We aim to evaluate the strength of the quadriceps tendon using isokinetic tests in hemodialysis patients treated with the transpatellar tunnel technique for bilateral spontaneous quadriceps tendon ruptures. Additionally, functional and clinical results were investigated and compared with hemodialysis patients without a history of quadriceps tendon rupture. We retrospectively reviewed hemodialysis patients diagnosed with quadriceps tendon rupture who were operated between 2005 and 2015 at our institution. Eight patients with simultaneous bilateral quadriceps tendon rupture treated with the transpatellar tunnel technique (group 1; the operated group) and 10 patients with chronic renal failure without a history of quadriceps tendon rupture who underwent hemodialysis (group 2; the control group) were included in this study. The active range of motion (ROM), Lysholm and Tegner scores, knee flexor and extensor muscle stre muscle might be significantly lower than control group. Following an exponential increase in SARS-CoV-2 infections, the city of Jena, Thuringia, was the first in Germany to introduce mandatory mouth and nose coverings. An estimation of the SARS-CoV-2 period prevalence was achieved by screening an unselected cohort of pregnant women. Of interest was the number of unreported cases.

From 6 April to 13 May 2020, 234 pregnant women were admitted to the Department of Obstetrics. A total of 225 (96.2%) SARS-CoV-2 PCRs were carried out and all remained negative. Specific IgG antibodies were detected in one (0.6%) of 180 (76.9%) antibody tests performed. The interval estimate of the period prevalence thus results in a 95% confidence interval between 0-1.7%. Especially patient groups in special situations like pregnant women and newborns have to be considered separately. The current knowledge about pregnancy, labor and the first days of life is characterized by particular uncertainty due to the scarce data available. As a rule, specific types of tumours can be assessed with regard to spatial allocation to a mediastinal compartment. However, if possible, diagnosis should be confirmed via puncture or a biopsy. Various methods are available. Choosing the optimal access route for surgical removal of a mediastinal tumour is an important issue. It must be planned on the basis of the tumour's spatial location, size and extent in imaging. This is the best possible option for low-risk and complete removal of any mediastinal tumour.
