I created the original character, Erika Lindquist, into the League universe as the younger sister of Riven, a canon character. Riven, canonically, is a seemingly emotionless and cold-hearted person who sees physical strength as the only important factor to determine worth (which is the main belief of Noxus, their nation). In my writing, the two grew up with their parents, but were later left as orphans when their mother passed and their father disappeared. Erika grew up overshadowed by Riven, as the latter was known as the "poster girl of Noxus" and went above and beyond the expectations of the Noxian army.

Riven left for army duties, leaving Erika alone, or under the supervision of a family Riven didn't trust. Erika, 8 years younger than Riven, grew up, outwardly, as a fun-loving, compassionate person, who always hid her fear or loneliness. Riven showed small sparks of love and care for Erika, and Erika was the complete opposite, smiling wide and hugging her sister whenever she was home. Riven taught Erika how to use swords... and Erika eventually knocked Riven into a coma by accident. Riven woke up, but Erika had already left Noxus (because of the accident, plus other events). Some prior events made Riven overprotective of Erika, to the point where Erika felt as though Riven wasn't respecting her potential and ability. The two of them butted heads when it came to the definition of "strength" and Riven's overprotective nature, but they truly loved and cared for each other.

They have not met again in my writing. (Eventually, they will.) But I imagine when they do meet again, after all about 7 years, they'd get furious at each other, and then make up for it.
