In between Shor along with Steane: Any Unifying Construction regarding Computing Blunder Syndromes.
The complications were four cases of notching, one case of acromial fracture due to stress, and one case of postoperative infection. Conclusions  Reverse arthroplasty of the shoulder presents good functional results in the evaluated scores, providing a significant improvement in the quality of life of the patients. Objective  To evaluate the results of the surgical treatment of fractures of the middle third of the clavicle. Methods  A retrospective cross-sectional study, in which 36 patients who suffered fractures of the middle third of the clavicle and who were surgically treated from January 2012 to February 2017 were evaluated. They were evaluated for types of fracture, age, smoking, osteosynthesis material, and Constant-Murley and Modified-University of California at Los Angeles Shoulder Rating Scale (UCLA-M) scores. Results  The mean Constant-Murley and UCLA-M scores were 91.59 and 31.29 respectively. The mean age was 37.62 years, and it was statistically related to the type of osteosynthesis ( p   less then  0.05), but the osteosynthesis material did not show significance with the improvement in the rates of the functional scores. Conclusion  The surgical treatment provides good functional results after diaphyseal fractures of the clavicle, regardless of the line of the fracture, with a low rate of pseudarthrosis. Objective  To assess how shoulder specialists have used infiltration in their daily practice. Methods  A survey study in which shoulder and elbow specialists answered a questionnaire on the use of infiltration in painful shoulders. Results  Most of the doctors (45.9%) have > 10 years of experience in the area and have carried out up to 10 infiltrations in the last 12 months. The main indications for glenohumeral and subacromial infiltration are glenohumeral arthrosis and rotator cuff tendinopathy, respectively. The most used portals are the posterior (52.2%) for glenohumeral infiltration and the lateral (57.5%) for subacromial infiltration. The majority of the doctors (752%) infiltrate in an outpatient setting without imaging methods, and the most commonly used drug is the combination of corticoid and anesthetic. The main contraindication cited is the presence of diabetes, and the most common complication is pain after infiltration. Conclusion  Subacromial infiltrations are indicated especially for the treatment of rotator cuff tendinopathies and bursitis, performed by the lateral portal, in an outpatient setting, with low index of long-term complications. Glenohumeral infiltrations are indicated especially for glenohumeral arthrosis, with a combination of a corticoid and anesthetic, performed mostly in an outpatient setting. Objective  To evaluate possible connections between the weight and height of patients submitted to total knee arthroplasty (TKA), with the length, width and area of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) fovea, as verified during surgery. Methods  A total of 33 proximal tibial joint surfaces, obtained from TKA tibial sections of 33 patients, were used in the present study. The ACL was resected with a delicate scalpel to expose the ACL tibial fovea. S(-)-Propranolol molecular weight Then the periphery of this fovea was delimited with a marker pen by means of small dots. Each piece was photographed, and the ACL tibial fovea length, width, and area were measured with the ImageJ (National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, USA) software. Statistical analysis studied the correlation between anthropometrics data of the patients and the measurements of the ACL tibial fovea. Results  The ACL tibial fovea length, width, and area were, respectively, 11.7 ± 2.0 mm, 7.1 ± 1.4 mm and 151.3 ± 22.2 mm 2 . There was a statistically significant relationship between the height of the patients and the width of the ACL tibial fovea. The width of the ACL fovea could be predicted by the formula width = 107.294-(133.179 × height) + (44.009 × squared height). Conclusion  The height of the patients may predict the width of the ACL tibial fovea, and therefore, may allow surgeons to choose the more adequate graft for each patient in ACL reconstruction. Objective  To compare the postoperative functional result of total knee arthroplasty (TKA) with gender-specific prosthesis versus TKA with conventional prosthesis in a 5-year period. Methods  Retrospective study with functional evaluation of 30 patients (15 patients from each group) using scores (Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score [KOOS], Western Ontario and McMaster Universities arthritis index [WOMAC], and The Knee Society Clinical Rating System [KSS]) and range of motion (ROM) as methods of assessment. Results  The differences found between the score values and ROM were not statistically significant. Conclusion  The gender-specific prosthesis presents functional results equal to those of conventional prosthesis after 5 years postoperatively. Objectives  To evaluate the management of tibial fractures resulting in bone loss (traumatic or infection-related) and the complications occurring during treatment with external fixator and immediately after apparatus removal. Methods  Forty patients were selected from 2010 to 2017. The mean age of the patients was 33.02 years; 34 subjects were male and 6 were female. All patients had tibial bone regeneration, suffered trauma (mainly related to motorcycle accident) and were followed-up at an outpatient facility. Results  Proximal tibial bones of up to 17 cm in length and distal tibial bones of up to 14 cm in length were obtained. The largest trifocal transport had the same length as the regenerated bone tissues, which was 14.5 cm. Regarding complications, 29 (72.5%) patients had infections in the pin and wire paths. There were 9 (22.5%) cases of de novo fracture, 6 of which were managed with the implantation of a new circular fixator, and 2 cases of infection of the regenerated bone. On average, patients were subjected to 4.72 procedures (ranging from 2-12), had the fixator for 20.75 months (ranging from 7-55 months), and stayed at the hospital for 53.7 days (ranging from 5-183 days), mainly because of soft-tissue complications, intravenous antibacterial therapy, and even social issues. Two (5%) patients presented symptomatic gonarthrosis, and two other patients had symptomatic ankle arthritis. Three of the patients showed lower limb discrepancy of 3.0, 3.7, and 5.0 cm. Conclusion  Despite not being widely available, the Ilizarov method is useful for solving the majority of tibial bone losses, regardless of their etiology.
