High expression of
is related to AMI and it may be an independent risk factor for AMI.
RORA expression levels in patients with AMI is significantly higher than that in patients with stable coronary artery disease. High expression of RORA is related to AMI and it may be an independent risk factor for AMI.Background/Purpose Telehealth has evolved over the past several decades to address varying medical needs. Most recently, it has been widely utilized as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Most previous studies have not performed in-depth analyses of patient satisfaction with telehealth technologies. This project investigated patient satisfaction with the abrupt implementation of telemedicine within pediatric surgical subspecialties during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials and Methods We conducted a single-center review to determine patients' satisfaction with telemedicine during the early stages of the pandemic. Surveys were distributed to patients who completed a telemedicine video visit within a pediatric surgical subspecialty at Connecticut Children's Medical Center between March 16 and May 16, 2020. Results A total of 1,608 patients were contacted, with 457 surveys completed (28.4%). Of all respondents, 95.6% were "very satisfied" or "satisfied" with their overall telemedicine appointment. Seventy-three percent reported no difficulty with completing their visit. Eighty-seven percent would consider another telemedicine visit again in the future. No significant difference was found between the payor mix for telemedicine and in-person appointments. Conclusions The implementation of telemedicine at Connecticut Children's Medical Center during the COVID-19 pandemic was successful despite numerous barriers to use. Families not only showed high rates of satisfaction with the overall visit and provider interaction, but also an overwhelming openness to future use of telehealth. Background Despite widespread investigation into the incidence of acute myocardial infarction during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and associated lockdown, no study has examined the situation's impact on blood pressure (BP) levels. Methods Measurements of BP and heart rate (HR) were obtained from persons living in the Paris urban area using connected home BP monitors (accessible to patients and health providers through a secured server). Three time periods of e-health recordings were compared during the pandemic before the lockdown, during the lockdown, and the same time period in 2019. Results A total of 297,089 BP recordings from 2,273 participants (age 56.3 ± 12.8 years, 81.1% male) were made. During confinement, systolic BP gradually decreased by 3 mmHg (-2.4 to -3.9), and diastolic BP by 1.5 mmHg (-1.4 to -2.2) (all p less then 0.001); this decrease was greater for participants with higher BP (p less then 0.0001 each). No significant variation in HR was noted. Conclusion Among a very large cohort, we observed a significant decrease in home BP measured with e-health devices during the first lockdown period. This study emphasizes the research potential of e-health during the COVID-19 crisis.Fiber-reinforced soft pneumatic actuators (FR-SPAs) are among the most successful soft actuators in the soft robotics community considering their structural strength, motion range, and force output. Inspired by the pneumatic artificial muscle, the bending-type tubular SPAs have also been applied with fiber winding for body reinforcement and then utilized in many applications. Due to their superior utility and popularity, FR-SPAs have been extensively modeled using different methods. However, very little attention was given to the compression on the inner wall of the FR-SPAs by the compressed air. Furthermore, there is no unified modeling principle for bending, force output, and deflection of the FR-SPA. In this article, we take into account the inner compression and propose a static modeling approach based on the moment equilibrium for three important and frequently studied cases free bending, block force, and deflection upon block force of the FR-SPA. Stress analysis of the material inside the fiber wall is conducted, which reveals the influence of radial compression by the input air. Then, the new stress expression is used in the moment equilibrium and results in the SPA models for the three aforementioned cases. The models are experimentally verified using SPAs featuring two profile designs and three different silicone rubbers. The results show that the placement of the fiber wall plays an important role in the SPA behavior. More importantly, the models successfully differentiate the two profiles and produce fairly accurate predictions of the bending angles, block forces, and deflections. The understanding of the compression effect offers a new variable in the FR-SPA design process, which can be used to tune the SPA properties for different applications.Enucleated oocytes can reprogram differentiated nuclei to totipotency after somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT), which is valuable in understanding nuclear reprogramming and generating genetically modified animals. To date, reprogramming efficiency is low and the development of SCNT embryos is not going as well as anticipated. To further disclose the reprogramming mechanisms during SCNT zebrafish embryo development, we examined the expression patterns of transcription regulation factors and regulated them by mRNA and morpholino microinjection. In this study, we show that stem cell-related transcription factors are downregulated in zebrafish SCNT embryos at the blastula stage. Exogenous expression of pou5f3 at the single-cell stage improves SCNT embryo development from the blastula to the gastrula stage. We also found that exogenous expression of klf4 or sox2 decreases SCNT embryo development from the blastula to the gastrula stage, while expression of nanog is necessary for the development of SCNT embryos. Veliparib solubility dmso Our results conclude that zebrafish pou5f3 facilitates the development of SCNT embryos from the blastula to gastrula stage. Background Quality of life (QOL) and psychological health has been reported to be decreased among women with gynecological conditions such as uterine fibroids (UFs). Materials and Methods Women enrolled in the Comparing Options for Management PAtient-centered REsults for Uterine Fibroids (COMPARE-UF) registry, receiving procedural therapy for symptomatic UFs, were eligible for this analysis if they completed a series of health-related QOL surveys administered at three time points (baseline, 6-12 weeks postprocedure, and 1 year postprocedure; n = 1486). Ethical approval for this study was obtained at each recruiting site and the coordinating center (NCT02260752, clinicaltrials.gov). Results More than 26% (n = 393) of women reported moderate anxiety/depression on the baseline anxiety/depression domain of the Euro-QOL 5-dimension instrument. At both the 6-12 weeks and 1-year postprocedural follow-up, there was significant improvement in the UF QOL symptom severity score (p less then 0.001, p less then 0.001), the total UF symptom QOL score (p less then 0.
