This substrate appears to be a good candidate for in vivo metabolic investigations using PHIP hyperpolarized probes.Photorhabdus luminescens Tc toxins are large tripartite ABC-type toxin complexes, composed of TcA, TcB and TcC proteins. Tc toxins are widespread and have shown a tropism for a variety of targets including insect, mammalian and human cells. However, their receptors and the specific mechanisms of uptake into target cells remain unknown. Here, we show that the TcA protein TcdA1 interacts with N-glycans, particularly Lewis X/Y antigens. This is confirmed using N-acetylglucosamine transferase I (Mgat1 gene product)-deficient Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) Lec1 cells, which are highly resistant to intoxication by the Tc toxin complex most likely due to the absence of complex N-glycans. Restoring Mgat1 gene activity, and hence complex N-glycan biosynthesis, recapitulated the sensitivity of these cells to the toxin. Exogenous addition of Lewis X trisaccharide partially inhibits intoxication in wild-type cells. Additionally, sialic acid also largely reduced binding of the Tc toxin. Moreover, proteolytic activation of TcdA1 alters glycan-binding and uptake into target cells. The data suggest that TcdA1-binding is most likely multivalent, and carbohydrates probably work cooperatively to facilitate binding and intoxication. The aim of the study was to compare cyclic fatigue (CF) resistance of reciprocating and rotary glide path instruments in the presence of irrigation solutions at body temperature. CF resistance of 100 instruments (50 ProGlider and 50 WaveOne Gold Glider) was tested in sodium hypochlorite solutions alone (NaOCl) or in combination with etidronate (NaOCl/HEBP). The CF platform with a simulated canal (curvature = 60°/radius = 3 mm) was submerged in a temperature-controlled bath with the solutions kept at 37 ± 1°C controlled by a precision mercury glass thermometer. Instruments were actioned following manufacturer guidelines, and time to failure was recorded and compared among groups with Weibull analysis. Reciprocating glide path preparation instruments were more resistant to CF than rotary instruments in both irrigation solutions. The irrigation solution did not affect the mean life of ProGlider, but reciprocating instruments lasted significantly longer used in presence of NaOCl compared to NaOCl/HEBP.Embryos, juveniles, and even adults of many bird species lack pronounced external sexually dimorphic characteristics. Accurate identification of sex is crucial for research (e.g., developmental, population, and evolutionary studies), management of wildlife species, and captive breeding programmes for both conservation and poultry. An accurate molecular sexing method applicable across the entire bird radiation is theoretically possible thanks to the long-term stability of their ZZ/ZW sex chromosomes, but current methods are not applicable in a wide range of bird lineages. Here, we developed a novel molecular sexing method based on the comparison of gene copy number variation by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) in conserved Z-specific genes (CHRNA6, DDX4, LPAR1, TMEM161B, VPS13A), i.e. genes linked to Z but absent from W chromosomes. We tested the method across three paleognath and 70 neognath species covering the avian phylogeny. In addition, we designed primers for four Z-specific genes (DOCK8, FUT10, PIGG and PSD3) for qPCR-based molecular sexing in three paleognath species. We have demonstrated that the genes DOCK8, FUT10, PIGG and PSD3 can identify sex in paleognath birds and the genes CHRNA6, DDX4, TMEM161B, and VPS13A can reveal sex in neognath birds. The gene LPAR1 can be used to accurately identify sex in both paleognath and neognath species. Along with outlining a novel method of practical importance for molecular sexing in birds, our study also documents in detail the conservation of sex chromosomes across the avian phylogeny. The current observations focused on the ultrastructure comparison between the tongue of two reptile species endemic the Egyptian fauna; Bosc's fringe-toed lizard Acanthodactylus boskianus and Sinai fan-fingered gecko Ptyodactylus guttatus to exhibit the relationship between the lingual epithelium and its function according to their specific feeding strategy. A. boskianus possessed triangular elongated tongue with bifurcated tapering apex and wide base while; the P. guttatus had a triangular flattened tongue with conical shallow bifurcated apex and broad base. The ventral surface of the lingual apex of A. boskianus had transverse while in P. guttatus had two oval pads and median ventral groove. Both surfaces of the tongue of both examined species are covered by stratified squamous epithelium with great variability of degree of keratinization. The dorsal epithelium formed flattened and conical filiform papillae in A. boskianus, while in P. guttatus formed cylindrical papillae, conical, and tall filiform ones. Few taste buds are observed on the fore-tongue but increase on the mid-tongue of A. boskianus, while in P. guttatus, numerous taste buds are distributed on the fore-tongue and mid-tongue. Both surfaces of the laryngeal mound of both examined species provided with numerous of cilia and orifices of laryngeal gland. The present results confirmed that the tongue of A. boskianus acts as a chemoreceptor organ to follow pheromone trails of prey and mates. While in P. VS-4718 mouse guttatus the tongue may play an important role in the feeding mechanism and act as a chemoreceptor organ.
Ewing sarcoma (EWS) and osteosarcoma (OS) require multidisciplinary treatment. Care at specialized cancer centers (SCC Children's Oncology Group affiliated and/or National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center) has been found to improve outcomes in patients with leukemia, but studies have not considered location of care and outcomes in EWS and OS patients, an ideal group to evaluate given their specialized multidisciplinary treatment needs.

Patients hospitalized with primary EWS and OS (2000-2014) were identified using the California Cancer Registry linked with hospitalization data. Patients were divided into age groups (0-18, 19-39, ≥40years), and classified on whether they received all versus part/none of their inpatient treatment at a SCC within 1year of diagnosis. Multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression identified factors associated with survival.

There were 531 ES and 959 OS patients. Five-year overall survival was better for patients with EWS (all 63% vs. part/none 42%) and OS (all 64% vs.
