Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic and relapsing inflammatory disease that affects 1%-20% of people worldwide. Despite affecting many people, AD current treatments, such as corticosteroids and calcineurin inhibitors, have not only harmful secondary effects but are also often ineffective. Therefore, natural nontoxic compounds are on high demand for developing new effective AD treatments. Panax ginseng Meyer has been used traditionally for its promising healing and restorative properties to treat many diseases including skin disorders, reason why in this review we want to explore the research performed with AD and P. ginseng as well as determining its potential for new drug development. Previous researches have shown that P. ginseng has positive effects in AD patients such as lower eczema area and severity index, transepidermal water loss, and immunoglobulin E levels and better quality of sleep. In vivo animal models, as well, have shown positive results to P. ginseng and derived ginsenosides, such as the decrease of transepidermal water loss, immunoglobulin E levels in serum, allergy-related cytokines, and downregulation of NF-κB, MAPK, and Ikaros pathways. All of these previous data suggest that P. ginseng and its derived ginsenosides are undoubtedly a nontoxic effective option to treat AD. © 2019 The Korean Society of Ginseng. Loss of vision becomes more frequent with age, and diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, and glaucoma are the major causes of vision impairment. To find active pharmacological compounds that might prevent or ameliorate the vision-threatening eye diseases, numerous studies have been performed, and some botanical compounds, including those extracted from ginseng, have been shown to possess beneficial effects in the treatment or prevention of common ocular diseases. In this review, we summarize the recent reports investigating the therapeutic effects of ginseng and ginsenosides on diverse ocular diseases and discuss their therapeutic potential. © 2019 The Korean Society of Ginseng. Neonatal morbidity and mortality are significant contributors to under-five morbidity and mortality in sub-Saharan Africa. Objective To assess prevalence and factors associated with neonatal mortality at Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital. Methods A facility-based cross-sectional study was conducted on neonates admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit of Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital from June 1, 2018 to May 30, 2019. ONO-AE3-208 Prostaglandin Receptor antagonist Data were taken retrospectively from patient records during admission, discharge, and death certificate issue. The data were entered and analyzed using SPSS version 23. Descriptive and logistic regression analysis was done to describe and identify associated factors with neonatal mortality. P-values 42 weeks (AOR 0.039; 95% CI 0.004-0.4250), parity (AOR 0.64; 95% CI 0.44-0.93) and hospital stay (AOR 0.09; 95% CI 0.05-0.14) were significantly associated with neonatal mortality. Neonates with a birth weight of less than 1500 g were at 49%, 70%, and 80% increased odds of mortality compared to those 1500-2499 g, 2500-3999 g, and more than 4000 g, respectively. Conclusion In this study neonatal mortality was significantly high. Neonatal mortality was highly associated with primipara, prematurity, low birth weight, perinatal asphyxia, respiratory distress syndrome, congenital anomaly, neonatal sepsis and duration of hospital stay. Many of those cases could be prevented by improving antenatal care follow up, emergency obstetric services, and the enhancement of neonatal resuscitation skills and management of sick neonates. © 2020 Hadgu et al.Purpose The objective of this qualitative study was to explore patient, rheumatologist, and extended role practitioner (ERP) perspectives on the integration of an allied health rheumatology triage (AHRT) intervention in Ontario rheumatology clinics. Triage is the process of identifying the urgency of a patient's condition to ensure they receive specialist care within an appropriate length of time. This research explores the clinical/logistical impact of triage by occupational and physical therapists with advanced arthritis training (ERPs), including facilitators and barriers of success, and recommendations for future application. Participants and Methods Semi-structured telephone interviews were held with participating rheumatologists, ERPs, and a sample of patients from each clinical site (4 community, 3 hospital) in five Ontario cities. Interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Transcripts were analyzed using basic qualitative description. Two independent researchers compared coding and achieof utilizing ERPs for stable patient follow-up in rheumatology settings. © 2020 Fullerton et al.Background Sickle cell anaemia (SCA) is an inherited hemoglobinopathy resulting in sickling of erythrocytes that cause micro-vascular obstruction leading to acute complications and chronic organ damage. Adults with SCA have endocrine complications and metabolic alterations. The aim of this study was to assess the association between gonadal and thyroid hormones with iron indices and to explore the potential association between serum ferritin levels and sex hormones in adult males with sickle cell disease in New Prince Saud Bin Jalawy Hospital (NPSBJH) in Hofuf city (Eastern region of Saudi Arabia) where there are many patients with SCA. Methods A cross-sectional analytical study was carried out in the Haematology Clinic at NPSBJH in 2018. A total of eighty (80) male patients with sickle cell anaemia were included in this study and were divided into two groups according to serum ferritin level. Group I (G-I) Included 40 male patients with high serum ferritin level and group II (G-II) included 40 male patients with normal serum ferritin level.
