in the mean BCVA was found at 1 month in the FA-guided group (P = 0.02), but not in the ICGA-guided group (P = 0.88). BCVA was significantly improved in both groups at 3, 6, and 12 months with no significant intergroup difference at any time points. CRT and SCT were significantly reduced in both groups at all time points with no significant intergroup differences. No significant intergroup differences were observed in the rate of recurrence and persistent SRF. However, there was a significant difference between groups in the rate of recurrence and/or persistent SRF (P = 0.04). Multivariate analysis revealed that choice of FA-guided was significantly associated with recurrence and/or persistent SRF (P = 0.04).

Half-time PDT with ICGA-guided irradiation spot might be more effective than that with FA-guided in treating CSC patients in complete resolution of SRF.
Half-time PDT with ICGA-guided irradiation spot might be more effective than that with FA-guided in treating CSC patients in complete resolution of SRF.
Photodynamic therapy has revolutionised the treatment of circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas. The aim of this report is to report the long-term follow-up of patients affected by circumscribed choroidal hemangioma treated using photodynamic therapy.

We retrospectively reviewed patients affected by circumscribed choroidal hemangioma examined at the Retinal Medical Department at the Eye Clinic in Florence. We studied circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas treated using photodynamic therapy with at least 1 follow-up examination. Verteporfin was administered intravenously for 10 min (6 mg/m2 body surface area). After infusion (5 min), a 689 nm laser was applied with a light dose of 50 J/cm2.

Ten eyes of 10 patients with circumscribed choroidal hemangioma who underwent Photodynamic therapy were included in our series (2 females and 8 males; average age at diagnosis 47.8 ± 9.3 yrs.; age range 27-56 years). Five patients (5/10; 50 %) received only the photodynamic treatment whereas 5 patients (5/10; 50 %) also recisms for circumscribed choroidal hemangiomas and central serous chorioretinopathy/polypoidal choroidopathy spectrum disease.Natural antioxidant proteins are mainly found in plants and animals, which interact to eliminate excessive free radicals and protect cells and DNA from damage, prevent and treat some diseases. Therefore, accurate identification of antioxidant proteins is important for the development of new drugs and research of related diseases. This article proposes novel method based on the combination of random forest and hybrid features that can accurately predict antioxidant proteins. Four single feature extraction methods (188D, profile-based Auto-cross covariance (ACC-PSSM), N-gram, and g-gap) and hybrid feature representation methods were used to feature extraction. Three feature selection methods (MRMD, t-SNE, and the optimal feature set selection) were adopted to determine the optimal features. The new hybrid feature vectors derived by combining 188D with the other three features all have indicators ranging from 0.9550 to 0.9990. The novel method showed better performance compared with the other methods.Time-dependent darkening and discoloration of wheat product caused by high polyphenol oxidase enzymes (PPO) activity is the most undesirable character in wheat processing industry. We performed GWAS of PPO activity in wheat grains utilizing an association panel and identified 22 significant SNPs. The most significant GWAS peak on chromosome 2A was verified by QTL analysis of PPO activity. The candidate gene for this GWAS peak was identified as TaPPO2A-1, which was the highest expressed PPO gene in wheat grains. The expression level of TaPPO2A-1 was significantly correlated with PPO activity. The most significant association signal for GWAS of the expression values of TaPPO2A-1 pinpointed to the genomic region containing TaPPO2A-1. The results suggested that cis regulation of TaPPO2A-1 expression is the key factor in regulation of PPO activity in wheat grains. The conclusion was further enhanced by haplotype analysis of seven SNPs in the promoter of TaPPO2A-1.MYB proteins constitute one of the largest transcription factor families in plants, members of which are involved in various plant physiological and biochemical processes. read more Japanese plum (Prunus salicina) is one of the important stone fruit crops worldwide. To date, no comprehensive study of the MYB family in Japanese plum has been reported. In this study, we performed genome-wide analysis of MYB genes in Japanese plum including the phylogeny, gene structures, protein motifs, chromosomal locations, collinearity and expression patterns analysis. A total of 96 Japanese plum R2R3-MYB (PsMYB) genes were characterized and distributed on 8 chromosomes at various densities. Collinearity analysis indicated that the segmental duplication events played a crucial role in the expansion of PsMYB genes, and the interspecies synteny analysis revealed the orthologous gene pairs between Japanese plum and other four selected Rosaceae species. The 96 PsMYB genes could be classified into 27 subgroups based on phylogenetic topology, as supported by the conserved gene structures and motif compositions. Further comparative phylogenetic analysis revealed the functional divergence of MYB gene family during evolution, and three subgroups which included only Rasaceae MYB genes were identified. Expression analysis revealed the distinct expression profiles of the PsMYB genes, and further functional predictions found some of them might be associated with the plum fruit quality traits. Our researches provide a global insight into the organization, phylogeny, evolution and expression patterns of the PsMYB genes, and contribute to the greater understanding of their functional roles in Japanese plum.
