Development of Three-Dimensional Nickel-Cobalt Oxide Nanoflowers for Excellent Photocatalytic Wreckage involving Meals Dye Fabric dyes: Driver Components along with Effect Kinetic Examine.
Micellar enhanced ultra-filtration (MEUF) is a modified ultrafiltration (UF) method that can remove small molecules that are not effectively removed by UF alone. In this work we used a similar semi-equilibrium dialysis (SED) method to characterize two anionic surfactants, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and sodium laurate (SOL), as MEUF candidates to remove several polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) compounds. These anionic surfactants have low toxicity and are more biodegradable compared to the fairly toxic and persistent cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTABr) and similar cationic surfactants, which is important as MEUF surfactants may be present in the treated effluent. The log binding constants (Log KB) of the PAHs naphthalene, phenanthrene, pyrene and fluorene to SDS ranged from 3.07 to 4.48, which compared well with the previous results for CTABr and indicated that SDS is an excellent candidate for MEUF. The log binding constants for the same PAHs with SOL micelles ranged from 2.11 to 3.53, which suggested that SOL might be adequate for stronger-binding PAH like pyrene and fluorene but less suitable for naphthalene and phenanthrene. The results demonstrated a strong correlation between the Log KB with one micelle type and the Log KB with the other, suggesting a common set of properties and interactions are responsible for the binding. Similar to the previous results for CTABr, a significant correlation between Log KB and Log KOW values indicates that hydrophobic character is the main driving force for PAH binding with these anionic micelles. This may also be useful for predicting MEUF performance for various compound/surfactant combinations where Log KB is not known. The Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationship (QSAR) has been used to investigate organic mixtures but QSAR in the nanomaterial field (QNAR) is still new. Toxicity is a result of the interaction of many substances. QNAR research focuses on a single nanomaterial in the long-term. It is difficult to find an appropriate descriptor to build a model due to the complexity of the mixture. Selleckchem 3-TYP Here, we attempt to build a QNAR model to predict cell viability for HK-2 cells exposed to a mixture containing nano-TiO2 and heavy metals. HK-2 cells were exposed to four groups of mixtures containing heavy-metals and nanomaterials and CCK8 was added to obtain the number of living cells. At the same time, ROS was investigated to study this mechanism. Each descriptor of the components and mixtures were obtained using the formula Dmix= [Formula see text] respectively. We used the Multiple Partial Least Squares Regression (PLS) and Random Forest Regression (RF) to build a QNAR model. Both models reliably predict and assess viability of HK-2 cells exposed to the mixture. The RF model showed greater stability and higher precision in toxicity predictability and can be applied to environmental nano-toxicology.Exposure to phthalates poses potential to damage multiple organs and system in the body. However, limited data are available regarding effects of seasonal exposure levels of phthalates and indicators reflecting inflammatory response. We designed a pilot study with repeated measures. We recruited 106 eligible habitants from Wuhan city, China. They completed questionnaires, physical examinations and provided urine specimens in winter and summer seasons. We found that urinary levels of low-molecular-weight phthalate metabolites were higher in summer than in winter (all P less then 0.01). In winter, an interquartile range increase (1.264 μg/L) in 3-day moving average of high-molecular-weight phthalate metabolites corresponded to a 13.634% (95% CI -22.331, -3.941) decrease in mean platelet volume, 25.879% (95% CI -37.424, -12.204) for lymphocyte count or 10.862% (95% CI -18.716, -2.125) for platelet count (P less then 0.05 or P less then 0.01). However, in summer, an interquartile range increase (1.215 μg/L) in urinary levels of high-molecular-weight phthalate metabolites corresponded to an 8.743% (95% CI 4.217, 13.467) increase in platelet distribution width value or a 4.597% (95% CI 2.335, 6.780) for mean platelet volume value at 3-day lag (both P less then 0.01). In conclusion, phthalate exposure exhibited the potential for the activation of platelet function, particularly in winter. Seasonal variations of phthalate exposure should be considered when assessing health risk.Titanium (Ti) is commonly used in additives in the form of titanium dioxide (TiO2). However, our understanding of the effect of Ti on reproductive health remains limited. This nested case-control study, performed in a Ti mining exposure field, investigated the association between maternal blood Ti concentration and the risk of low birth weight (LBW), as well as the potential biological mechanism. A total of 45 women who delivered LBW infants (cases) and 352 women with normal birth weight infants (controls) were included. We collected maternal peripheral blood samples in the first or early second trimester to measure Ti concentration in serum (Tisr) and blood cells (Tibc), as well as inflammatory, lipid, and oxidative stress biomarkers thereof. The demographic characteristics of the women included in the study were also obtained. The results showed that the median total blood Ti concentration (Titb) in the case group was significantly higher than that in the control group (134 vs. 129 ng/mL, P = 0.039). A higher Titb level was associated with a greater risk of LBW [odds ratio = 2.62; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.16-5.90], but no such association was observed for Tisr or Tibc after adjusting for potential confounders. The serum lipid biomarkers TC, TG, and total lipids (TL) were all negatively associated with Tisr and Titb. Serum 8-OHdG was positively associated with Tibc. We concluded that a high Titb during early pregnancy may increase the risk of LBW. Lipid metabolism and oxidative stress may play an important role in the adverse health effects associated with Ti exposure. Thus, our results merit more attention to the probable adverse effects of titanium exposure during pregnancy. This study was conducted to assess heavy metals in the overlying water and sediments of Luhun Reservoir, Henan Province, China, which is positioned downstream from a molybdenum (Mo) mining area. The pollution indexes indicated that deposition of all metals may have been affected by the mining area. The single element pollution factor (Pi) of Mo was the highest among all heavy metals, with a mean value of 2.05. However, the sediments were subject to long-term accumulation of metals, particularly Mo, Cd, Pb, and Zn, which originated from anthropogenic sources. The mean individual element potential ecological risk index values for Cd were above 385, while the mean value comprehensive potential ecological risk index was 465, which indicates a high ecological risk. Moreover, the enriched heavy metals had different spatial distributions in the Luhun Reservoir sediments. Finally, Pearson correlation analysis indicated that the Pb was mainly affected by different anthropogenic sources and had no relationship with other metals, which suggests that the influence of mining area on heavy metal concentrations in the reservoir is difficult to disentangle.
