In systems frequently disturbed, individuals can be recruited from the seed bank, and areas under natural regeneration can be more easily invaded when exotic newcomers are in the system, including the presence of invasive propagules in the soil seed bank. This study analyzed the dynamics of the soil seed bank in invaded and non-invaded areas of open savannas elucidating the potential of grass regeneration from the seed bank. Soil samples were collected in areas with different invasive grasses Urochloa brizantha (Hochst. ex A. click here Rich.) R.D.Webster - synonym Brachiaria brizantha (Hochst. ex A. Rich.) Stapf, Melinis minutiflora Beauv. and areas with native vegetation. Soil seed bank was assessed using two techniques seed counting and seedling emergence. Dominant species in each area influenced the seed bank composition, showing the highest densities from April to September. In invaded areas, the seed bank was composed mainly of invasive grasses that contributed to 98% (670 ± 382 seeds.m-2) of total seeds. In non-invaded areas, the soil seed bank presented the highest density (65%, 135 ± 38 seeds.m-2) of native species. However, the presence of invasive grasses was significant, with 35% of the total seeds belonging to U. brizantha. Although non-invaded areas have a higher potential for regeneration by native grasses, the presence of invasive grasses in the seed bank is an indication that the invasive species is already in the system and changes in the aboveground cover could accelerate the invasion process. Early management efforts towards establishing and/or established invasive species before seed dispersal could help reduce the soil seed bank load and should be carried out to control and avoid the establishment of African grasses, since they can dominate the seed bank in non-invaded areas if they are present in neighboring areas, affecting the dynamics of plant communities.Suitable and standardized indicators to track progress in disaster and climate resilience are increasingly considered a key requirement for successfully informing efforts towards effective disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation. Standardized measures of resilience which can be used across different geographical and socioeconomic contexts are however sparse. We present and analyze a standardized community resilience measurement framework for flooding. The corresponding measurement tool is modelled based on and adapted from a so-called 'technical risk grading' approach as used in the insurance sector. The grading approach of indicators is based on a two-step process (i) raw data is collected, and (ii) experts grade the indicators, called sources of resilience, based on this data. We test this approach using approximately 1.25 million datapoints collected across more than 118 communities in nine countries. The quantitative analysis is complemented by content analysis to validate the results from a qualitework, and the Sustainable Development Goals.This paper intends to classify the interictal state with hypsarrhythmia in patients with Zika Virus Congenital Syndrome (ZVCS) and of the ictal state in patients with epilepsy in childhood without the presence of hypsarrhythmia. Hypsarrhythmia is a specific interictal chaotic morphology, and the correct distinction between these two EEG states is crucial to improving the cognitive development of these epileptic patients. The proposed approach was assessed using the proprietary database of Casa Ninar, which contains data regarding children from northeastern Brazil born with microcephaly caused by the Zika virus. We also used data from the CHB-MIT database. Fundamental rhythms of the EEG signal δ, θ, α, and β were analyzed, and then decomposed by Discrete Wavelet Transform, in which 45 mother wavelet functions were tested to determine the most appropriate function to represent the EEG signals in the hypsarrhythmia interictal and ictal states. We extracted Shannon, Log Energy, Norm, and Sure entropy measures of the subbands as relevant features, and the combinations among them were applied in the state-of-the-art machine learning methods. The combination of Sure entropy with Shannon entropy, or with Log Energy and Norm, extracted from the δ rhythm, allowed for the best linear separability between the classes in most of the classifiers, obtaining 100% accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity.This study aimed to identify the differential S-nitrosylated proteins at post-mortem in beef longissimus thoracis (LT) muscles from carcasses with intermediate (5.40 less then pH less then 5.80, n = 6) and high (pH ≥ 6.00, n = 6) ultimate pH (pHu). LT muscles were labeled with iodo-tandem mass tags (iodoTMT126-129). A total of 856 S-nitrosylated sites from 257 proteins were identified in high pHu beef LT muscles. The S-nitrosylated protein intensity in high pHu beef was higher compared to that of intermediate pHu beef along with a large number of cysteine sites. The motif revealed that the cysteine modifications played an essential role in cellular signaling and homeostasis. In high pHu beef, more up-regulated proteins were related to energy metabolism enzymes and mitochondrial dysfunction enzymes compared to down-regulated proteins which are involved in calcium homeostasis.Pregnant women with 2019 novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pneumonia are a special group of patients in the pandemic. We report a case of pregnant woman with COVID-19 pneumonia in the second trimester. Clinical and imaging features of the patient were similar to that reported in the literatures for both perinatal patients and non-pregnant patients.
