One undescribed lignan, one new natural product, along with fourteen known compounds, were isolated from the roots of Ficus hirta. The structures of the isolates were elucidated by comprehensive spectroscopic technologies, including UV, IR, HRESIMS, and NMR. The absolute configuration of 1 was determined by comparison of experimental and calculated ECD data. The cytotoxicity of all the compounds against HeLa and HepG2 cell lines was evaluated and compound 7 showed considerable cytotoxic effect towards HepG2 cells. Also, the apoptotic effect of 7 on HepG2 cells and the effect of 7 on the key proteins (p-JNK and p-p38) in MAPK (Mitogen-activated protein kinases) pathways were studied by flow cytometry and western blotting experiment. As a result, compound 7 induced the apoptosis of HepG2 cells, and dose-dependently increased the phosphorylation of JNK and p38. Thus, 7 might trigger HepG2 cells apoptosis via JNK/p38 MAPK signaling pathway.Carbonic anhydrases (CAs, EC 4.2.1.1) activators were shown to be involved in memory enhancement and learning in animal models of cognition. Curcumin, rutin, and quercetin are well-known flavonoids and piperine is an alkaloid, commonly used as spices and traditionally used to treat a variety of conditions. In the current scenario, the stability problems of phytoconstituents are a major problem for regulators and because of the complex nature of the components of plant extracts.
A simple, fast, and sensitive ultra-force reverse phase liquid chromatography (RP-UFLC) has been developed, validated, and studied for degradation studies.
Seven different plant extracts were quantified and the stability of the constituents was estimated by forced degradation studies. The separation of the phytoconstituents was performed on a Phenomenex C
column with a mobile phase of 80% acetonitrile and 20% (25 mM) ammonium acetate (pH 3) at a flow rate of 1 mLmin
detected at 380 nm.
The results of the study showed that the method developed was linear with a range of correlation coefficient 0.994-0.999. The specificity, precision, and accuracy were well within the limits. Quantification showed that a maximum content of curcumin (3.61%, w/w) was found in the extract of
L extract, piperine in
L (13.92%, w/w), rutin in
L (15.19%, w/w), and quercetin in
L (0.36%, w/w). Forced degradation studies have shown that rutin was very stable in acidic media (6.65%, w/w) and curcumin was less stable in alkaline media (100%, w/w).

Moreover, seagrass feedstocks could contribute cost-effectively and sustainably producing HMF by exploiting the beach-cast seagrasses on seagrass-prairies with no feedstock cost, indicating that seagrass biomasses could be a most promising biofeedstock source for sustainable HMF production. We afford a platform bioprocessing technology that has not been attempted before for sustainable HMF production using raw seagrass biomass. This bioprocess can be operated by simple reaction conditions using inorganic Brønsted acids (mainly HCl) and ionic liquid solvents at relatively low temperatures (120-130 °C). In addition, some bioengineering strategies for improving the growth of seagrass biomass and the quantity/quality of nonstructural carbohydrates (starch, sucrose) that can be used as the feeding substrates for HMF production are also discussed. The main aim of this review is to provide some important information about breakthrough bio/technologies conducive to cost-effective and sustainable HMF production.
