How to Repair Common Oven Parts
Ovens are a common kitchen appliance used to cook food. The heat of the oven sterilizes food and kills the majority of microorganisms.
Every baker needs an accurate oven thermometer. Understanding how your oven works will help improve your baking and roasting abilities and eliminate those irritated hot spots that can cause havoc with cakes, cookies and other baked products.
Thermostat
The thermostat is an essential part of your oven. It helps to ensure that the temperature of food corresponds to the temperature that you set on the control panel. The oven thermostat is an extremely small strip of two different metals bonded together. If you have a multimeter (which is a device that detects electrical current), set it to the ohms setting and then test the thermostat. If the multimeter shows zero or close to zero it means that the thermostat is working properly and doesn't need to be changed.

Bake Element

Similar to the bake element, the broiler heating element converts electrical energy into heat via the process of resistance. It is comprised of an inner core of wires that are wrapped in an insulating expanded perlite material. The inner core is enclosed in an outer layer of stainless steel to shield the wires from direct contact with the oven. The three-layer design helps reduce the temperature of the broil element, making it more secure than older designs.
You can use any heating element you want to use for baking or broiling in your oven. But, you must choose one that is in line with the wattage of your oven's rating. Utilizing a different wattage may harm your oven or cause it to overheat. The voltage and current ratings of the new heating elements are available on the control panel of your oven. This allows you to determine the power and rating of your oven.
Examine the resistance of your old element, then compare it to the wattage rating of the new element. The greater the resistance, the more power an oven element uses.
If the heating element in your broiler is malfunctioning or isn't working in any way, you should replace it as soon as possible. Your oven must function correctly to to cook your favourite meals.
