Dynamization, increasing the interfragmentary movement (IFM) by reducing the fixation stiffness from a rigid to a more flexible condition, is widely used clinically to promote fracture healing. However, it remains unknown how dynamization degree (relative change in fixation stiffness/IFM from a rigid to a flexible fixation) affects bone healing at various stages. To address this issue, we used a fuzzy logic-based mechano-regulated tissue differentiation algorithm on published experimental data from a sheep osteotomy healing model. We applied a varied degree of dynamization, from 0 (fully rigid fixation) to 0.9 (90% reduction in stiffness relative to the rigid fixation) after 1, 2, 3, and 4 weeks of osteotomy (R1wF, R2wF, R3wF, and R4wF) and computationally evaluated bone regeneration and biomechanical integrity over the healing process of 8 weeks. Compared with the constant rigid fixation, early dynamization (R1wF and R2wF) led to delays in bone bridging and biomechanical recovery of the osteotomized bone. However, the effect of early dynamization on healing was dependent of the degree of dynamization. Specifically, a higher dynamization degree (e.g., 0.9 for R1wF) led to a prolonged delay in bone bridging and largely unrecovered bending stiffness (48% relative to the intact bone), whereas a moderate degree of dynamization (e.g., 0.5 or 0.7) significantly enhanced bone formation and biomechanical properties of the osteotomized bone. These results suggest that dynamization degree and timing interactively affect the healing process. A combination of early dynamization with a moderate degree could enhance the ultimate biomechanical recovery of the fractured bone.
Amaranthus cruentus is a promising leafy vegetable with high nutritional value and is able to cope with salt stress but the impact of sodium chloride (NaCl) on its main properties have not been studied in detail. Plants from two contrasting cultivars (Rouge salt-tolerant and Locale salt-sensitive) were exposed to NaCl (0, 30, 60 and 90 mmol L
) in nutrient solution for 2 weeks. Plant growth, mineral content, oxidative status and antioxidant concentration, salicylic acid concentration, protein content and amino acid profile were analyzed in the harvested leaves.

Low dose (30 mmol L
NaCl) increased plant growth while Na
accumulated to higher extent in salt-sensitive Locale than in salt-tolerant Rouge. A total of 30 mmol L
NaCl increased magnesium (Mg), phosphorus (P) and iron (Fe) content, as well as total antioxidant activity, ascorbate, phenolics, α-tocopherol and carotenoids content to higher extent in cultivar (cv.) Rouge than in cv. Locale. Low (30 mmol L
) and moderate salinities (60 mmol L
) increased γ-tocopherol and total protein in cv. Locale. They also increased lysine, valine, methionine and proline concentration as well as chemical score of protein in this cultivar. The highest NaCl (90 mmol L
) dose had a detrimental impact on both cultivars.

HPV data were collected retrospectively from a cohort of 67 742 women who underwent routine cervical cancer screening from 2010 to 2019. Precancerous and cervical cancer cases (n = 980) were histologically diagnosed as a low-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (LSIL; n = 341) or a high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL; n = 499) and invasive cervical cancer (ICC) (n = 140) groups. Disordered logistic regression analysis was used to test the relationship between different degrees of cervical lesions, HPV16/18 infection status, positive rate of p16INK4a (p16), Ki-67 expression, and patient's age in SIL and ICC (270/980 cases) patients. HPV52 (4.7%) was the most prevalent HPV type, followed by HPV16 (3.3%) and HPV58 (2.6%). HPV16 was the most common HPV in SIL, peaking at the age of 30-39. Abexinostat The HPV16 infection rate was significantly higher in HSIL than in LSIL patients; moreover, HPV16, HPV18, and HPV51 infection rates were significantly higher in ICC patients than in HSIL (Bonferroni-adjusted p  less then  0.0167). The presence of HPV16/18 was also associated with a higher risk of developing HSIL from LSIL (odds ratio [OR] = 9.198, 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.76-127.49). The increased p16 expression and HPV16/18 were associated with the increased risk of cancer progression (OR = 1.092, 95% CI 1.03-1.36; OR = 1.495, 95% CI 1.23-2.19, respectively). The identified hrHPV genotypes in cervical lesions can serve as a baseline indicator for future vaccine assessment in Zhejiang, China.The present study was conducted from July 1, 2020 to September 25, 2020 in a dedicated coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) hospital in Delhi, India to provide evidence for the presence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus in atmospheric air and surfaces of the hospital wards. Swabs from hospital surfaces (patient's bed, ward floor, and nursing stations area) and suspended particulate matter in ambient air were collected by a portable air sampler from the medicine ward, intensive care unit, and emergency ward admitting COVID-19 patients. By performing reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) for E-gene and RdRp gene, SARS-CoV-2 virus was detected from hospital surfaces and particulate matters from the ambient air of various wards collected at 1 and 3-m distance from active COVID-19 patients. The presence of the virus in the air beyond a 1-m distance from the patients and surfaces of the hospital indicates that the SARS-CoV-2 virus has the potential to be transmitted by airborne and surface routes from COVID-19 patients to health-care workers working in COVID-19 dedicated hospital.
