Investigation of Man Gut Microbiota Composition Associated to a good Commensal as well as Pathogen Bacteria within Côte d'Ivoire.
(7.2%) and Staphylococcus aureus (6.5%). The trend of resistance of meropenem was declining in P. aeruginosa isolates. Klebsiella sp. as the second most prevalent agent showed a high level of resistance to the studied antibiotics. The antibiogram results for S. aureus isolates showed an increasing trend in MRSA isolates. Conclusion By evaluating the infectious agent, it was found that although frequencies of microorganisms and resistant isolates were a little high, performing a multidisciplinary approach controls the trend during the study period. These achievements have been gained due to a strict politicized infection control and stewardship program in the appointed burn center. Background West Nile virus (WNV) is one of the widely distributed arboviruses in the world, and it is a pathogen of both humans and animals. The evidence that supports the prevalence of the WNV infection in Ethiopia is very scarce. Hence, this study aimed to assess the seropositivity of WNV among patients with acute febrile illness. Methods This health institution-based descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted on 532 acute febrile patients from May to August 2016 in Arba Minch Zuria district selected public health facilities, Southern Ethiopia. A pre-structured questionnaire was used to collect socio-demographic and clinical related information of the participants through convenient sampling techniques. In addition, trained nurses who were working in the health centers were responsible for interviewing acute febrile patients. Ivosidenib research buy About 5 mL of venous blood was collected aseptically from each of the study participants for the screening of the WNV immunoglobulin G (IgG) and immunoglobulin M (IgM) antibodiess to decrease the risk of WNV exposure in the areas.Purpose Carbapenem resistance is rarely reported in Salmonella Typhimurium, especially from a food origin. Here, we report a plasmid-mediated mobile carbapenem-resistant blaNDM-5 gene in Salmonella Typhimurium isolated from pork in Shanghai, China in 2016. Patients and methods In July 2016, the S. Typhimurium SH160 strain was recovered from minced pork meat purchased from a supermarket in Yangpu District, Shanghai, China. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing, multi-locus sequence typing, conjugation, S1-PFGE, southern hybridization, whole-genome sequencing and data analysis were performed. Results This isolate was found to be a ST34 strain and resistant to carbapenems, cephalosporins, and most other commonly used antibiotics. The blaNDM-5 gene was harbored by a 46161-bp IncX3 plasmid which was found to be transferable. The IncX3 plasmid contains a composite cassette, consisting of ISSwil-IS3000-ΔISAba125-IS5-blaNDM-5-bleMBL-trpF-dsbC-IS26-ctuA1-ΔumuD. In addition, this strain was found to harbor an additional 161706-bp IncHI2 plasmid which carries nine resistant genes, such as aadA1, aadA3, aph(3')-la, sul1, sul2, sul3, floR, cmlA and dfrA12. Conclusion We reported the S. Typhimurium with transferable IncX3 plasmid harboring blaNDM-5 gene from minced pork. We characterized the complete genetic features of the plasmid, which demonstrated the potential for spreading in different bacterial pathogens. Therefore, extensive surveillance and monitoring for carbapenem-resistant bacterium in the food chain and public health are urgently required.Purpose To compare the clinical efficacy between peramivir and oseltamivir in hospitalized patients with influenza. Patients and methods Retrospective cohort study examined data from 542 adult patients with laboratory-confirmed seasonal influenza hospitalized in five teaching hospitals and one secondary hospital between August 2017 and May 2018. The main outcome was the defervescence rate within 3 days from the first administration of peramivir or oseltamivir. The secondary outcomes were mortality and duration of hospitalization/intensive care unit (ICU) stay. Results Of the 542 enrolled patients, 251 were administered the standard dose of peramivir (300 mg, single dose), 42 were administered peramivir at doses exceeding 300 mg, and 249 were administered oseltamivir (75 mg, twice daily for 5 days). There were more ICU and pneumonia cases and older patients in the peramivir group, especially the high-dose group. The Charlson comorbidity index (CCI) scores were similar among the three groups. There were no significant differences in defervescence rates within 3 days between the three groups. The mortality and duration of hospital and ICU stays also did not differ significantly. The factors associated with 30-day mortality were ICU admission, high CCI score, and pneumonia. Conclusion Treatment of influenza with either peramivir or oseltamivir in hospitalized adults resulted in generally similar clinical outcomes. Peramivir treatment showed good clinical response in influenza patients with pneumonia or admitted to the ICU.Background Urinary tract infection is one of the most common health problems during pregnancy. It is most commonly reported among pregnant women and is a known reason of morbidity during pregnancy worldwide, predominantly in developing countries. The etiological agents include Escherichia coli, Klebsiella species, Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase negative Staphylococci, Proteus mirabilis, Enterococcus species, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter species, non-hemolytic streptococci, Citrobacter species and others. Different risk factors expose pregnant women to urinary tract infection. Drug resistance by uropathogenic bacteria is a current problem of the world. This study was aimed at reviewing the prevalence of bacterial uropathogens and their antimicrobial resistance patterns among pregnant women in developing countries in Asia and Africa, during the past decade. Methods A systematic literature search was accomplished to identify published studies between January 2005 and November 2016. The literature searcficant prevalence of UTI among pregnant women is mainly observed in Africa and Asia. Uropathogenic bacteria showed resistance to antimicrobial drugs that are regularly used in developing countries. This may show the need to incorporate culture and drug susceptibility tests into the routine antenatal care for pregnant women and drug resistance should be monitored.
