Tannin-Furanic Foams Created simply by Physical Turmoil: Affect involving Surfactant and Component Proportions.
Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV) is a member of the genus Potyvirus that is becoming a serious pathogen of pumpkin and other cucurbits in Trinidad and Tobago and the entire Caribbean region. In this study, four ZYMV isolates infecting pumpkin in Trinidad and Tobago were characterized by complete genome sequencing. Phylogenetic analysis showed 5.9-6.0% nt and 7.7-7.9% aa sequence divergence in comparison to the most closely related isolates NAT and AG from Israel and SE04T from Slovakia. Based on the variations in the complete genome sequence as well as individual gene sequences, a new genotype, designated ZYMV-Trini, is proposed for these isolates. Among the gene sequences of ZYMV-Trini isolates, the greatest variation was observed in the HC-Pro gene, with 20.8% aa sequence divergence from their closest relatives, whereas the least variation was observed in the NIb, P3, and CP genes, with 1.8-2.2% aa sequence divergence. This study also showed that transmission of ZYMV can occur through seeds, but this was less common than transmission via the aphid Aphis gossypii. The progression of ZYMV in pumpkin seedlings was quantified by RT-qPCR, which showed a rapid surge in viral load after 37 days. From recombination analysis, it could be concluded that the isolates SE04T from Slovakia, NAT from Israel, and AG from Israel have made major contributions to the genome architecture of ZYMV-Trini isolates.
The proteins related to the biosynthesis of salvianolic acids and lignins were regulated by smoke-water and karrikinolide in Salvia miltiorrhiza hairy roots. The effects of smoke-water (SW) and karrikinolide (KAR
) on the biosynthesis of salvianolic acids and lignins in Salvia miltiorrhiza hairy roots have been studied using proteomic technology. The results showed that a total of 1290 and 1678 differentially expressed proteins were respectively obtained in SW and KAR
comparing to the control. Bioinformatics analysis indicated the differentially expressed proteins responding to SW and KAR
treatments mainly involved in macromolecule metabolic process, cell part, binding, etc., and most of the proteins were located at the cytoplasm and cell membrane, followed by nuclear. In addition, the proteins involved in salvianolic acids biosynthesis were up-regulated, including 4-coumarate-CoA ligase (EC 6.2.1.12) and shikimate O-hydroxycinnamoyl-transferase (EC 2.3.1.133). Enzymes involved in lignins biosynthesis R1 treatments mainly involved in macromolecule metabolic process, cell part, binding, etc., and most of the proteins were located at the cytoplasm and cell membrane, followed by nuclear. In addition, the proteins involved in salvianolic acids biosynthesis were up-regulated, including 4-coumarate-CoA ligase (EC 6.2.1.12) and shikimate O-hydroxycinnamoyl-transferase (EC 2.3.1.133). Enzymes involved in lignins biosynthesis were also identified, e.g. cinnamyl-alcohol dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.195) and peroxidase (EC 1.11.1.7). The results indicated that proteins related to the biosynthesis of salvianolic acids and lignins were regulated by SW and KAR1 in S. miltiorrhiza hairy roots. This study will enhance our understanding of the mechanism by which SW and KAR1 on the biosynthesis of salvianolic acids and lignins in S. miltiorrhiza hairy roots.
This study aims to determine the efficacy of both tranexamic acid (TXA) and tourniquet on the tibial cement mantlethickness in total knee arthroplasty (TKA).

We retrospectively reviewed the recorded data of patients with primary end-stage knee osteoarthritis who underwent TKA procedure during 2014-2016 at a single institution to evaluate the tibial cement mantle. Patients were categorized in two groups based on the use of tourniquet (groups 1 and 2). In addition, these groups were categorized into two different subgroups based on the use of TXA in groups 1 and 2 (group 1-A, B and group 2-A, B). Four zones at the tibial baseplate on the anteroposterior view and two zones on the lateral view were measured at the 4-6-week postoperative visit.

A total of 28 patients (30 knees) were operated using tourniquet and TXA (group 1-A), 29 (30 knees) using tourniquet without TXA (group 1-B), 24 (28 knees) using TXA without tourniquet (group 2-A), and 38 (42 knees) without using TXA and tourniquet (group 2-B). Although a significant difference was found in the cumulative cement mantle penetration on postoperative X-rays between groups 1 and 2, no significant differences were found between groups A and B in both groups.

This study reports that tourniquet use in TKA increased cement mantle penetration of the tibial component in primary TKA. The main strength of this study was that the TXA use alone exhibited no significant effect on the cement thickness.

Chondrosarcomas of the small bones of the hands and feet are uncommon and account for less than 2% of all chondrosarcomas in the skeleton; a 4.2% rate of malignant degeneration of enchondromas to secondary chondrosarcomas has been reported. We performed this study to assess the outcome of the patients with chondrosarcomas of the small bones. We hypothesized that the presumed better prognosis of chondrosarcomas in these locations could be biased as the majority of these tumors tend to be of lower grades and are removed when still small sized, and that less aggressive surgery has an adverse effect on local control MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively studied the files of 44 patients with chondrosarcomas of the small bones of the hands and feet. There were 23 female and 21 male patients with a mean age of 50.9years (range, 6-86years). The mean follow-up was 13years (range, 5-40years). We recorded the patients' details including gender and age at diagnosis, type and duration of symptoms, tumor location and should be staged and followed closely.
The purpose of this study was to determine if delay (before or after 4months) in repairing a symptomatic traumatic rotator cuff tear affected clinical outcome, re-rupture rates and use of interpositional dermal grafts.

This was a case matched (age + tear size) series of patients who underwent an early (≤ 4months) or delayed (> 4months) rotator cuff repair following a traumatic tear. If a direct repair could not be achieved a dermal interposition graft was used. Outcomes were collected at a median time of 30months post-operatively using the Oxford, Constant and EQ5D scores.

Twenty patients underwent rotator cuff repair within 4months (1-4) of injury. Twenty age and cuff tear size-matched patients were identified who had undergone a delayed repair (4.1-24months) after injury. We found no significant difference (p > 0.05) in patient reported outcomes scores between the early and delayed repair. [Oxford scores; Early 43(13-48), Delayed 45 (31-48); Constant scores; Early 73 (21-94), Delayed 73.5 (44-87); EQ5D; Early 0.
