We found that this hybridization strategy can be twisted from intra- to intermolecular to also program CircLigase to efficiently and predominantly join one ssDNA strand to another. We focused on DNA rings premade by CircLigase and demonstrated their utility in elevating the preparation, quantity, and quality of DNA topologies. Using membrane preparations from Mycobacterium smegmatis overexpressing aftA, farnesyl-phospho-arabinose as an Araf donor, and a series of synthetic galactan acceptors of various lengths, we here show that a single priming arabinosyl residue substitutes the C-5 position of a precisely positioned internal 6-linked galactofuranosyl residue of the galactan acceptors, irrespective of their length. This unexpected result suggests that, like the structurally related mycobacterial lipoarabinomannans, the arabinogalactan of mycobacteria may in fact harbor a single arabinan chain.Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is a malignant mucoepithelial tumor that affects pets and farm animals. Common sites are dorsal areas and/or areas of poor skin pigmentation exposed to mutagenic ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Novel ovine papillomavirus (OaPV3) was recently described in SCC lesions in Sardinia breed ovines. In 2017, a 7‑year‑old half‑breed aries was presented with symptoms compatible with a vestibular syndrome. The animal was euthanized 1 month after the onset of clinical signs due to a lack of response to treatment and poor prognosis. A complete postmortem examination was performed. Necropsy revealed only a loss of incisors, associated with alveolar necrotic osteomyelitis, and left unilateral purulent nasal discharge. No other thoracic or abdominal lesions were observed. Opening of the skull revealed a cauliflower‑like space‑occupying mass. Histological examination showed trabecules and islands of squamous, neoplastic epithelial cells with the formation of concentric keratin layers. This raised the suspicion of SCC, which was confirmed with cytokeratin‑positive immunostaining. Simplex PCR on the frozen tissue mass was negative for OaPV1, OaPV2, and OaPV3. This case report suggests that SCC, although rare, should be included in the differential diagnosis of cases of vestibular disorder.Chianina is an Italian cattle breed appreciated for its meat and resilience skills. No standard values are present in literature regarding Chianina thymic involution. A possible early physiological involution has been reported during the Italian National Residue Plan screening tests. The aim of this work was to perform an anatomo‑histopathological study of the thymus in Chianina cattle to improve knowledge about thymic involution in this breed. Forty Chianina bulls (16‑24 months old), never treated with corticosteroids and regularly slaughtered in the Umbria region (Italy), were enrolled. Animals aged 19‑21 months which received score 3 thymic atrophy had a prevalence of 0.15 (CI 95% 0.02‑0.45%), while the prevalence was 0.29 (CI 95% 0.10‑0.56%) among animals aged 22‑24 months. The thymus/carcass weight and thymic cortex/medulla ratio resulted close to those reported in cattle experimentally challenged with corticosteroids. Results suggest that the Chianina breed could be characterized by a physiological premature involution of the thymus gland in comparison to other breeds. These results represent a starting point to increase the reliability of the National Residue Plan histological screening test.Outbreaks of avian influenza H5N1 in poultry occurred in Africa's poultry and 16 countries have reported human infections globally. Intensified human-animal interactions necessitate correct communication of health messages to reduce zoonotic infection. This work was done to determine differences between pictorial and literal health education communication. Cross-sectional survey using literal and pictorial questionnaires in LBMs and poultry farms was carried out among respondents based on matching criteria. Responses were scored and analysed with probability of independence using Chi square test and pairwise correlation. The degree of knowledge of clinical signs in birds, species affected, communication means and biosecurity were good, that of the post-mortem signs was poor with increasing potentials of human exposure to virus-rich visceral tissues from slaughtered sick birds. Marked differences exist for the various items listed within each knowledge field, the odds of having correct responses from pictorial were better than with literal respondents.
