The importance of surface charge for PFAS adsorption was further corroborated by the observation that the adsorption of PFASs decreased upon phosphate adsorption in a way that was consistent with the decrease in ferrihydrite ζ-potential. The results show that ferrihydrite can be an important sorbent for PFASs with six or more perfluorinated carbons in acid environments (pH ≤ 5), particularly when phosphate and other competitors are present in relatively low concentrations.Treatment resistance is a persistent neurochemical condition characterized by the presence of «hybrid» metabolism, which combines both pathological and drug-dependent metabolisms. The difficulties in management and prevention of treatment resistance are associated with a lack of understanding of neurochemical aspects of the development of higher mental functions. The authors suggest that the basic types of species-preserving behavior are associated with the activity of monoaminergic systems while the modulation of their activity is predetermined by local neuronal networks in the rostral parts of the brain, where a variety of co-transmitters play an important role. It is emphasized that the mechanisms of the development of resistance after previous treatment with agonists (antidepressants, anxiolytics) or antagonists (antipsychotics) are different. Depending on drug actions on synaptic transmission, methodological aspects of treatment resistance management by means of «polar therapy», «sensitization» and combination strategies are considered. The coronovirus COVID-19 pandemic is a very strong challenge for the public health system and the general population. Despite the existing experience in eliminating epidemics and their consequences in the world, including experience in maintaining mental health, the new coronavirus infection entails new problems that need to be addressed as soon as possible. Important is the need to mobilize psychological and psychiatric service. The article is a review of literature published mainly in 2019-2020. The databases used were PubMed, Elsevierscience and Google Scholar. The paper presents relevant data on risk factors for mental disorders during a pandemic, the range of psychological reactions and symptoms of mental disorders in the population, the characteristics of the management of patients with mental disorders, and the role of the psychological and psychiatric unit during this period. The consolidation of efforts and the quickest possible start of solving mental health problems will help to avoid significant consequences in the future. The importance of finding predictors or biomarkers of neuropsychiatric pathology, as well as methods of its prevention, treatment and early diagnosis is beyond question. this website The level of neopterin in body fluids is one of the possible biomarkers. Increased levels of neopterin in biological fluids (e.g., serum, cerebrospinal fluid or urine) are closely associated with various diseases associated with cellular immune response. The data presented in the review indicate the relevance of the study of neopterin concentrations in body fluids in patients with mental illness for the development of diagnostic and prognostic tests or as a pharmacodynamic marker of drug action.Until now, there is no understanding of the relationship between risk factors and the progression of cerebrovascular pathology. The review presents facts that confirm the involvement of various subtypes of purine P2 receptors in neuron activation, growth and myelination of axons, migration and microglia phagocytosis, astrogliosis, regulation of vascular tone, thrombosis and angiogenesis, neuroinflammation and immune responses. The data suggest the possibility of the activation of purinergic system of the brain during the development of main risk factors for cerebrovascular pathology (age, arterial hypertension, diabetes), as a stereotypical mechanism that can affect the homeostasis of the ensemble "neuron-glia-capillary". Purinergic P2 receptors may be a potential target for the development of pharmacological methods to limit the progression of cerebrovascular pathology.Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an incurable neurodegenerative disease characterized by selective degeneration of motor neurons of the motor cortex, brain stem and brain stem. Mutations in genes coding for SOD1, C9ORF72, TDP-43, FUS and others are associated with ALS and result in abnormal processing and transport of RNA as well as changes in the dynamics of cytoskeleton. In addition, a sharp change in the metabolism of various lipid classes, including phospholipids, fatty acids, sphingolipids, etc., was detected. This review describes changes in lipid content and activity of enzymes involved in their metabolism in ALS animal models as well as in patients. Changes in the metabolism of fatty acids, phospholipids, cholesterol and its derivatives are reviewed in detail. The prospects of searching for new drugs among modulators of lipid metabolism enzymes are discussed. There is currently no data on the increased incidence of new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) or on the more severe course of the disease in patients with epilepsy. However, given the high prevalence of epilepsy among patients after age 60, an increased burden of somatic comorbidities among people with epilepsy, as well as the need of continuous access to antiepileptic drugs (AED) and care for patients with epilepsy, there are a number of important concerns in time of regarding the management of epilepsy during COVID-19 pandemic. The article discusses the main principles of epilepsy management during the COVID-19 pandemic the need to comply with the regime; the importance of AED adherence, taking into account drug-drug interactions; switching patients to intravenous AED forms if necessary.
To study the features of the rehabilitation of patients with foot drop syndrome and to develop recommendations for the appointment of technical means of rehabilitation (TMR) for this pathology.
Retrospective analysis of the survey data of 375 patients in need of lower limb orthosis was carried out. General clinical and biomechanical methods were used to study the disturbances of statodynamic function of the musculoskeletal system.
The results confirm that patients with foot drop syndrome have disturbances of support, stability, symmetry and rhythmicity of walking and, as a result, a significant deterioration in the quality of life. It has been established that the patients is not fully provided with orthoses and orthopedic shoes appointed to compensate for impaired function. Practitioners and rehabilitation specialists have difficulties in substantiating the needs and recommendations of TMR for a particular patient. The presented medical and technical requirements for product designs, the methodology for determining the need for them and recommendations for the appointment of TMR will contribute to the successful rehabilitation of patients with foot drop syndrome.
