The burden of ovarian cancer (OC) in low-income countries continues to increase annually. This gynecological cancer, known for its poor survival outcomes, has not attracted much interest in medical research as compared to other women's malignancies such as breast cancer. This bibliometric study was conducted to better depict the global map and the future directions of scientific productivity in the area of OC research in Morocco.

Publication trends on OC were retrospectively analyzed using a number of bibliometric parameters based on the Pubmed database and other resources.

During the time period (1900-2018), a total number of 74 publications responding to the inclusion criteria were found and incorporated in the bibliometric analysis. This was dominated by case reports and case series on rare ovarian tumors (n=60). In the core cluster, only 10 original studies and 3 reviews on OC were published by Moroccan researchers. After full-text appraisal for study population, only two clinical original articles ing the last five years, a marked acceleration of publishing this research category with little impact in the evidence-based practice was noticed.

While all resources have been mobilized to fight COVID-19, this study aimed to analyze the consequences of lockdown and pandemic stress in participants with and without Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

An online survey was proposed to people with or without IBS during the exponential phase of the pandemic in France. The questionnaire included questions about socio-demographic data, conditions of confinement, activities carried out, IBS characteristics, measurement of stress level, consequences on sleep, fatigue, anxiety and depression, and quality of life (both perceived non-specific and specific for IBS).

From March 31 to April 15, 2020, 304 participants, 232 with IBS and 72 without were included in the survey (mean age 46.8±16.8 years, female gender 75.3%). Age, level of education, financial resources, living space per person and activities performed during confinement were identical in both groups. Stress linked to fear of COVID-19, lockdown and financial worries was at the same level in both groups, but the psychological consequences and deterioration of quality of life (QOL) were both higher in IBS participants. In a univariate analysis, teleworking, solitary confinement, and low household resources had a variable impact on the scores of depression, anxiety, fatigue and non-specific perceived QOL, but in a multivariate analysis, the only factor explaining a deterioration of non-specific QOL was the fact of suffering from IBS.

COVID-19 put out many interesting aspects of society's responses to an epidemic. Epidemics have a long-standing history in literature. We want to analyze if society's responses to the epidemic have changed over time, and what literature can teach about the society's reaction to an epidemic.

We searched and discussed the references to the social effects of the epidemic that are provided in three famous works of European literature providing descriptions about society's reactions to an epidemic throughout the centuries have been selected "The Decameron" by Giovanni Boccaccio, "The Betrothed" by Alessandro Manzoni, and "The Plague" by Albert Camus.

Literature teaches us that the epidemic's spread is often preceded and favoured by a phase of negation or under evaluation of the problem; restrictive measures are the most efficient for containing the virus' spread; some people have difficulties in being compliant with these measures; infodemia may accompany an epidemic, feeding chaos and fear among the people.

Looking at examples of epidemics reported in the past, we can conclude that the current COVID-19 pandemic shows that society's responses to an unknown disease are not changed over time.
