One popular story about Hermes is about him and his half brother, Apollo. During the dark night after hermes was born, he crawled out of his cradle and search for his half brother, Apollo’s, cattle. Once he found all of the cattle, be pulled the hooves off the cattle and switching them around. As a result of this, all the cattle walked backwards. Hermes found it very amusing and hid all of the cattle into a cave, and when back to the cave in Mount Cyllene and into his cradle. The next morning, Apollo was shocked to find that all of his cattle were gone. Since Apollo was the god prophecy, he discovered the suspect was in mount Cyllene, but all he found was baby Hermes sleeping in his cradle. Despite the fact he was a baby, Apollo took Hermes to Zeus for judgement. Zeus laughed at the conflict and simply told Hermes to give the cattle back, and so he did along with a lyre he made out o a turtle shell. (Conclusion and Transition).
