ation in their careers. Alumni from 2009 and earlier were physicians; alumni after 2009 came from diverse health professional backgrounds. Overall, IPC and teamwork was identified as the most used skill (n = 82, 70%) during their career. When comparing the pre-IPE period and the post-IPE period, post-IPE alumni identified IPC and teamwork as the area of greatest skill development (n = 38). Integrating interprofessional trainees and robust IPE curricula enhanced an established and successful quality improvement (QI) training program. VAQS alumni endorsed the importance of IPC skills during their careers. selleck chemicals The VAQS program is an example of how health professionals can successfully learn IPC skills in healthcare QI.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the association of antidepressant continuation in pregnancy with infant birth weight among women using antidepressants before pregnancy.
This retrospective cohort study used electronic health data linked with state birth records. We identified singleton live births (2001-2014) to enrolled women with 1 or more antidepressant prescriptions filled 6 months or less before pregnancy, including "continuers" (≥1 antidepressant fills during pregnancy, n = 1775) and "discontinuers" (no fill during pregnancy, n = 1249). We compared birth weight, small or large for gestational age (SGA or LGA), low birth weight (LBW; <2500 g), and macrosomia (>4500 g) between the 2 groups, using inverse probability of treatment weighting to account for pre-pregnancy characteristics, including mental health conditions.
After weighting, infants born to antidepressant continuers weighed 71.9 g less than discontinuers' infants (95% confidence interval [CI], -115.5 to -28.3 g), with a larger difference for female infants (-106.4 g; 95% CI, -164.6 to -48.1) than male infants (-48.5 g; 95% CI, -107.2 to 10.3). For female infants, SGA risk was greater in continuers than discontinuers (relative risk [RR],1.54; 95% CI, 1.02 to 2.32). Low birth weight risk was greater in continuers with 50% or more of days covered (RR, 1.69; 95% CI, 1.11 to 2.58) and exposure in the second trimester (RR, 1.53; 95% CI, 1.02 to 2.29), as compared with discontinuers.
Depending on infant sex, as well as duration and timing of use, continuation of antidepressant use during pregnancy may be associated with lower infant birth weight, with corresponding increases in LBW and SGA.

This effect is usually explained through the multiprocess framework, which suggests that salient cues recruit more automatic processes and require fewer cognitive resources than nonsalient cues. However, this explanation lacks direct empirical support, as the accuracy and response time data obtained in behavioral experiments are inadequate for providing an index to indicate the extent to which cognitive resources are recruited. To overcome this difficulty, the present study aimed to use the event-related potentials (ERP) technique to investigate the neurocognitive differences between the processing of salient and nonsalient prospective memory cues and verify whether salient cues facilitate automatic processes. Two experimental conditions were designed to manipulate the salience of prospective memory cues. During an ongoing task, participants were required to detect the word 'apple' (nonsalient prospective memory cue condition) or the red words (salient prospective memory cue condition). The results showed that the nonsalient prospective memory trials elicited sustained larger amplitudes than ongoing trials, whereas the salient prospective memory trials elicited sustained smaller amplitudes than ongoing trials, suggesting that the processing of salient prospective memory cues requires fewer cognitive resources compared to the nonsalient prospective memory cues. Moreover, resource-demanding ERP components were elicited in the processing of nonsalient prospective memory cues, but salient prospective memory cues were not. These results demonstrate that salient cues may facilitate automatic processes in prospective memory.People require multimodal emotional interactions to live in a social environment. Several studies using dynamic facial expressions and emotional voices have reported that multimodal emotional incongruency evokes an early sensory component of event-related potentials (ERPs), while others have found a late cognitive component. The integration mechanism of two different results remains unclear. We speculate that it is semantic analysis in a multimodal integration framework that evokes the late ERP component. An electrophysiological experiment was conducted using emotionally congruent or incongruent dynamic faces and natural voices to promote semantic analysis. To investigate the top-down modulation of the ERP component, attention was manipulated via two tasks that directed participants to attend to facial versus vocal expressions. Our results revealed interactions between facial and vocal emotional expressions, manifested as modulations of the auditory N400 ERP amplitudes but not N1 and P2 amplitudes, for incongruent emotional face-voice combinations only in the face-attentive task. A late occipital positive potential amplitude emerged only during the voice-attentive task. Overall, these findings support the idea that semantic analysis is a key factor in evoking the late cognitive component. The task effect for these ERPs suggests that top-down attention alters not only the amplitude of ERP but also the ERP component per se. Our results implicate a principle of emotional face-voice processing in the brain that may underlie complex audiovisual interactions in everyday communication. The present research aimed to study the effects of selective immunolesions of cholinergic or gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)ergic neurons in the nucleus basalis magnocellularis (NBM) on memory function as well as cholinergic activity and the level of expression of glutamatergic [NR2B subunit of N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)] receptors in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) and hippocampus of behaviorally characterized rats. In behavioral experiments, working memory was assessed by a spatial alternation testing procedure in a plus-maze, and acquisition and retention of spatial memory was evaluated in a Morris water maze. The rats were divided into three groups the NBM cholinergic, GABAergic immunolesioned groups and the normal control group. Cholin acetyltransferase or parvalbumin staining of the NBM and acetylcholinesterase staining of the mPFC and hippocampal sections were performed to visualize the effects of immunotoxins. The electrophoresis and immunoblotting were run to evaluate the effect of NBM lesions on the amount of the NR2B subunit of NMDA receptors.
